Target Clearance Thread XXIV

Last few times I think they’ve gotten their sales as intended and not included things like first party switch games we used to see. I’ll check early in the morning just in case! Found Splatoon 2 for $17 but all other games on the end where full price when I scanned.

Took a look at the BOGO 50% off selection for Nintendo Switch, and yeah, pretty paltry and not much of note.

:switch: Sea of Stars @ $40 (very recent release for physical)
:switch: Hogwarts Legacy @ $45.50 (stacking sale)
:switch: Legend of Legacy HD Remastered @ $50 (recent release)
:switch: Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Royal Edition @ $50 (recent release)

Doesn't look like I am going to pick anything up and I'll probably wait until the next BOGO, which hopefully will be B2G1 free instead with a better selection.

How are you guys finding target clearance games?? Every single target next to me has like many 10-15 games per console on the floor (with like 50%+ spots empty) and no end caps, clearance sections or anything. And if you ask them about anything in the back they get real snitty like you just asked them for their job.

Love how target has black ops 6 available for pre order right away while dbz ultimate still isn’t up smh. Just bought BO6.. I know it’s cod but I pre order anyway..kinda trust treyarch so it’s all good

Like all things clearance, it varies from store to store, but it's never "in the back" as in, not on the floor. However, it is often in one of the back corners of the store which can be close to electronics or far away depending on the layout of the store. But there's a reason the primary thing said in all threads like this is YMMV. But if you find a game that has been mentioned here still just sitting on the shelf it's often worth scanning it because I've found things marked down but not labeled as such several times.

Nothing too great, but I did grab the Nexomon collection on PS4 (on sale for $20 right now) along with a card game for family game night.

I've gotten something not on the floor before but this was pre covid and target changed a lot since then

No idea why they were keeping stuff like Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse for $5 in the back and why the employee volunteered this information without even asking when I was clearance hunting but I was flabbergasted too because I thought it was a myth but nope, sometimes that shit really is in the back.

I think it comes down to where the Target is located; like Targets that are not frequented from a video game stand point as much. In the Milwaukee area there are a few and they will have clearance sections (or games thrown in a box), but I can not recall the last time I found a "hidden" gem. Just a theory.

Hell yeah, I remember that $5 deal on a handful of 3DS games! Ended up being a one-off, which wasn't really surprising. I also scored SMT IV: Apocalypse at the time. Out of curiosity I looked it up and it was January 2019, so 5 ½ years ago. Like you said, things have changed since then and they don't really keep much stuff in the back anymore.

my Targets used to have endcaps with the 'spillover games' that also had clearance title among them, but they ALL got rid of those sections like 1-2 years ago. So now I havent been able to find a single clearance game at any targets near me. Not sure if its just my area thats like this.

Years ago, like maybe 2014, I saw online that a Target about 20 minutes from me was saying it had Pokemon Heartgold in stock, which was going for a lot secondhand even back then. So my husband and I drive over, figuring we'll find nothing, and a nice employee reads the DPCI, checks the back, and comes out with it saying, "You just wanted one, right?" We kind of just nodded in disbelief, bought it, and left. Kind of kicking myself for not buying however many they had lol around that same year, I also went to a different Target about a half an hour away in the opposite direction and randomly found two different first release Monster High dolls (I collect those and was checking out the shelf), which had been out of print for years at that point. They were just sitting there, next to the new stuff. It was incredible. Target used to be the coolest place to find random treasures. Shopping hasn't been the same since COVID.

Making me remember the days of finding the hard to get toys at ToysRUs

Wish RDR for Switch was part of it, I'd be all over that for my other half. Been debating getting Sea of Stars, but the game has so many mixed reviews and my backlog is pretty high right now. But 30 less whatever's in my circle rewards might make it worth it after canceling one.

MGS CE part of the b1g1 but I just remembered it doesn’t have the game LOL

It was on sale for $20 at Target a few weeks ago. My bad, I misunderstood and misinterpreted it as the wrong game (i.e. MGS Collection Vol. 1)

Read Dead Redemption is on my wishlist too but I haven't seen a good enough deal on it yet so it hasn't hit my target threshold.

The METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER Collector's Edition is a limited quantity bundle being offered through retail partners in the Americas. This version will also contain the METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER Tactical Edition.

Konami said CE do comes with copy of the game

Ended up going with the EU Deluxe via Amazon for the time being. Would have loved the B1g1 but they sold way too quick at an odd time was asleep. No fair chance

Thank god it does. Not a fan of CE’s that don’t include the game. Still sucks that it’s a standard instead of deluxe tho wth. Sticking with my deluxe from Amazon EU.

$150 for the CE that includes deluxe would definitely be worth it. With standard, ehh

My Target wallet shows a 10% off, 1 time use on tech, toys, sports, and entertainment. Look like it works on some preorders and some consoles. Ymmv.
I was about to say, I was the only one that got one, that'd be weird. I got a 15%. wish it was 20% but im spoiled lol. Went ahead and used it on SW Outlaws Edition and AC Shadows Edition (which come with steelbooks) and Silent hill ps5. All games im iffy about but we'll see if we'll get more than 20% off later this year.

Oh and target WHERE THE HELL is DBZ sparking zero ultimate edition ugh

Random 30% clearance finds on PS5:

Forspoken $20.99
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum $27.99 [INSERT JOKE HERE]

Also a bunch DC and GI Joe action figures at 50% off.

Tried checking the store closest to me and observed these on clearance:

30% off right now, should progress to 50% off and then finally 70% off over the coming weeks.

As I am a Nintendo guy I will note those titles that I saw:

:switch: Among Us - Crewmate Edition (NSW) - (this one was $10 recently at some Walmart locations)
:switch: Disney Magical World 2 (NSW)
:switch: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (NSW)
:switch: Miitopia (NSW)

I went to my local hoping to find Disney magical world 2 because I've been hunting for that for awhile now. Only found a bunch of forespoken for $21.

It seems pretty YMMV right now. I tried a second location today and some of the games that were on clearance at the first one I tried a couple of days ago weren't discounted at the new one. Though they didn't seem to have actual stock of those that weren't so maybe that plays into it as I merely scanned the UPC codes on the in-store scanner to compare pricing.
