Tenchi In Tokyo Complete Collection $22.99 at bestbuy.com

Deep Discount lists both Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo as being released June 19th, both retailing at about $50 with their price being $33.54.

Maybe it is a misprint on Best Buy's part in the pricing as both boxset retails for the same amount. Its a good price for it though, even if I wasn't as big on Tenchi in Tokyo as some of the other incarnations of the series.
Tenchi In Tokyo: Complete Collection is available for preorder for $22.99 at bestbuy.com. List price is $49.99 with 6/19 release date.

It is a misprice since the Tenchi Universe: Complete Collection is $39.99 with the same release date.
My local BBs already have the three Tenchi 6/19 releases out on on the shelves for over a week now. PM may be a possibility here for those stores that already have this in stock.

Tenchi in Tokyo was pretty awful, but the last few episodes of the series were probably some of the best Tenchi material ever made, oddly enough. Not that it'd be that hard to do, mind you...

Nice. Even though most of Tokyo was pretty "meh", I'm still a huge Tenchi nut. I'm definitely all over it for $30.

Hmm... will have to check my BB tomorrow. Don't really want to pay ship, and pre-order won't let my ship to store. Compared to deepdiscount, after tax and ship it's like $7 savings. Weak. Maybe they'll PM... but I'm guessing since the instore kiosks show diff prices, it wouldn't work with that, and if I brought in a printout of the page, seems they might realize it's not released yet. :p I guess I'll just wait for the DD sale and see if it remains this price.
O__O it says on the site fullscreen.. is there a widescreen edition or just the fullscreen one? would like to know before i buy it :)
The older volumes are listed as having a 1.33:1 ratio on Amazon, so it appears that the series has only been released in fullscreen.

I was able to PM the $22.99 BestBuy.com price for Tenchi in Tokyo: Complete Collection @ my local BB. It required a manager price override as well.

Did he say anything about it being a preorder?

I guess I'll pick this up since they never released a true box set for Tenchi in Tokyo. I'm still loving my Tenchi Universe Box Set (original) that I picked up at RightStuf for 50 bucks :)

1) Your local store need have the product in stock
2) Head to Customer Service with the product and ask that you would like to PM a BestBuy.com price
3) The customer service associate will then check the BestBuy.com price on the register
4) A printout of the web page is not really be necessary; it's either they will honor the BestBuy.com price or they don't
5) Once the associate tries to override the price from $39.99 to $22.99, it will prompt for a manager approval
6) Once the manager approves the price override, it's all good to go

This pricematching is YMMV, due early stock inventory and whether the manager approves the price override!

Or simply preorder it online! Shipping is only $1.79 LOL!

Otherwise, you'll burn more gas than the cost of shipping to only risk getting rejected of a price match.

Historically speaking, bestbuy.com is less likely to cancel your order than other e-tailers, especially the misprice difference is not huge in comparsion.

People ordered the hack//ROOTS LE at a bigger misprice (like 75% off list) and bb.com still shipped them out without hassles.

Checkout your local BB stores thay have both Tenchi Box Set instock. You can get customer service pricematch with BB.com. I scored 1 copy today for $25 after taxes.

4) A printout of the web page IS NECESSARY, because the kiosk price is full price, and since their computers are connected to that server, if they try to "look up" the price at "BestBuy.com", they'll get the "full price" rather than "$22.99" and you'll get "fuck".

Every other step looks good though.

They are always able to check the BestBuy.com (non-kiosk) prices on their customer service registers/computers. A printout of the web page may be helpful, but for me it's unneeded for PM @ my local BBs. Plus, if they are unwilling or "unable" to look up the price on BestBuy.com, I doubt they will honor the BestBuy.com price with the source coming from a printout of the web page.

Around here, the customer service is ass and they treat you like ass. So it's ass all around.

Gonna try PMing at Best Buy right now. Wish me luck!

Edit: Success! Had 5 in the store: picked one up, went to checkout, asked to pricematch at BestBuy.com, guy didn't know how to pricematch, sent me to customer service, customer service rang it up, asked for a manager to override, done. Pretty painless.

how much was that? no one posted about that mistake.

Just did it today at my BestBuy, the lady said sure and even said "wow" twice when I got it price matched, then I gave her a 10$ reward zone ticket and said "wow" again when I only payed 14$ of real money.

lol.

Too bad Tenchi Universe doesnt have an error price, weird that they haven't changed it. I actually enjoy Tenchi in Tokyo though.
