IGN says you can play doubles across 4 consoles and take your created player online, so I am going to order this one from Play-Asia right now.
I wonder if the mini-games are playable online...
EDIT: I guess you can, but it's not entirely clear.
Live Support
Aside from Exhibition, which enables players easy access to a simple singles or doubles game, Court Games' mini-games provide that quick, arcade feeling so gamers can jump in, compete against each other in crazy little games such as Court Curling, Alien Attack, Super Bingo, or Pin Crusher, and get out again. These games are just plain stupid fun and their two-player functionality is a big plus. The Xbox Live support offers the same essential ease and delight. Click on the Xbox Live menu, decide whether you want to play in Ranked or Unranked matches, singles or double matches, set up your own custom game, and play. Smartly, SEGA enables four independent players to vie on Xbox Live (instead of forcing two players to double up on one unit), and it permits your created player to suit up online too.
Anyone else in?

Top Spin 2 is a much better game IMO. I'm a fan of virtua tennis. But VT3 I don't like due to the fact that you or the computer constantly dive after the ball.

I haven't played Virtua Tennis since the first one on DC, but that was half the fun. Me and my friends always had really long volleys that only ended when something stupid would happen - we can return everything, but volleys end with inexplicable hits out of bounds, hits to the net, or everyone’s favorite, RANDOM POINTLESS DIVE!

Still, Top Spin 2 is only about $15 at this point. Maybe I can wait on VT3.

Game is a lot of fun. The demo is set on super hard or something, so don't be scared off by it. The World Tour mode eases you in nicely. Also a lot less diving once you play the game properly.

So if anyone wants to play, just hit me up on Live.

I'd like to hear about Virtua Tennis 3 VS. Top Spin 2. I'm hoping to get one of these...but cannot decide which since the reviews are so similar.
id like to get this... i just dont want to pay 60 for it.
You won't because it's currently available for $50. See rocksolid and ship's new release thread for the Amazon link (no tax, free ship).

I'm down for VT3, but with GHII coming out, I have to hold off for a little while.

If you want a more realistic game of tennis, then get Top Spin. If you want more acrade style action, get Virtua Tennis. They're both good at what they do. It just depends on what you want.

All the diving combined in the demo combined with me not having enough money to buy two games in two weeks, and the fact one of the games is $90 prevents me from getting this game. Guitar Hero 2 is priority, maybe VT3 when I can get it for $29.99 or less.

I played the hell out of Top Spin 2, but from most what most have told me of the demo it seemed like this would be in the "avoid or bargain bin land" but then It's getting good reviews... color me perplexed. I would like to rent also, but the high price of renting and not willing to sign up for gamefly or flex means I would be better off just buying this. Maybe there will be a sale in the next few weeks.

I stop by Gamestop today, they didn't have any in stock. Anyway hate buying from them anyway.

Order it in Amazon.com Did anyone get there copy yet?

To me, tennis videogames are like women. For the first couple weeks, you smack your balls around, and have tons of fun. Then after you practice you backhand and forehand on them, and master it, it gets kinda boring, and I'm left wanting something else.

Downloaded the demo last night.

I like me a little tennis occasionaly.

Actually after playing Rockstar's Ping Pong that kind of replaced me need for tennis games.

Men?

Sorry.

Wow, I almost passed this one up because of the crummy demo, but being a big VT fan since the dreamcast, I decided to give the series the benefit of the doubt...and I wasn't disappointed. I've only played a few tourneys so far, but I can say with confidence that this is a safe purchase for fans of the series.

As for comparisons to Top Spin 2 (which I loved), it really comes down to preference...with TS2, you have a more strategic game (more shot selection, risk shots, "bigger" court) at a lower price (may be the clincher for CAGs); with VT3, it's more "pickup and play" friendly, better graphics, and better presentation (with replays) and seemingly better load times. If you're a tennis gamer, you can't go wrong with either one (but I'm happier with VT3, for now).

I still have the dreamcast hooked up just to play virtua tennis and ikaruga. I'm really excited to be able to play on live, but I can't find the damn game anywhere. It seems Wisconsin doesn't have any freakin' copies. Once I track a copy down I'm definitely up for some CAG tennis.
I tried the demo. Not really my thing. I'll stick to WiiSports Tennis :)
I hope someone figures out a way to port a Wii-like controller JUST for tennis games to the X-Box. Imagine having that controller with 360 graphics.

I played this yesterday at gamestop when I picked up EDF I am looking to pick it up when I get paid this weekend. Count me in CheapyD!

i picked this up today. haven't put it in yet...

should figure out how to play before venturing online.

My Virtua Tennis 3 Video Review:

This is one of the best Tennis Simulation games out today. It has a great online mode, and has excellent next generation graphics and sound. If you're looking for a good tennis game that is solid and has some cool minigames to play with, check it out!

Good game. Today I invested, like, 6 hours into it, and now I'm exhausted. I'm currently ranked just under 100, and it's taken forever just to get there, hehe.

In respect to the two, Top Spin 2 and VT3 are actually very different. In fact, I got destroyed nearly 10 times in a row on the VT3 demo (which I can now slaughter) because Top Spin 2 and VT3 play so differently. Now that I'm used to VT3 I'm beating guys left and right, but I know I'll suck at Top Spin 2 now.

Anyone know how I can avoid those Duke/ King players? Those players are really killing my ranking.

thanks

Does anyone still play this? I picked it up at Target for$10, and while I am tempted to play it due to good reviews and the fact that I liked the original on the DC, I am pretty sure single player won't keep me interested for long.

The game goes for $40 at Wal-Mart, so I'm considering flipping it for NBA 2K8 or Lost: Via Domus.

So, Wal-Mart wouldn't do the exchange since they didn't have any copies at that store.

Anyone wanna play some tennis?

GT: Zeus Rambo

Its a fantastic game.
I'm still not sure how to find Duke/King/Whatever, which is sad, because I have the over 10 hours achievement and am at rank #2.
If you guys want to add me, go for it. Azu, I'd especially love to play you in some Madden as well, as a diehard Packers fan. :p
OH ITS ON!
Just send me a friend request, and we'll get right on it.
Then of course we'll have to faceoff again once Madden 09 comes out. Its always a day 1 purchase for me.
Friend request sent. I see you haven't played Madden since 4/25. Please tell me you didn't get rid of it.
NEVER! I still have 07 too :p
It's just that franchise freezes the second I try to play it everytime so I only play online now, and even then its only with friends.

I don't know about this game.

My impressions from last night, when I cracked the game open and played for 4 and 1/2 hours or so: This game is awesome! I played through a whole year of World Tour, and I managed to gain 260 achievement points. The only problem was that it was too easy. I wanted to adjust the difficulty (which I now know you can't on World Tour) because I was winning 2-0 every time, and 90% of the time, the opponent wouldn't even score a point.

Then I started up the game today and began year 2. My first tournament was a rank 204 and up (I'm #143). Um... What the fuck happened? I'm in the very first round (I've retried it 8 times) and I can rarely even score a point, much less win. I expected/hoped for an increase in difficulty, but this just went from Very Easy to Very Hard in a flash. It's not even challenging. It's just frustrating and cheap.

I've been playing video games for 20+ years, and this game has the worst balancing issues I have ever seen. It sucks, too, because I really liked the game. But this ruins it.

Oh snap! I just picked this up for $10. I haven't played it yet obviously, but if any one is up for a match against me, please let me know!
