That Triple E3 2008 Thread
Watch the 1up Show last week and see the gameplay footage they had.
Well that is Killzone 2 footage almost 3 full years (or is it just 2?) since the all-CG Killzone 2 trailer so while Killzone 2 seems to look pretty good, it was still a big time gap between the CG trailer and the final product. Same with FFXIII it seems. They've basically shown the same footage for the last 3 years, 95% of which is all CG even now and the game still doesn't even have a launch window. That said, we'll probably be enjoying God of War 3 Fall/Winter 2009.
It's big news for MS. FF13 is huge.
its no Halo or GoW...it will bomb on 360 since its VERY easy to pirate games on there + not a lot of rpg fans on 360

we shall see...i dont think so though, but then again im a sony fanboy

That could cloud your judgment, but I don't know of a multiplatform game that has sold better on the PS3 that was released around the same time.

Sony needs to stop screwing around and pick one SKU and stick with it, jeebus. I'm glad they're unifying online IDs, will make playing online more fun. Also, using Little Big Planet for all of the stuff that would normally be on powerpoint was awesome.

You must have missed the announcement that they're sticking with the 80 GB as their only SKU.

No, it's a 40gb with an 80gb HDD.

AHAHAHA Oh my god the LULZ. Devil May Cry 4 sold better on PS3 DESPITE having eight million less units! You honestly believe that FF will do any better on the 360 now that the gap is more 4-5 million units? I LAUGH AT THEE.
No, it's a 40gb with an 80gb HDD.
It's still the only SKU they'll have, which is the important thing that he wasn't aware of.

I dunno, I will pick up FF13 on PS3 if not only for it being on one disc. It's pretty much a given that it'll be on a dual layer BR disc. If not, two discs max, it'll be much more convenient.

Regarding something selling more on PS3, things are catching up.. for every ten copies of NCAA I sold on 360, I sold 8 more on PS3.. it was weird hearing people ask for the PS3 version so often

Since the 40gb sku is going into exile... question is... Will its price be dropped, and by how much. a priced drop 40gb could do well this year at least it'll be around to compete against the price dropped 20gb 360.
Without Japan, which is only fair since the 360 version isn't being released there and we live in America.
Every game is counted world wide. Sorry. And blame square for it not coming to Japan. The 360 is in a Genesis situation in all truthfulness.

I count worldwide sales to see the true numbers. I can very easily just point to Japan sales of games and say SEE! PS3 SUPERIOR TO 360! IT"S SELLING 100 to 1! Let's do world sales in the name of fairness.
You don't live in Japan.
It was a sad day for us all when you learned english, and how to speak. oh well..
Thomas, I can't wait for you to learn English. That will be a grand day, indeed. ^__^
Gracias Senora Zew, En la futuro me necesita hablo ingles es muy necesario. En la dia tu compreden las persons aqui, es la dia de muy bueno!

Considering the past SKU's they've discontinued, I doubt it. It'll probably be up to the retailer.
It's still the only SKU they'll have, which is the important thing that he wasn't aware of.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. They've come out with so many SKUs in the past that they've completely confused the crap out of me, and I'm not some casual gamer either. Hopefully they stick with it this time.

They probably moved on to the 80GB cause they want people to have enough space to fill it up with their "competitively priced" video content.
http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/19937

All of that was shown three years ago?
I could have phrased it a lot better but what I was trying to say was there was almost three years in between the fully CG trailer of Killzone 2 we all saw originally and the new footage you were talking about on 1Up and even now the game still isn't out.

Looks like some proper spanish classes are needed as well :D

Ya but to be fair the only system in recent history that has not had many different SKUs is the Wii, and just give that one some time and it will also (we all know it will happen).

I am willing to bet that in the not so distant future the BC PS3 will be history for good.

When the PS3 first came out, wasn't Sony bragging about its already huge video game library counting PS1 and PS2 games.

No BC on future PS3s is gonna suck. I guess the ultimate PS3 is the 60GB. Is it possible to upgrade the harddrive on the 60GB?

I already have an 80GB. I realize I don't use BC, but thats because I gotta buy adaptors for the GH controllers and PS2 controllers or I gotta get more PS3 controllers.

The PS3 has a weird lag on PS1 games. It's only noticeable on games that require precision like DDR or Hot Shots Golf 2.

yea it lags with HDMI

I thought the conference was pretty underwhelming regarding PS3 news but I'm stoked that the new slim PS2 (with a built-in power supply) is coming to the US. I was also pleased with the Ratchet PSP bundle since I'm still waiting in the wings to purchase a PSP.

