Terry Funk's wrestling topic

Damn Santino is awesome.. I haven't posted in a while but I'm finally caught up with the thread. Apparently the PPV last night was pretty much disappointing huh? Oh well... seems we've been duped again with the Y2J thing. WWE truly knows how to milk a comeback.
b/w the tag match and Santino, the past half hour of Raw has been the most entertaining it's been in *ages*.
Agreed. I loved the look on his face after he only sipped the beer. And did you see how shitty the cap looked when he turned around.

Dear WWE, please get rid of that shitty ass belt! Thanks

WTfuck that Eve chick looks like single mother of two! And no Y2J tonight. boo.

Actually, with Austin coming next week I'm all but certain that he won't be back then too. WWE probably figures that they can throw us a few hell yeahs and a stunner and we'll lap it up like the good little dogs that we are and be satisfied.

Santino's promo was glorious, and I think I spotted "Break the walls" during that Save_Us promo. One thing I love about them doing a slow build is that it'll mean so much more as a result of it - DX's reunion wouldn't have meant as much as it did if they hadn't built it up so slowly. I'll take WWE drawing things out over them rushing things, and losing out on potential money-drawing things as a result.

Oh, and WWE's got yet another replica coming out of the spinner belt, so it isn't going anywhere. It's a shame, as the belt doesn't suit anyone but Cena, or someone who's wearing it to mock Cena.
Santino's promo was glorious, and I think I spotted "Break the walls" during that Save_Us promo.
You did. I ran in to check it out (was in the middle of sudden home repairs), and saw that, followed by the cut to Orton. Nice tease. Jerks.

It'd be funny if Jericho comes back and the " Save us " promos keep going. We don't understand why, but eventually Jericho becomes champ. Then, on Cena's first day back, he takes the strap off of Jericho and explains that he was going to save us, that he was the one.

yep. no more watching until I stumble into the wrestling topic and find no less than seven posts in a row exclaiming "JERICHO IS BACK!" or, "Holy crap they scrapped half of the roster/current gimmics!"
Survivor is 11/19 ;)
lol... well i got a good shot at seeing jericho..

if not survivor series he better come out the next night..

this long wait is gay!!

When I first started readong/posting in these wrestling threads, I'd avoid like the plague after 6pm Mondays (local) so I'd miss the mini-spoilers of RAW.

Now I'm rather thankful that ya'll have running commentary for me, so I know when to skip the show.

The west coast CAGs thank you. :)

Do yourself a huge favor and just watch the show from 10:20 to 10:50. As many have already remarked upon the Jeff/Harry vs Carlito/Kennedy tag match was excellent, and Santino cut another great promo.

So, next week eh? WWE looks to really be throwing it all out there to get some ratings going, Austin's return and a "1-night" return of DX? I can't say as though I'm looking forward to any of that unless Santino gets the best of Austin and the DX reunion turns into HBK kicking HHH's head off.

With the obvious push to draw more viewers next week, plus the lackluster MNF game in the wake of the Indy/NE collision on Sunday, I think there'd be no better time to bring Jericho back than next week, when Vince is likely to have the biggest audience to showcase him off to.

Sadly my video recording program messed up and missed the first hour of RAW which wasn't there a Save_Us video played during the first hour? Oh well... here's the one played before the main event.

The "19" in the video makes me think it'll happen the night after Survivor Series. Whether or not "it" is just another "coming soon" tease remains to be seen.

I am praying that Santino gets the best of Austin. They could get so much mileage out of this that it's not even funny.

Well actually it potentially could be very funny.

Wonder why they'd push his debut back nearly a month.

Between Austin and DX next week, it sure as hell won't be next week, it would have no impact.

Stephanie McMahon went apeshit that the news got out. Personally I think Raw is slowly starting to get back on track.

