Texas Hold Em: XBLA - Free from 8/23 for 48 hours, 800 points afterwards

Sucks that its not free, but the system of how you get money back sounds good. Atleast you get a game with half the people going all-in each hand. Now they have to actually work to get some money back.

I'd have to say those are some pretty sweet acheivements, atleast they are going to take some playing to get (ecspecially the Royal)
This title is worthless if it doesn't come out (well) before WSOP.
What if WSOP sucks though?
Also, really what more do people want out of a poker game aside from the online games and tournies?

I'm sure it won't "suck" to me...I've played the heck out of it on my psp. And the preview/webcam video they showed during e3 week looked stunning.
I've never gotten a Royal Flush in my life so I guess I won't be getting that achievement.
lol yeah been play poker for all most 15 years and the only few time i have got one was with wilds ..
lol yeah been play poker for all most 15 years and the only few time i have got one was with wilds ..
Same here, my friend hit one while I was with him on a video poker machine, it was his last 25 cents and he hit it. $2,500 off a quarter.

Other than that I've never seen one.

Good find deadite76!
Very interesting indeed...I'd imagine (hope) it will hold true for North America too.

I'll update the OP.

EDIT: OMG...the page is gone...damn, I didn't screen cap it!

Texas Hold ‘em full version download available to gamers for free for 48 hours on Live Arcade

Enjoy poker night every night with friends, family and gamers around the world.

Microsoft isn’t bluffing: Gamers can log onto Xbox Live within the first 48 hours after launch and download Texas Hold ‘em – completely free of charge! This full-featured poker title for Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360 will launch on Wednesday, August 23 at 6pm EST.

For 48 hours only – Wednesday, August 23 through to 6pm EST Friday, August 25 – as a special limited-time only promotion, gamers can download and own the game at no charge (for all Xbox Live Gold and Silver members). Starting at 6:01pm EST Friday, August 25, Texas Hold ‘em for Xbox Live Arcade will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.

This title comes equipped with features that can only be found on Xbox 360. Designed to simulate the risk-reward of real poker gameplay, keep gamers honest, and discourage opponents from betting too recklessly, Texas Hold ’em has an innovative new feature called Persistent Bankroll. Your virtual bankroll is tied to your Xbox Live Gamertag and keeps a running tally of your chip count. If you lose all of your chips in a poker game, you’ll have to play lower stakes buy-in games to make back your stack and earn your way to the big tables.

Texas Hold ’em also offers multiplayer support for up to eight gamers, three modes of gameplay (Standard Games, Scenarios and Tournaments), Achievements, extensive online leaderboards, statistics and high-definition graphics. Enjoy poker night every night with friends, family and gamers around the world (please note that this title may not be available in some countries).

In addition to the exciting release of Texas Hold ’em on August 23, gamers can also look forward tonewgame titles and premium downloadable game content on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays from August 16 to September 6, including:

* Cloning Clyde Picture Pack, the action adventure/puzzle game created by Wahoo Studios/NinjaBee (developer of the popular Outpost Kaloki X for Xbox Live Arcade), will have four new gamer picture packs available on Xbox Live Marketplace on Wednesday, August 16, allowing gamers to check out more unique pictures of Clyde. Each gamer picture pack: 100 Microsoft Points each.
* Time Pilot, the futuristic fighter pilot classic from Konami, lets gamers fight through different eras like never before. High-definition graphics and enhanced gameplay designed specifically for Xbox Live Arcade makes this version even better than the original from 1982. Gamers can download Time Pilot on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, August 30. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.
* Scramble, the classic side-scrolling ‘shoot-‘em up’ coin-op title from Konami, takes off on Xbox Live Arcade. The 1981 classic, widely considered the first ‘multi-level shooter,’ launches on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday September 6. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.

If that does happen this game is gonna set a record for the most downloads in 2 days and then again for the least amount for the time after

thats sad 800 points for a card game ... . i dont see how this would be better then any of the FREE online poker games you can play fuck MS

lol who am i kindding i am sure many people will buy it

I really hope it does end up being free here.

Even if it doesn't end up being free here, we can just make a silver Australian account and download it for free during those two days.
I really hope it does end up being free here.

Hopefully MS will just save us some trouble and do the promotion everywhere, if they do it at all. I'm still willing to pay $5 for it (free's good, though), but there's not a chance that I will pay 800 points.

I think if it does go for free for 2 days it'll be in every region. It's probably MS trying to make up for the fact that they told us forever the game would be free and then when they lost the sponsor they slapped a (apparently) $10 fee on it.

Just watch, the servers are gonna get absolutely pounded for those 48 hours and hardly anyone is gonna be able to download it...

Good thing it's just a card game, so the size of the download shouldn't be that bad.

Say if it was a demo of Halo 3 available for only 2 days at 1GB+....I wouldn't even want to think about it.

Yeah, that is a good point. Anyone know/remember what the download size of Uno is?
Yeah, that is a good point. Anyone know/remember what the download size of Uno is?
I think it was under 25 MB.

The servers are going to get whacked, but with the active download stuff now...everyone who wants it...will probably get it.

I wish Microsoft would make this the norm to give away content. I know its probably not possible, but they should do away with the Xbox Live Marketplace codes. You know, offer something like content for Gears of War for free for the first 48 hours for those who buy it on Day 1 or pre-order it. Then offer the content for a price after that period.

I dont think the servers will be as bad as people think. You should be able to download this in a minute or two. I plan on doing it at 7:30am EST on the 23rd before going to work with my dad, so I couldn't imagine that being a super popular time.

Ok, now that it's confirmed for the U.S. I guess it's not too bad. Everyone who was promised a free THEM game can get it...unless their XBox is in repair during the 48 hour period.
PGR 3 Theme deck for UNO? Hot damn.
My eyes must be broken. Where are you seeing this?

I'll have to remember to DL this early on day 1.

It's toward the bottom of the page. It says:

Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays

UNO Theme Deck: UNO is the hugely popular Xbox Live Arcade card game from Carbonated Games, and it adds a new theme deck to its stable on Wednesday August 16, based on the hit Xbox 360 racing title Project Gotham Racing® 3. Find it on Xbox Live Marketplace for 100 Microsoft Points.

Time Pilot: This futuristic fighter pilot classic from Konami lets you fight through different eras like never before. High-definition graphics and enhanced gameplay designed specifically for Xbox Live Arcade makes this version even better than the original from 1982. I'm happy that Texas Hold Em will be free and that they're making a new UNO deck, PGR3 themed no less. Since PGR3 and UNO are some of my favorite 360 games, I might pay 100 points for it if it looks good.
PGR 3 Theme deck for UNO? Hot damn.
Hmmm....looks like they removed the PGR3 theme deck announcement. It's not where it was earlier. Wonder what happened with that?

I hope people are reading it correctly. It's FREE for 48 Hours, then gives you the option to Trial or Buy It. Not FREE For 48 hours for unlimited play.

Wrong. It will be free after that time also.
