Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Went through my shelves and found I had some surprise high values. Ape Escape 3 base $15, Godzilla STE $22, God Hand bringing $41 made me go look at eBay and see it's listing for ~$115. My total list minus GH is 35 games for $192(Rock Band 2 for a quarter out of spite). I can just put down for a switch 2 game and get the bump on everything, right? I want City of the Wolves but can wait for the inevitable drop. I would throw the whole ~$250 towards a Switch 2 but I don't expect to get one for a while. I'll let them give me 60 for God Hand for a console.

I'm glad I didn't do the 420 deal with my Series X, that price hike made me exhale.
Correct, you can just put $5 down and that will trigger the promo.

GS raised the price of one of the plushies I've been waiting for my monthly $5 coupon to use on...from $31.99 to $39.99...PLUS, found out GS no longer price match due to insider abuse, not by customers...but by EMPLOYEES...WTAF is a "Pro" membership even good for anymore...? 2025 is the last £UCKING straw!

The trick is to get someone to enter their credit card number on your account. Free Pro membership!

(To whoever in the universe who did this for me, thanks, but I can't tell you the last time I actually bought something at GS.)

I asked an associate for a printed out list of $19.99 PS4 games (for 4/$40) and they said the system doesn't allow them to sort by price anymore. They could only do a printout with every PS4 game available with the SKU, but no pricing info. Is this true?

A lot of these locations scored bad on Google Reviews so it's no surprise for the closures

2212 stores remaining after this weekend in US. I'm guessing it will continue to be 20-30 stores closing each month for the rest of the year as leases expire. Unless they have another large wave like January at some point.

How did you guys get the trade boost for consoles when pre-ordering? I was trying to get the 40% boost towards DK bananaza with a xbox series x trade in but it doesnt look like it took.
Oh well, I got the $25 boost this week so it isn't that baf

Seeing a 2TB Series X with $522 trade value is just mind boggling. I get that it retails for more than a PS5 now, but Gamestop knows they also have to be able to find buyers if someone trades it in, right?

Sheesh that's enough to get the switch 2 mk world bundle. Early buyers must be happy now to trade theirs in

‘my local GameStop just went through yet another mutiny. Manager fired, whole staff walked out. DM had to find someone to quick cover. I visited last week and saw what I believe was a day one employee with no training, struggling to work solo and ring out customers. Funny enough one of the customers in the store was a former employee that just happened to be there and was coaching them how to ring out their transaction. The poor new guy didn’t even know the difference in stock between preowned and new. The former employee and I chatted outside afterward and they said to me there’s no way the new person should ever be alone at this point.

Realistically, do some, none, or most physical GameStop stores make money nowadays? I would love to see a regular GameStop stores P&L and margins for a set month. What they make money on, what doesn’t sell, etc.

this is an all-too-common situation that i’ve encountered multiple times now

Just bought the plushie off of eBay for ~$27 with tax, shipping, and 3+1% cashback which evened things out. Also expecting to earn a $20 bonus from Rakuten after making at least a $25 purchase thru them as a first-time user. £UCK GameStop for spiking the price, and £UCK HotTopic for misleading customers with false inventory stock...

and then those cases gets stolen and you have a game selling as new with generic gamestop artwork...

Funny you mention this because one time I went to GS to buy a preowned copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that showed stock. It wasn't on the shelf and I asked if they had it. The guy said they had the cart but only a generic case. I said no thanks then. He then got a gutted Mario Kart case that said new on it and said he'd sell it to me as preowned with that case.

Saw this on the Reddit, anyone try it?

"Though this may only apply to a few other people, it is currently possible to get a 100% bonus to your trade in credit. I discovered when attempting to get the current 50% bonus for Switch 2 games/accessories preorders that I had another 50% bonus for starting a new Pro membership. The manager tried both and they stacked.

I went home and grabbed every game I could part with. Got the Switch 2 and 2 games for free! All my trade values were above market value. For example, I got $110 for Mario 3D All Stars. It was a great day!"

>Got the Switch 2

Unless that user had a preorder already for the switch 2, the only game you can readily pre-order is Donkey kong Bananza. As for accessories, i'm assuming only the joycon set as well. How odd that they were able to get stuff pre-ordered this late in the game. Even starting a new pro account at that. Hmmm.

his numbers are off too, mario all stars is base $50, "50% off for new pro membership" would make it $75 $50% bonus for preordering would make it $100. there is a missing 20% bonus in this bullshit story. probably didn't even realize the website shows the pro amount in his fictional writing.

This is why I miss the cag lounge gs thread. I can confirm that the promos were broken in a stacking way when I traded last week. I figured I would try since promos accidentally stacked on consoles a couple weeks ago. With a switch 2 game preorder and scanning the targeted 50% offer, the system gave me 120% total boost on every game in the transaction.
