500 Days of Summer was hipster bullshit. District 9 is the one to get this week.
Why is it hipster bullshit? Because it features indie music? I've seen a lot of indie flicks in my days and most are the same bit of garbage over and over again but 500 days of summer is a movie not to be missed.

500 Days had every "indie" film trope. Yes, the music is a huge part of it. It's as if the screenwriter wanted to appeal to that crowd by calling out Belle and Sebastian and Smiths music and proceeded to totally abandon it as any sort of theme after the 20 minute mark. It was a pointless movie.

This movie wasn't perfect, but I wouldn't outright dismiss it and call it "hipster bullshit." There's plenty in this movie to enjoy and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you've ever been in a situation similar to the main character's. There were so many bad movies released this year that I don't see the point hating on this one.

Every movie borrows off each other in one way another. Not everything can reinvent the wheel. Some things are just content with doing it right and this movie did everything right.
why are the CD's coming out Monday and the Movies Tuesday?? is one misprinted? will they both be today b/c of the holiday's? that would be great..

EDIT: nvm, even on the cover of Eminem's Relapse-Refill album he has the date as 12/21/09...
Actually went to my local indie record store today and they had out the new release movies along with the CD's today. Since I already ordered District 9 from Amazon I just picked up Something Something Darkside Blu for $17. Nice price and nice to pick it up a day early, worth the extra few bucks not to have to fight the parking lot and long checkout lines at Target tomorrow.
Why are shitty movies always excused because they are "family movies."
because some people want a movie that the entire family will like instead of a great movie that they can't watch?

Picked up D9 this morning for $14.99...

I took a few pictures with my iPhone of the temporary price cut section if anyone was wondering what the latest price cuts were. I hope the pics are clear enough:

Kinda bummed that "Monster's Inc" on Blu-Ray hasn't gone on sale yet, while "Up" already went on sale twice this holiday season... I already own "Up" too. I'll have to use the $5 coupon for "Monster's Inc."

hmmm mine has Monsters Inc for 19.99, was hoping to use that $8 off with the $5 coupon, but it expired right before the sale!

You're lucky. Which state do you live in? I haven't seen any Monsters Inc Blu-Rays for 19.99 at any California Targets. :whistle2:(

I'm in Sacramento and saw Monsters Inc at every Target i went to last week. I almost picked it up but decided to get movies I don't have at all rather than replace dvd's I already own

Wow! I live in Los Angeles and I could have sworn I saw this Blu-Ray at regular price everywhere. I even bought it for regular price, except I only got $5 off with the blu-ray coupon. :whistle2:(

I heard District 9 is great movie for entomologists. This movie shows what happens if insects somehow become more technological advance. LOL!
It is a shame that BestBuy printed ad showing District 9 at 19.99 but its web site showing 17.99.

Well, at least BestBuy printed ad for Transformers 2 = 20.
PM this with Target, -$5 web coupon, -$3 manufacturer coupon = $12 + tax :D