They're some stubborn sonsabitches when it comes to price drops on the PS2 and PSP, aren't they?

Sony really needed a BIG surprise to get people talking, and they came up short.

They did get an exclusive, God of War 3, out for the public to talk about, but the loss of FF exclusivity is just too big a blow for them.

I was really hoping they were going to start talking about upcoming PSN games, PS1 downloads and maybe a few RPG announcements.....but nothing on all of those. (Oh I guess Ratchet & Clank counts)

It's just discouraging to see what they could and should be doing, yet aren't for some inexplicable reason.

Sony is doing a pretty good, overall the needed games and they did a good job showcasing games.
Thers not one genre that the 360 has thats not covered on Sony's side. and i ask, where's the 360 MMO?

Yahoo already said Sony won. Though Yahoo is filed with idiot spoons, unfortunately millions upon millions more read Yahoo then any gaming site.

Overall, I think Sony won E3.

Not because they had a particularly strong conference though, just because the others were underwhelming.

MSFT showed too many casual games and the stupid Your in the Movies game pretty much ruined their conference.

Sony showed some new stuff that we hadn't seen before, such as Ratchet and Clank: quest for booty (which I am uber excited for) Stardust PSP, Patapon 2, Locoroco 2, More Infamous, MAG (which I am very interested to hear more about this game) God of War III (YAY!), and of course the first glimpse into DC Universe game, which to me looks very interesting although the combat looked sort of clunky, the premise of the game is awesome.

Some dissapointing things were obviously no White Knight Story, The Agency not being more shown off, No gameplay footage of MAG, Still nothing on that Rockstar exclusive, Nothing on Heavy Rain or that one game the dude was boasting about at GDC.

Although losing FF XIII is a big blow, however, there is still plenty to be excited about on the PS3.

Okay, to be fair, there were games.

One PSN game, one exclusive that everyone expected and some sequels to some fairly well received PS3 games.

There was *no* emphasis on the kind of PSN downloads that Japan are getting and that we *should* be getting. (IE Xenogears, Einhander, etc). Nothing on Siren Blood Curse (doesn't that come out next month?), nothing on that other PSN game I can't remember the name of - the semi-interactive one with the weird looking tentacle thing, nothing on Flower, nothing on highlighting the kind of original content, like Echochrome, that the PSN is starting to get.

They blew a big chance there.

My *hope* is they're scambling in the background to try and get a few exclusive titles for the system, particularly RPGs, because the lack of third party exclusivity is starting to look pretty grim.

Besides Resistance, was anything announced for PSP? Anything at all?

*No* Home date....again. It's starting to become a joke along the lines of Duke Nukem 3D.

So many blown chances.

that money sony saved by not paying (Enough) to keep FFXIII exclusive should be poured into GOW3 development & marketing

Ahh, were we watching the same conference?

Siren Blood curse was shown at the conference, wasn't street dated or anything, but was shown. I hadn't seen Super Stardust PSP before, first time Patapon 2 and Locoroco 2 were shown, downloadable movie service.

And I don't think PS1 titles on the store is really something that needs to be shown at E3.

Flower and Pixeljunk eden were shown, First time Ragdoll Kung Fu, Fat Princess and Crash Commando.

And Home has already been confirmed to have an open beta this year, sometime in October and November.

And I think you are starting to see a shift from Sony in their priorities in RPG. With the success of WoW, they are seeing that those are the types of RPGS that we are starting to prefer. Hence why you are seeing The Agency, DC MMO, and the one with NC Soft.

And they announced two brand new games on the PS3, God of War III and MAG, and showed off InFamous which looks fantastic.

They also announced a video service that everyone has been clamoring for and it seems sick.

I honestly don't know how you can say that the didn't show enough games, or didn't announce enough new ones.

They only have an hour and a half, they can't talk about EVERYTHING.

I downloaded GOW 3 off the store and holy fuckin shit. I hope the game actually looks like that.

I think at this point no one even takes Home seriously. I lost complete interest in it.

I really hope Sony gets on the ball and hypes the hell out of Resistance 2. I think that's going to be there big game later this year. If they can combo that with LBP they should be alright.

Yeah, the definitely need to hype up Resistance 2. It looks so very awesome, and I'm sure it could be a huge hit if they actually advertise it.
