Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

With how cheap you could get series x, pretty sure the majority of people came out ahead.
I think I paid like $350 locally with extra controller and games, sold the games so it was more or less $300.
Console was 2 months old(at the time) and still had warranty.

I am so happy I pulled the trigger on a new one this week. I got~ $450 from GS and then paid roughly the same for a new one (employee discount) so I could get a new warranty. I was considering waiting for a sale but now I’m just glad prices didn’t go up.

And now we see why Microsoft pushed the "everything is an Xbox campaign."

They're absolutely giving zero cares about their hardware and pushing that Game Pass, brother.
It makes sense. Let other people deal with hardware, inventory, tariffs, and just focus on subscriptions and sweet sweet licensing fees.

We've entered the phase of price gouging the inelastic demand customers. means you truly don't care about growth on your consoles anymore.

We're not likely to see a new Xbox next generation. Microsoft will push GamePass on PC as being their main front, with releasing ways to play GamePass on more devices. But in that time, we'll likely see Steam and Epic come up with a similar method and slowly push Microsoft into a corner. Sony will go even harder for PS+ streaming too making it even harder for Microsoft who has the less amount of exclusives (currently) to even support people staying on that platform.

the 1.2 is definitely over, that was the double pro bonus. the 1.3 might? still be working, it was reporting working last sunday, but nobody really knows why it starting working on consoles so who knows when it will end.

Anyone go for the free DC comic and toy?
*Get A FREE DC Comic & Action Figure when you visit GameStop during McFarlane Toys Week 2025: While supplies last. See an associate for more details. No purchase necessary.
Went to my local store today and shockingly they still had stock left. It's the McFarlane Page Pushers. There are only 2 options available- Forever Evil #1 with Lex Luthor in his power suit or a Batman comic/figure. Not sure which Batman it is since my store only had Lex left. I ended up passing as I already have the Lex figure. If I had to guess, this is GS just getting rid of old stock that didn't sell as a tax write-off.

It would be nonsensical for anyone to buy a Series S over a PS5 Slim or Series X over a PS5 Pro when they are roughly the same price now. Gamestop is going to get burned by all these Xbox trade ins. The demand isn't there for Xbox.

I don't think people will buy an xbox for updated retail prices. But I am missing xbox and gamepass right now; especially with how well Expedition 33 is being received.
So yesterday, I brought a series S for $200 from a pawn shop and will give it a try. I'm sure I have an extra 3 month gamepass code around somewhere at home. After work, I'm going to try it out and see what all the hype is about. I'm skeptical about turn-based games. I sort of enjoyed bravely default II, but quit rather early. The last game I really enjoyed in that genre was legend of dragoon. To be fair, I have not played FFVII:R.
But to your point, if you're on the fence about xbox, I would scoop one up from marketplace or pawn shops before the used market catches up to updated retail prices. If you don't like the xbox, you should be able to at least break even by selling it or trading it to gamestop.

ps5 pro is still $180 more than a series X if you want a disc drive tho. That’s not negligible

Why are you saying this like they’re interchangeable? It’s not like it’s the difference between an LG and a Samsung tv.

2TB Series X is more than a Pro.

For some people they are. They have very similar libraries. The only real differences in them is Xbox has gamepass and PS5 has Sony exclusives.
