Tempest X3 PS1 - as good as Tempest 2000 Atari Jaguar?

its everything thats in the Jaguar game plus some extea content. So its even better than the Jaguar verison.

Then I'll buy it![/QUOTE]

Well worth the $4 or whatever it goes for nowadays. I bought it new back in the PS1 days for $10 and it was great at that price. Its one of the few PS1 games that I still go back to and play regularly. It holds up quite well even by todays standards.

There's some differences from Tempest 2k from what I understand and some of the hardcore 2k people dislike it, not sure exactly why. Hope that helps.

Disagree.

Tempest X3 in and of itself is a horrible horrible game. The visuals are far too bright and they obscure gameplay, making strategy virtually impossible.

Tempest 2000 is an unlockable, but it doesn't feel up to snuff with the Jag/Saturn versions. One of the main annoyances is that the artificial intelligence for the AI droid was completely changed, making it useless. Also, the game just "feels different", I can't really explain it.

That's answering your original question. Is it worth the $3 or $4 that you can buy it for? Yeah, definately. But if you have the means to play the original Jag version (without spending too much), it's the better version.

Yeah a Jaguar emulator lets me play the 2000 version.

How can X3 not have analog control??? For tempest that's almost mandatory.

I think the PS1 version may have come out before the DualShock controller was introduced, thus no analog control. Ive never had a problem with the controls tho.
