Terry Funk's wrestling topic
Yeah, it was at the very end, within the last half hour. Basically look for Grant, Jason, Steve, some other lady and Elijah to be standing around, and then Elijah will be running off arms flailing like a little girl shortly after that. He throws his cell phone and runs screaming down the hallway.
The WCE

That settles it for me, no one runs like that, an obvious scripted deal. Not that I'm telling you anything you didn't already know.
The hell with co-creating it, count me in "for two"? I'd like to make a number of those documentaries chronicling what the hell is wrong with American society. It's the "stereo-typical" wrestling fans that Mike speaks of that sometimes makes me ashamed to be such a long-time fan myself. Now that the Monday Night Wars are over and wrestling's popularity has dwindled it's no longer trendy to be a wrestling fan and the previous perception (again as Mike detailed) has resurfaced fresh into the minds of the masses. The Benoit incident certainly didn't help either.

The last two shows I've went to were SD/ECW and WM23. SD/ECW had your typical jerk-off there wearing his championship spinner belt over his heavy gut, his long greasey hair and his clear lack of hygeine. He commented on almost every match and taunted the Miz by saying "You wouldn't last a week at our wrestling school!" Ah... yes, not that I like the Miz, but I'm sure there's at least some reason why he's in the WWE and not training at your school. WWE doesn't just let any regular sized idiot stay in the ring for long with zero ring ability, who knows what happened to the Boogeyman this time. My favorite part was when my girlfriend and I, along with the guys sitting next to us got him to spin his stupid spinner belt. The asshole thought he was the greatest thing in town and had no idea that people were making fun of him.

WM23 wasn't quite as bad, but there were plenty of people with their replica belts on. The best part is when two of those guys are wearing the same replica belt and end up having a staredown of sorts. That part *needs* to go on the documentary.

This could be great. I'd also like documentaries on people that voted for Bush, Wal-mart employees, Ted Nugent fans, college athletes that pinned their life on making the pros and then didn't, and people with an 8th grade education or lower. :whistle2:k Hmm, upon further inspection, this may all be the same documentary. Either way, there's a reason why America is looked up as one of the dumbest countries in the world, these documentaries will delve into that.
Oh, I like the idea of a nerd-with-belt face off. That could even be the coverart!

Your description reminded me of the cat what sat in front of me at Cyber Sunday last year - he didn't have any teeth. He had these little emerald-colored things, either discolored gumline/rotted teeth, or something else. Imagine meth mouth on someone way too fat and unmotivated to smoke methamphetamine.

Dude was gettin' all Rainman on me. I know a lot, and I talk a lot (I'm sure you're shocked!), and I was having a discussion with someone sitting near me about some wrestler...Ken Dykstra, maybe? IIRC, they were still all Spirit Squad at the time. Anyway, I made some mention of Dykstra being very young, but not sure. "Oh, he's 20, or 22...real young" is what I said (roughly).

Suddenly, I hear this monotone blathering. "Ken Leon Dykstra was born September 18th, 1986 in Missoula, Montana, the son of a coal miner and housewife. He trained in Abe Vigoda's All-Star Wrestling in Peoria, Illinois, at age 15...blah, blah, blah." First, I was stunned that someone would know that kind of shit about any wrestler, let alone a nobody. Second, he said all this without looking up or making eye contact with anyone - like he was correcting me, but took little to no interest in whether or not anyone was paying attention. Third, he said it in that sort of disdainful way when someone says something very, very incorrect. Y'know, like if I said "Yeah, I think Triple H beat Magnum TA for the ECW championship in Rio De Janeiro in 1987, when Rugged Ronnie Garvin powerbombed Kevin Sullivan in a Junior division match." Instead, I was merely guessing the age range of a nobody wrestler (and was within 2-3 years!).

I did manage to stump the guy, and get a laff out of the people around me, when I asked him who Dykstra's third grade teacher was.

I need to buy a video camera now.

I did read a book called Slap Happy, part of which followed Luke Hawx from his meager trailer park beginnings (like the guys in the video) to his first training school, IIRC. I can't advise the book, though, as I thought it was one of the worst books imaginable about wrestling.

Impact's only 20 minutes old and it's already hilarious. DW screaming "IT'S A CLUE!!" at the top of his lungs was fabulous, as was Angle's diatribe about having a degree. TNA not thinking of a reason for Fatu being gone is also funny.

Yup, it only took a dozen guys to beat up two - the X division looked GREAT... At least Sabin and Shelley ruled. The guru was surprisingly angry.
That was very well done.
I couldn't agree more. I haven't watched in weeks but seeing that alone makes me want to see the Dudley's get their ass kicked. Very well done.:applause:

I'm a few minutes behind, but Bubba's talking is ON again this week. Work or not, he's doing such a great job I want to see him get his tubby ass handed to him.

