The DH rule is not real baseball. It prevents all the subs from staying sharp and getting to play. Pitchers are athletes and should be able to hit and bunt. If they want more offense they should just make all the parks like the Reds stupid little park.
Go A's!!! Fear Rich Harden
wow...first wang goes down untill sept for the yanks while running the bases. Hank goes crazy telling the NL to move to the 21st century and get a DH. If you think things can't go worse in NY, then

The mets fire willie randolph by mass email at 3am. The email was sent to willie and the press. How fucking shady is that shit? Did he deserve to go? Without a doubt but have a sack, meet the guy and tell him like a man.
Omar Minaya is a classes piece of garbage. The Mets need to rid of him more than Willie.

I think minaya is a horrible gm and decision maker, but was it his idea to email or the owners...as far as I have seen it is a mixed report on that.

Omar did take the Mets from the gutter to a contender but I question a ton of his decisions. He said in the press conference today that he spoke to Willie last night and told him face to face.

did he really do much...didn't they already have reyes/wright in the organization when he took over. He overpaid for pedro, delgado, and carlos beltran. He held onto miledge too long, and could have gotten a much better deal if they let him go early.

He did over pay for Pedro but that led to other FA's coming to the team, like Beltran. But I do agree he is not a good GM. The team was one game from the WS so he built a team for one strong run. Obviously his decisions suck because they are now facing the consequences of having an old team.

yeah the moves he made left us vulnerable. We have no one to put in LF that can consistently hit..and now RF is a problem. We have the worst corner OFs in all of baseball right now.

I dont really like Manuel as Manager either. I was hoping to see Wally Backman or anyone else with some fire to be coach. Nothing good will come of this situation. I hope to hear Leo Mezzone as the new pitching coch but who knows if thats going to happen.

Omar's small moves is what killed us. We Gave away Bannister for nothing, Jacobs,Petit, and Lindstrom for nothing, Heath Bell For Nothing, i know there is another move for nothing he did also but i cant remember it. We got alot of nothing for something. Thats what killed Omar. The only small moves that somehow worked out was Schnieder,Church and Perez. and even thats not going well now. The whole front office needs an overhaul. From Tony "Sucknut" Bernazard to whoever else makes decisions.

i also think letting Tom Nieto was stupid. What did he do to get fired?

the rays have played really well at home this season, and they aren't that bad of a team...they have been a decent team for years, that would lose late in games due to a poor bullpen...

schilling is done for the season, maybe forever. He is going to get the surgery that he wanted to get back in feb.

without a doubt I think they will collapse in late july/aug...but as I said at the start of the season that would cause a lot of problems for the team coming out of the east, and possibly a 2nd or 3rd place finish...

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't bashing the Ray as they are an excellent team this year. I was just hoping my Cubbies could at least win one of the three games against them. We've had so much trouble on the road. If we don't improve the second half of our schedule could be our downfall.

Dammit Red Sox if there's a time to sweep a series it's this weekend against the Cards...

Thats what I was thinking with the Cubbies against the Rays, as a Sox fan.

Though its a double bonus as a Reds fanm as well, for them to beat the Yanks last night.

Yeah I guess we didn't help each other out this week like I thought we would.

EDIT: What the heck is going on with Marmol all of the sudden? He was our lockdown guy out of the pen and now all of the sudden he can't find the plate.

Just got home and turned on the game, D-backs 2 - 0 against the Red Sox? Nice.

Lets hope they don't throw it away like the game against the Twins.

Marshall's making his first start of the year in place of Z. Our bats are hot so he should have the run support.

In this article they talk about release points. It was weird to see him alone in the pen during the 8th of the last game then they put Howry in.

Patterson is playing well. Hopefully we can show something off good enough to impress Cleveland.

 Doesn't take much these days. It's baffling how Cleveland can bring back most of the same guys from last year and still be wallowing well below .500.

clev. started off slow last year. IIRC, they didn't get going untill hafner got going (he started shitty last year as well). While cliff lee is pitching out of his mind, carmona has been on the DL for about a month or so.
how about felix hernandez jacking up johan santana for a grand slam?
Yeah, Johan seems to be giving up HR's to everyone. Wright's error led to that situation, but no excuse for Johan to let up a HR to a pitcher.

isnt the first time it happend.....Dontrelle got us the same way couple years ago......

We are 1 game under 500 and manuel has a record of .500 as of now lol.

well we got Wayne Krivsky as "Special Assistant" i hope he replaces Bernazard or Minaya.at this point im really fed up with the rosters moves and how everything has been mishandled.

you gotta get rid of minaya...the money spent on delgado and pedro was too much for their age and the contracts were too long. Beltran was overpaid as well for what he produces at the time of the signing. IMO, you overpaid and have too long of a contract with santana. He was a mediocre/horrible pitcher the 2nd half of last year. His fastball was/is down. IMO he won't be a #1 pitcher at the end of the long ass contract, and I question if he will have the goods to be a #1 on a world series contending team next year.

The Mets overpay for everyone all the time - Frank Viola? Mo Vaughn? Rickey Henderson? Vince Coleman? The list is practically endless. I really hope they turn it around but they are realistically looking at an 82-85 win season which won't get it done.
Hey! My dad played little league with Frank Viola. My grandpa was his coach.
I didn't say he wasn't good - he just wasn't good once the Mets got him. ;)

EDIT: Except, apparently, 1990. Damn I seem to have blocked that one out...