GHC Heavyweight Champion Mitsuharu Misawa just sent word through the NOAH offices that he will defend the GHC Heavyweight Title on November 3rd in Manhattan against KENTA. The eyes of the wrestling world will be on Manhattan this Saturday. Get tickets now at www.ROHwrestling.com and www.Tickets.com or by calling 215-781-2500.

Misawa wants his appearances in ROH to be as big and important as possible so he will put his title on the line. KENTA has come close to winning the GHC Heavyweight Title in the past and is considered one of NOAH's top stars. He has not fought Misawa in a singles match since he was an upcoming youngster in 2004. KENTA will make the most of this opportunity and promises to give Misawa his toughest fight.

Misawa vs. KENTA was a Budokan Hall level main event before, but now the stakes couldn't be any higher. It will be interesting to see how Misawa & KENTA work together as a team when they battle Takeshi Morishima & Naomichi Marufuji on November 2nd in Philadelphia. This once-in-a-lifetime epic tag will feature several interesting match ups including Morishima vs. Misawa and the classic KENTA vs. Marufuji rivalry.

This will be the second consecutive year that the GHC Heavyweight Title is defended on "Glory By Honor" weekend. This will be a weekend that Mitsuharu Misawa will always remember as he comes to secure his legacy in the United States. Now Misawa has put the top prize in NOAH on the line.

Yeah I think that looks like his "back to the crowd" pose there.

I'm slowly creeping toward "don't care" mode with the SAVEUS. Seriously, stop teasing us. Anyone remember roughly how long they milked the Y2K countdown with him the first time?

Orton and Michaels at Survivor Series? Please, Vince. Like we don't see a return to the screwjob coming, this time against Michaels.

Personally I like this build for Jericho. Beyond giving the his return a true sense of importance - to the point that people have actively started cheering for him - I think the company will protect Jericho in his return and book him properly because he is young and healthy enough to carry a large load for the company and I'm sure they know how valuable he is to them.

On the other hand I'm happy that with the string of recent injuries, new faces have been getting pushed (Hardy, Kennedy, DH Smith, Cade, Murdoch) and getting TV time and it seems fresh. Much better than the Superman Cena run I had gotten used to over the past year.

"Mike Johnson is reporting that Junior Fatu (Rikishi) is already gone from TNA Wrestling. He did not appear at the iMPACT! tapings tonight in Orlando, Florida and was replaced in the "Fight For the Right" #1 contender's tournament. According to the report, Junior Fatu was asking for more money but management decided to let him go because they have not been impressed with his attitude or in ring work."

Fine, I did it. I am happy... :)

Two VERY nice points about the tag match: FINALLY a ref "doesn't see the heels tag," and makes them switch back. That only happens to faces, usually. Nice touch. And, Harry Smith sold that leg like a fucking champ... I was impressed after the hot tag to Hardy, and triply impressed when he sold post-match.

Am I the only one that noticed when Austin was announced as appearing next week, the crowd went totally mild?

Dead is the more appropriate word. You could hear crickets chirping in the crowd in fact.

I guess there's buzz that Big Show might be Sting's mystery partner, too.

I believe they were pissed at the tease.

just got around to skimming through some of Cyber Sunday this morning. Now personally, I think a lot of people are overlooking some damn fine wrestling, based on their disdain for the overall booking. HBK vs. Orton, inconsequential as it may be in the current "big picture," was a fantastic match! Not even in the usual awesome HBK way... I feel like they really broke from the "routine" in that match. It felt fresh.

Stretcher match was really great too. It felt "creative" and it kept my attention the whole time.

I forget which one of you posted that inbred pic of me, but dont blame me for my parent's mistakes. Assign responsibility based upon what a person has done, not what they are.

Comical that someone in this stupid ass wrestling thread would even bring up inbreeding; I imagine its a sensitive subject for a lot of people in here.

I never said videogames or movies or any other TV for that matter is real, but wrestling!? C'mon man wrestling? Its supposed to be (or original was) a competitive sport. I just pointed out that its all fake to enlighten stupid idiots who do think its real. If you all know its fake then what is the attraction. I'm not trying to be a total dick here, (just a major one) so please enlighten me. If you are going to mention the chicks, they are banging, but if thats what you're into just get a porno or hop on the internet.

