i'll probably pick up Niki- Rock 'n' Ball. i'm not expecting it to be amazing. but it looked kind of fun. and i like the look of Coraline. but i watched the trailer and it looked pretty lame. and i didn't realize it was based on movie until just the other day.

Was Coraline based on the book or the movie? I read the book once and didn't really get the hype. Is the movie supposed to be good?

From the screens I've seen, it's pretty reflective of the movie style (i.e. Dave McKean's art), but I guess that could be said for the book as well.

I'll probably end up getting Rygar. I never played it before and I like stupid adventure games like that as long as they have a reasonable amount of save points. I hate games that force you to play in 20+ minute installments. There are very few good reasons why I shouldn't be able to turn my console off at any point in a game and resume play where I left off.

One of the things I absolutely love about the DS.

Anyway, Coraline looks sort of neat, but, being a licensed game, should be $20 or so sooner or later.

And frankly, I don't see it being worth it until that point, or even lower. Then again I widely have low opinions of licensed games....
 
well, i bought Niki- Rock 'n' Ball. i'm through 12 levels out of a 100 or so.

the jumping mechanic is a little different. you can't just roll and hit A to jump at a specific moment. you more or less just hold A down to just jump endlessly, and let go of it to stop jumping. and the motion control for left or right works okay. i wish i could hold the wii mote nes style and move left or right by tilting it that way. but you have to hold it remote style.

and so far, the levels aren't all that compelling, but it's just relaxing fun.
 
I was going to say I had gotten SimAnimals, then I realized that was last week. I just didn't see it until yesterday I guess.
 
Snowboard Riot looks like a neat game. I wish I could try it before I buy it so I can tell whether or not the balance board worked well or not. I really don't feel like shelling out another $10 for a game that looks cool but plays like crap.

Why can't Nintendo just let us demo games? I'd even be willing to pay $1 per demo that only lasted for 24 hours.

both LIT and deadly creatures look interesting to me. i'll get deadly creatures, but i'll wait a little bit. as for LIT, unless the reviews tank, i'll download this right away.
 
This is such a good week. Especially for zombie games, but I will get Deadly Creatures and maybe even the stupid kart racing game too. There have been too many weeks since the holidays with no games. And even though I've already played through Onechanbara in Japanese I will still get it in English. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. It's like Dynasty Warriors with zombies.
 
MERCS! I loved this game when it was on the arcades and the genesis version is just as great but only single player. hopefully sega may remake it on wiiware or reintroduce the game into new comtemperary format, but not fps format.
 
Battle Rage looks fantastic, but we've all been misled by faux screenshots before. And somehow, I don't think that's what it will actually look like on my Wii.
 
i'm very excited for evasive space. i've actually been looking forward to this one for a while. and i'm still yet to pick up LIT and deadly creatures. but i will.
 
So, this week has Dead Rising and C64 games coming to America. The death of GameRankings also cuts down the amount of games that'll have ranking summaries for the time being...

We were mislead. I played it last night and it's horrible. It looks bad and plays even worse. It did make me wish Sega would port some version of Virtual On to the Wii.
 
Just an idle bump- apparently GameRankings isn't dead, but it's not nearly as useful as it once was.
 
Got all the new arcade stuff up. (Japan's listing based on Joystiq's report, since I can't exactly check that myself...)

I'd just like to point out that among this week's games is one called "Cook or Be Cooked". This seems like an unsettling premise for a TV channel tie-in.