I agree with most if not all with what your saying. Minaya set us up to vulnerable with these old guys. i think he is living wayyyy to much in the past. I feel like he is hoping that these guys will have their last wind and bring them glory. He also traded away prospects that are flourishing now, that we could have used. Its why Krivsky was brought in. I really think if the team keeps playing .500 ball.....Minaya,Bernazard, and whoever else is with them, will be on their way out. Beltran hasnt produced nothing near to what his contract is paying him. I like him alot....but 117 million is like mo vaugn numbers. If anyone, Wright should have gotten that contract...well if they were to overpay someone. Its not like the mets are giving Santana a chance to win either. Offense is utterly terrible...so no matter how he pitches he is gonna lose, because the mets never seem score when he needs them to. Its like Minaya was being mind controlled by steve phillips to commit revenge on the Mets for firing him. They should just dump Alou,Delgado, and anyone else old and not producing now..and eat their salaries. We are better off without Delgado at the plate..and alou just eats money while he is sitting on his couch.

dont forget Bobby Bonilla, Brett Saberhagen,Eddie Murray,Daryl Hamilton...endless is correct. im afraid that record could be a reality all said and done.....

here is a current list of the current mets overpaid salaries.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=nym

 Moises Alou and El Duque are 5th and 6th highest paid players on the team and they havent done anything.....wow can i have their job?

Delgado, Alou, Pedro, and El Duque are all free agents year. That is ALOT of cap relief.

Ehh Minaya will give Wright and Reyes MEGA deals and you'll be back to cap hell for the next decade.

the yanks have a shitload of contracts ending this season as well...hopefully we will see a spending spree come out of NY....with sabathia and texeria free agents might be an interesting offseason.

and thas what im afraid of. Both NY teams have the highest payroll and both teams have about half the roster leaving after this year......both of those guys will easily get over 100 million when they hit market. I dont know if the mets are willing to spend 100 million on a third player..which i dont want them to. im sick of these loaded contracts. i just wish we had the prospects we traded away in prior deals. we would be no where near the mess we are right now...as i would like to think that.....

Neither the Mets or Yanks will take on Texeria. Yankees will probably make a move on Sabathia if my Cubbies don't trade for him and extend him soon. Pettite and the Moose are probably done after this year leaving Yankees with only one proven starter on their entire staff.

the really interesting thing at this years trading deadline, besides which teams have given up, is what the redsox will do. Assuming big pappi comes back, they really don't have much need on the ballclub. They have a very deep rotation with beckett, dice k, lester, wakefield, colon, masterson, and buckholtz all with starting time this year.

But they could go and grab a sabathia/harden or texeria at the deadline and trade what they deem some b prospects. Like micheal bowdon who is dominating in AA right now. With the depth at the major league and minor league level they don't have much of a space for some of the guys at AA. They could get a rental player and let him wak at the end of the season and offer arbitration to get the 2 sandwich picks. That way they traded some potential stud for a 2month rental and 2 more potential younger studs.

Once we get Sabathia and we will have the best rotation in the MLB.

1. Carlos Zambrano
2. C.C. Sabathia
3. Ryan Dempster
4. Ted Lilly
5. Jason Marquis

Rumor is they are looking at an experienced #2 starter, essentially to replace Schilling. More for the playoffs than the regular season.

Sabathia looks cooked. But Ben Sheets could be available if the Brewers fall out of it, he won't sign before he hits free agency. Though his arm is made of glass.

Yeah I saw the mcadams article about it...personally I am fine with dice k as the #2. He has been rather solid so far this season. While he isn't a shutdown #2 guy like a sheets/sabathia/harden, he is still solid. When lester pitching #3 and either wakefield/colon as the #4 guy in the rotation for the playoffs, I am fine with that against any other teams top 4.

Duchsherer
Eveland
Smith
Blanton
Harden

That's filthy. I see a lot of A's games when the Giants are on, and the Eveland guy is going to be Cy-Young quality in a year or two.

Twins are in San Diego, and they have this Carsoup email question they do. Last night, "Baxter from San Diego" asked a question. Tonight, "Brick Tamland from San Diego" had the question.

Awesome.
Jim Edmonds has homered four times in the past four games.
which is a amazing or he just getting lucky like Delgado did last night lol.

I was so sure i could write, "suck it yankees" when i got in to the thread. but after Pedro Martinez pitched another 6 ER game.....i dont know what to say.

I hope Santana can pull it out today because Pettite has been ridiculous as of late.

Pettite is the man, he pick off move is ridiculous, it worked so well he was able to catch reyes sleeping, as for the mussina comment, mussina is a great pitcher also. but i really wasnt paying attention to mariano this season, 22/22 with saves .76 era and something like 9 hits.

yeah Mo is back with a vengence....what a come back year after a dismal last year. the road team has won all 5 games....this could become a funky trend in NY lol.

Crossing my fingers we get the good ollie tomorrow. i never know which one im going to see. I think the mets need this win desperately..if they want any momentum coming in to the next series of games for them.
