Reminder that you can get 10% off (or more depending on your credit card) of Target giftcards this weekend if you have a Target circle account.

Max is $500.

I stacked these over the years and have a lot of gift cards piled up now. With the discover card 5% off and the circle deal, the discounts add up. Problem is there’s always some kind of credit card offer so I never used my stockpiled gift cards.

So this is kind of random as it hasn't been talked about in awhile, but as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was on clearance at select Target locations earlier this year I figured I would mention this:

It looks like VGP is doing a re-print of the game in conjunction with Square Enix and preorders are open so this may be a good opportunity to pick it up if you missed out on it previously: https://videogamesplus.ca/products/final-fantasy-vii-remake-intergrade-ps5

Never ordered from them. Is it similar to LRG and all of their BS?

VGP is fantastic. Never had an issue with them, they ship in a box rather than bubblemailers and they have pretty decent deals from time to time. Also there’s a free shipping threshold that’s surprisingly not too high.

You have to think that after Square releases the third/final part, it's going to print all three together for one set. Not a big FF fan so I'll just wait till then.

got a 20 off $120 target circle. guessing everyone got a rock. nothing I want to pre order tho

15 off of 80 here.

Good time to stack these after the 10% (or 15%) off target giftcards from the first weekend this month.
buying gift cards (and switch games) are usually excluded from these deals

and a couple other specific brands and dairy milk lol

not sure if that's exactly what you meant but it's good to know otherwise, the exclusion list is otherwise pretty short but not knowing that can be disappointing

I have $10 off $50 but it wouldn't apply to the $15 Target Gift card with PSN purchase. It's cool that Target automatically used the gift card on my order even though I was charged $95.75 at checkout. My email shows my red card was really charged $80.75. Great deal if you need some Xbox or PSN credit. It works on other gift cards too.

*EDIT* Now I'm confused. I just got sent a $15 gift card.

they charge you $80.75 for the psn and then $15 for the gift card. it's so you can't return stuff and get the full value and keep the gift card

No, I meant good deal(s) if you already had saved 10 (or 15%) on target giftcards from earlier this month.

Used the 15 off 80 to grab Rebirth and Metaphor Refantazio for the PS5 for $82 after tax. Actually 10% off that if you factor in the savings from the giftcard at the beginning of the month.

FYI. You waste some, but if you can’t find something to get you to the $80 threshold, you can buy a game and something else. The discount is prorated. Then cancel/return the second time

For example, I got black Myth Wu kong and Christmas slippers for $81 total. Got like $12.50 off of black myth. Wasted the rest of the discount

This Kirby sweater was 50% off ($16) when I was in the store yesterday. It was with a bunch of other Xmas sweaters (nightmare before Christmas, elf, deadpool, etc) and Christmas shirts.

No new deal to post, just an ask of members here. Are your local targets purposely not restocking games anymore, particularly PS5? The end caps and main gaming aisle shrunk in my local stores. And post christmas, not even new/current games are being restock. It seems just like media/movies, retailers are intentionally trying to kill physical media. Except records/LPs…

Could be that physical games are slowly dying, could also be that there are far fewer new releases of big(ger) games for these stores to even take the time and space to stock items that will likely just sit on shelves.

It'll be one thing if this happened just for a year, but it's been years of fewer large releases (that actually sell in store), so the stores are changing those layouts given that change.

I will say the idea of physical media dying is fake news and propaganda. MS and Sony are intentionally kneecapping physical games and colluding, to control the market and digital marketplace.

I took a photo of my local Best Buy yesterday PS5 gaming aisle. Same thing… new releases like astrobot were even removed from the planogram. I’m not sure who’s forcing the hand to kill retail physical media, though it‘s sad.

I enjoy how there is a constant discussion that it is Sony and MS fault, but when games (majority) are $70 when first released it is quite a lot to ask a retailer to give shelf space to what many would say is approaching "luxury" item status.

Other than the fact I am cheap, I can not recall that last time I was in any store and bought a game simply sitting there on the shelf without checking reviews and pricing. Physical games (and movies) are being removed from stores because they are not making enough profit from them.

Why do you think all these Targets and Walmarts moved into grocery business? Money...and something Amazon has yet to figure out how to dominate

Groceries are low profit items. After expenses, they only make 1-3% on them. So no, they aren’t in it for the money on groceries. They are in it to get butts in their store to buy other higher profit margin stuff.

Correct. I used to buy between $5000-$10,000 in physical media per year at Best Buy a decade ago, many times just ‘window shopping’. Now I have no reason to walk in any more, as everything is done online or in store pick up. I will say, I know Best Buy internally and how they work. They’ve reduced trucks and inventory TO stores, keeping in store stock low, and made stores semi warehouses. Their whole profit model is different now. And because of that, I barely spend anything at Best Buy anymore. Currently sitting on banked reward zone over $700 that maybe one day I’ll cash out.

Amazon has a grocery business fun fact. Both actual grocery stores and delivery services albeit that's only available in major cities.

I'd wager the reason why it cannot be dominated is that food isn't a stable thing. Not something that can be easily produced and manufactured with nearly the same outcome each time. And cannot just be thrown on a pallet of a giant shelf. Between storage, exp, animals and such getting into them etc.

I thought a couple of years ago Best Buy made nearly all of its profit from extended warranties. How is that going to go when there’s no employee at the checkout scaring you into buying a warranty?

I'm surprised Geek Squad taking advantage of elderly Apple users isn't the main driver for Best Buy profits. 😆

I do have a get $20 if you spend $185 in one qualifying purchases offer in my Cartwheel offers. 🙄

And yes physical game space is shrinking at all my Targets...and most of the remaining game spaces aren't being refilled. Hell.. even electronics isn't always staffed.

Best Buy has sent me a $5 code three months in a row. I really don't shop there anymore & I rarely buy games at msrp so I haven't used them. They didn't work on $10 PSN or Nintendo cards either.

Electronics is never properly staffed in any store across all of retail since places expect a skeleton crew to do more with less.

I only got 1 of them, and used it on a Nite Ize Doohickey Keychain. Came to 49 cents plus tax and had free shipping. 😆

When brick & mortar stores look at how they choose to allocate shelf space I would think it's profit margin that is probably the biggest factor there and not as much the price or perceived luxury status, though I'm sure the interest level or likelihood of selling factors into it. As for Sony and Microsoft they have to take their share of the blame. Mind you Sony was one of the early parties that is primarily responsible for pushing the standard from $60 to $70 for AAA games, this despite many of them already being monetized in additional ways, whether it be one or more even pricier 'premium editions' on day 1, DLC packs, or microtransactions.
