Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Ryan Cohen is such a piece of trash. It's yet another example of rich =/= smart. Opportunist sure, and was smart enough to rope in morons to help boost his BBY shares before he dumped them, but as CEO, he's a clown. Unfortunately he will be rich enough to retire into obscurity after this. Best Buy would be right behind them to fail but they are the only big box electronics store left, so they'll survive as long as they want to survive. Or as long as Wall Street lets them.

The sad thing is it didn't have to be this bad. DKOldies shows that there is $$ in games still. That GS got beat to the punch by some internet companies that didn't have the network & DCs that GS had is embarrassing.

On a lighter note... anybody have a suggestion on how to remove the goo from the clear "new" circular stickers? I can use IPA to clean off any of the paper ones, but these are not coming off at all.

People sometimes say, "Why do you hate on Gamestop so much?  What do you mean "you'd rather they didn't exist" ? you shop there don't you?."

Yeah, I would like that.  Cuz it was so much worse when we had a couple dozen different retro and mom & pop used video game stores in our metro right? Until Gamestop rolled into town, bought up locations in every single suburb's strip mall area, including FOUR at the Mall of America alone, overextended themselves, and pushed everyone else out of business.  Yeah, it would be so much worse if we had dozens of unique, interesting places to go visit instead of this soulless corporate shithole.

Gosh what would I do without them?  Buy games ANYWHERE else I guess.

Everyone always hating on ganestop. Sure, they have shit policies and don’t know what “new” game means….But in the last 4years, I’ve without question made more money off of them then they made off of me. Don’t think that would be possible anywhere else. So despite their issues, I hope they stick around!

You don't like Funko Pops? Are you ok?

Exactly this. I will renew my membership. Y'all are upset over non-issues. Who buys GPGs? Who cares about the new policies unless you work for them.

only place I can slowly pay off a game without using cash.

I'll be the old guy in the room for a moment.  As someone who bought probably $10,000 worth of DVDs in the early 2000's, be careful what you're putting your money into.  Whether it be Funko's or anything else.  Ultimately, this stuff is all junk and only serves as something fun to look at for a few minutes.  I too fancied myself a "collector" but that is just a way of justifying foolish spending.  Invest your money in stocks/bonds/CD's/Gold/T-Bills/Bitcoin or anything else that'll actually make you real dollars.  You'll be a lot more satisfied seeing interest payments and dividends rolling into your bank account than seeing some toy you bought 20 years ago collecting dust on a shelf

Instructions unclear, now I'm sitting on $10,000 worth of Gamestop stock...

I was with you until gold and bitcoin. Save automatically and spend the rest on whatever you want.

Yeah. If you are buying Funkos or whatnot to decorate then you do you. Don’t go overboard and think you’ll be getting your money back though. I buy Amiibo of characters my kids like for them to display in their rooms, I don’t see those as investments. They are decorations.

My mom spent a lot on bone China sets and lead crystal vases, stemware and other decorative items. She thought she’d be passing that on to me and my sister. Neither of us wants that stuff cluttering up our houses,

It is best to take advantage of GameStop while you can. Need more price mistakes like the $120 49" Samsung ultra wide monitor and various penny items. Also, need more trade value typos like dark souls remastered xb1 at $65 base. Those don't happen too often. I'm hoping more mistakes coming with them being "frugal".

After you peel off the circular sticker, take it and use it to press down on the goo residue and then pull off the circular sticker again.
Yeah, forget financials or Funko retirement strategies, this is the best piece of wisdom you’ll ever find on GameStop CAG. So elegant in its simplicity, it’s like using GameStop’s own weapons against them.

Gold I could get. but only someone who doesn't know what they are talking about would ever mention bitcoin. Stocks are a gamble not an investment. And do remember that thry can illegally prevent you from doing anything with your stock as shown by the incident years ago.

One of our regulars did manage to make it on the gamestop stock. But buying stock at its lowest prices and then it happens to skyrocket is obviously not a predictable event.

Silver is generally considered a good investment but as always the prices of anything/ value is volatile and you may not live long enough to make good on it though your relatives/decendants could.

Games are the worst investment given that they're from my understanding on a bubble currently after hitting peak during the pandemic. Anyone who was holding high value stuff should have dumped it then.

The one positive once the bubble breaks a number of things should go down in price. Then it might hit 2000s eBay prices again.

Sure stocks are a slight gamble. But they’re one of the most investment things possible. Look at the SP500 over any 10 year period in history.

Nah, bring on the BDs and UHDs. Some people lose that much in two trips to the Casino. I love collecting the best home media. Sounds like you were buying the wrong stuff. That you weren't able to make any money off it either. DVDs just happen to get obsoleted by 2007.

I sold a BD set last week for $340.

Bitcoin was ok if you got in early on and kept it as a small part of your overall investments. We own 2 that we bought for 2k a piece so those are fine for now. But we don’t actively trade in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a money maker for sure. A bitcoin price in the US is the same as India, there are loop holes with taxes and it’s widely adopted. Anyone who got in last year when the price tanked easily made a solid chunk of cash.

When it comes to investments, ya’ll gotta think about getting paid. The gaming market is seeing people do some honestly nefarious shit but they get insane amounts for common titles like Spiderman Atari 2600 and Mario64.

I got some bitcoin. It’s not widely adopted at all. People just speculate on it. I don’t know a single person that uses it as an actual currency.

I’ve bought stuff with Litecoin so I’m not opposed to using it as currency.

I forgot to use my $5 coupon last month. I haven't gotten an email about this months coupon. I think I read pages back they got rid of it? I will have to research that.

Saw this on the employee subreddit. Looks like gift cards can no longer be used for PSN/eShop/Xbox credit:

My pro is up in April. Every year it gets a little harder to justify the buy in. $25, no points for trade ins, limited 50% bumps, tanking values as Wii drops further into obscurity (most of my trades are first party Wii games from yardsaling). Monthly $5 is fine, but I’d rather have 10% off PO.

Cash same as credit was great this week. I cleared about $100 on random Wii accessories taking up space. Jeez, if I’d known GS was going to start offering $5 for flippin’ nunchuks I could’ve easily made another $100 from all the ones I passed on.

As always, I’d like to see GameStop stick around, but knowing Cohen’s typical pump and dump strategy, I don’t expect GS to survive a 5-year outlook.

It looks like you can still buy POSA cards with gift cards/trade credit on the website. I just bought some PSN/eShop credit and it went through immediately:

I've heard the website can have issues with digital codes, though, so YMMV. I'm probably just going to liquidate some of my trade credit while it's still possible.

Well according to Gamestop.com when attempting to Checkout with a Steam Card. It clearly states Gift Cards and Trade In Credit cannot be used to purchase: Valve Steam Wallet Card $50[attachment=38300:Gamestop No TC or GC on POSA.jpg]

for Steam that has been the case for awhile online(like years)

it's a Steam policy themselves.  Occasionally GS crappy online system lets an order slip through but it's always been policy blocked online.