That original post of mine was not meant to imply that you're smart at all (you just think you're smart;) ); just that your posts make you sound like such a wimp in real life I'm surprised you would enjoy such violence, even though its FAKE! I keed I keed.

Want to know what I watch on TV? Here goes: Videogames take up the most time, family guy, (obviously alot of adult swim shows), simpsons, movies (all kinds), pretty much anythign on the history channel, discovery channel, or animal planet, daily show/colbert, the news, football...

Damn I'm combative today. I dont really know why either Im just kind of ina frisky mood and think wrestling is stupid as hell and get pissed that it (and nascar) take up so damn much air time:bomb: . I bet it's a safe bet that the overwhelming majority of people in here are NASCAR fans as well right...? Figures. You may be wondering how I can purport to know so much about wrestling fans. Well, I personally have been unlucky enough to meet every single wrestling fan in the entire world.

I hate to lower myself to picking on grammar and the correct and incorrect use of apostrophes but since someone brought it up: whoever said that "whats" is correctly spelled "what's" is a fuckin idiot. It should be "what is." I actually knew that but was being lazy. I was however shocked that someone in this thread actually realized "Whats" is incorrect.

You're being patronizing which is why people haved bashed you and are going to continue to bash you.

Laughable at best

Meatwad doesn't pretend to be real. He was never a competitive sport and never purported to be a "real" competition. Plus he is animated and in a cartoon. Your analogy fails.

Of course I am going to get bashed in here, I came in here specifically to flame the hell out of all of you and wrestling in general. It kind of reminds me when Borat when to the Texas rodeo and began speaking about how much better Khazakastan was than the US.

Seriously though, all flaming and previous stupidity aside, I really don't get it (or NASCAR). I realize its popular and, at least now, realize that fans don't think its real. I guess this is what I dont get: If you know its fake then where is the enjoyment?

I love the steelers, UFC, boxing, and sports in general, but if I knew that it was all fake and the outcome of any given game/match/bout was predetermined it would ruin it for me and I would lose all interest because what attracted me to the sport is now lost (namely, the anything-can-happen and competitive feel).

So what is so great about wrestling that makes it so entertaining when there is no sport in it?

To be fair, I don't give a good goddamn what you watch. If you think something is stupid, don't watch it and don't comment on it. Just like I'm not going to comment on your liking of Family Guy. Fair? Fair.

Yeah, thats fair. I realize im not gonna make any friends in here by raggin on wrestling.

At the very least I can explain what I like about the stuff I watch. I like family guy because the show makes me laugh, stewie is fuckin hilarious, and the type of comedy they have is really edgy. I like the hist/disc. shows becaue they're educational and usually about stuff I'm interested in.

Nobody has done this yet for wrestling. What is the attraction (besides the chicks who look like porn stars)?
Meatwad doesn't pretend to be real. He was never a competitive sport and never purported to be a "real" competition. Plus he is animated and in a cartoon. Your analogy fails.
Wrestling hasn't pretended to be real in a long, long time. Long before either you or I were born.

Wrestlers are characters, and are often portrayed with fictitious gimmicks such as vampires and superheroes. People watch wrestling for the same reason they watch cartoons, not for the same reason they watch sports.

Where else can you see a voodoo shaman fight a tax accountant, or a cowboy fight a clown? Certainly not in an octagon.

But you're right about Nascar.

Jeff Jarrett said it best, "To those who love pro wrestling, it's inexplicable. To those who don't, it's unfathomable." You don't get it and nothing I can say or show you can make it different.

In related news, the wrestling thread finally has it's own personal X-pac. Thanks Pitt.
Myke it always surprises me you post so much on these wrestling threads. This will probably be my first and last because...and this may shock some of you....
