Tech Romancer or Sword of the Berserk? (dreamcast)

If you're at all into anime and fighting games, go with techromancer. It pokes fun at all of the major anime franchises and has a pretty fleshed out story mode for a fighting game. Sword of the Beserk is decent, but Techromancer has more replayability.

I own both of the games, and would recomend Sword of the Berserker. The fighting in Tech. is poor, and nothing about the game is truly exceptional. Tech is a good game, but IMHO Sword of the Berserker is more amusing, provided you like hack and slash fun.
It basically boils down to whether you'd prefer an average hack and slash game (Sword)
Or a sub-par gimic based (anime) fighting game (tech)

Sword of the Berserk was not my favorite game. Tech Romancer looks better.

I just thought Sword of the Berserk had subpar graphics and story. It probably made me the most upset that the intro took forever.

Tech Romancer, is a crazy fighter that only Capcom could make. It has a bunch of cool extras and unlockables. I've enjoyed the game alot

I actually returned Sword of the Berserk the same day I got it. It was fun and all, definitly a precurser to Devil May Cry, but there just wasn't enough "play" time. The cinemas were long and drawn out. There were points in the cinemas where I would be looking at the screen,, and wondering why the hell it wouldnt let me just walk down the hallway for a minute, I had to watch Guts walk down the hallway. Not too much fun.

Outside of that tho, yes the controls are good and combat is great.

I think whoever plays this should probably watch the anime or read the manga because it gives you a much better understanding and background for the story, whereas the game just kind of tosses you in this universe and expects you to follow it.

But I agree to go with Tech Romancer just because it has a high replay value and Sword of the Berserk was a really short game and gives you no incentive to play it twice.

Tech Romancer.

Not because its rare, but because its a better game over all. not that i dislike SOTB, because i dont & still play once in a while.

I haven't played Sword of the Berserk, but Tech Romancer has, as suprsaiyanMAX said, a lot of replay value. I could be biased though since it is a Capcom fighting game and I love Capcom fighting games. :)

Sword of the Berserk was totally epic. It's a short game, but its cinematic flair and production quality impress me even to this day. Its hack-and-slash action at it's finest, with detailed, gritty, realistic graphics, but the thing that strikes me the most is the quality of the cinema scenes and the voice acting. They're very well done, and they really immerse you into the story. I'm surprised with so many people's beef with long cinemas, especially since Berserk's are so nice; I guess a gamer's attention span while he's in a gaming mode is pretty short. I, for one, loved Berserk's, as I did Metal Gear Solid 2's.

Tech Romancer was good, but it's just another Capcom fighter after all, although I'm not a big fan of fighters. The anime theme and characters were sweet, but the game couldn't hold my attention for more than a week or two.

I played the berserk game long before I got around to reading the manga and seeing the anime, while doing those helps understand it they aren't necessary for enjoying the game. If you're just in a gotta kill something gaming mood then Berserk is it. But knowing the manga and anime will give you more milage with the game.
