I have had the S3 since march. I have enjoyed every aspect of the phone. my wife prefers it to her iphone. I like the look, the feel and the speed. I was coming from a motorola droid x. what I noticed was it had a slightly bigger screen but was so much lighter. the camera takes decent pics, bringing over apps from amazon and the play store was easy. I will say that if you go with the S3 make sure it is the 16 gig model. Everyone I know who had the 32 gig had problems and the phone was sluggish. I just popped a 16 gig card in and gave myself 32 gig which I don't think I will ever come close to filling.

I have played with the S4 and again it is a nice phone, but not sure if the few new bells and whistles warrant the price difference. If it was me I would go with the S3 with giftcard. Getting a damn good phone for basicly nothing out of pocket is hard to pass up.

I have had an S3 since December 2012.

I really like the phone.  If it's free it's a great phone.

I however DO NOT recommend buying an OtterBox for your phone.  I've had nothing but bad luck with them.  The outer shells stretch out or rip and I'm not hard on my phone by any means.  They have fantastic customer service and will send replacements for those problems but the hassle of that is annoying to me.

I've had an S3 for a year and it's been great. Agree about the otter box.the outer shell of Mine has warped really bad.

I personally bought an s3 last month actually.  I upgraded from a Windows 7 Samsung Focus.  I was also able to get it for free from Staples because they had the phone for $50 and had a deal where if you traded in your old smartphone, you can get $50 store credit, so boom, free.

All in all, I absolutely love the s3.  It took me awhile to get used to it, after having a Windows Phone for two years.  The only qualms I have about the phone is that there is no built in group texting.  You can send a text to multiple people, but they all come back separately, which is annoying.  But there are a variety of third party apps that remedies this.  I just haven't found the right one.  Also, depending on the apps that you download, some of them will run in the background and drain your battery life.  This is also solved by downloading an app killer app which will close all non-essential programs on your phone.  Also, being smart about what you're downloading and how it's being used is always a smart thing to do.

What I love about the s3 is how closely tied it is with google (duh!).  I use gmail pretty extensively and have a ton of contacts there.  It was so nice to have everything easily synced to my phone.

As for a case, I went with the Ballistic brand: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AGF-Ballistic-SG-Maxx-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-S3-Case-Holster-Clip-Grey-White-/251316267370?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item3a839de96a

I find it a great case!

While the s4 is great, I too found the upgrades not really worth the money.  All in all, I'm quite happy with the s3.

actually if you do one text with multiple recipients, the responses all come back in that same conversation...not individually. I use this feature every sunday with my buddies in fantasy football.