I'm very impressed.

Dude lmfao man the Lizard was the best. He made it sound all hardcore and dramatic like he's about to break through the glass in WWF.

I wanna quote the bible...bla bla bla, well it doesn't actually say that but I am. LMFAO. What a clown.
Kong killing red snapper was awesome.
That spinning backfist looked kinda lame until they showed it at a different camera angle (from behind Kong), where it clearly caught square in Hemme's collarbone/neck. Yow!

Also, I don't think comparing her with Mark Henry is appropriate. Her mannerisms and behavior in the ring (plus the fact that she doesn't talk and makes peculiar facial expressions) remind me more of Kamala without all the racist imagery, or, more recently, Umaga.

That torture rack variation she used was impressive as well.

What's wrong with comparing Amazing Kong with Mark Henry? It would be The World's Strongest Man and Woman team.

That team would destroy the two teams on TNA right now.
I haven't seen Kong injure anyone yet. ;)
Haha, that tortue rack move is brutal looking though. Does that count?

Harris has apparently been "BREAKING THE GLASS CEILING" for about four months now... yeah, he ain't doing that. Excellent brawl by Roode and Joe. Highlight of the show so far.
SvR 2008 review:

Sounds pretty weak. All I want is for them to fix the stupid collision detection. It always pisses me off when hair is sticking through bodies, arms are going through ropes, and body parts are going through body parts. If they would just fix this (and make the CAWs not look like ass compared to the actual roster) I'd have no problem buying another SvR game.

I don't know if I'm gonna get SvR this time around.

I probably will, since it has Funk, Sabu, Sandman and Dreamer.
That was a great iMPACT!.
Indeed.

SvR sounds only marginally better than last year, but since liongames had it for $45, I'm not too irate. Besides, custom themes FTMFW.

If that's true, that means me & Dykstra share the same birthday, down to the same year of birth.

Honestly I can't really remember any crazy ass wrestling fans at the shows I went to. Then again I was usually in the cheap seats, unless it was a house show.

Come to think of it, I do remember spending a good deal of Great American Bash 2005 explaining to a single mom (who bought her 12-year-old son) all the minor characters and storylines that were happening at the time (at the PPV).

He's been trying to break that damn ceiling since 2004. Sorry Wildcat, Cowboy, but you guys just don't have a future that doesn't involve the initials "AMW"

I'd be getting it if I still played videogames as rabidly as I used to. I still haven't even finished the campaigns in halo or bioshock yet. I'm hoping to do that this weekend before Call of Duty 4 comes out and consumes my soul next week.

I really wanted to get Smackdown, but I just traded for Skate and Madden 08. I also have GHIII on the way along with Mass Effect. I also still have to finish Halo 3 and start the Orange Box. I've got way too many games to play right now, and there's no use getting another one.

Damn that episode of Impact was awesome.. for a change.

Is it just me or does Miss Brooks look more and more like Dr. Cuddy every week? Oh well...

Looking forward to ROH in Philly later today. :D

Add me on XBL to finish Halo and play Madden (which I recently got).

Still too much garbage, imho. The fact that most of the show was backstage continues to plague it...

Personally I thought it was great...beats the idea of spending 2 to 5 mintues on an entrance

The jokes are flat. The Kurt Angle/Borash stuff is insane. You realize that Jay Lethal is X Division Champion and hasn't wrestled on the show since the last PPV? (he does work a tag match teaming with Abyss next week)

Or--- where'd Triple X go?

Why is the WORLD TITLE on the line in a TAG TEAM MATCH where the champion's partner can WIN THE TITLE?!

Joe and Roode have no real reason for the violent brawl (Roode interfered in a Joe match, but EVERYONE interferes in matches! Why isn't Joe attacking Styles/Tomko too?)...

Chris Harris is whining out of no where after essentially just not being used...

Black Reign is Dustin again for some reason, despite Dustin not being seen as Dustin for a long time...

Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin don't get to continue in a tournament because of the actions of SOMEONE ELSE, but Christian Cage and Chris Harris go right into the semis despite not taking part or not qualifying... the FINALS of said tournament have been labeled as at GENESIS for 4 weeks and now they're saying it's next week? (not giving spoilers here)...

The Motor City Machine Guns can only get revenge on the "mean" Team 3D in a 100 on 2 attack. And hey, even then Team 3D leaves on their own power. Yeah, this is wonderful...

The two hour shows have done nothing more than show us just how limited their writing staff is, honestly. (no personal attacks).

I want to talk positively, I want TNA to succeed...
