The American Gladiators S2 Thread

I want Gina out of American Gladiators. Its affecting her MMA game and she keeps coming in overweight and blaming it on AG. I'm sure AG is a cash cow for her, but if she wants to represent properly as the unofficial face of women's MMA, she needs to show the sport some respect and learn to make weight.

I really do like her a lot though. Boner alert.
Also 1/2 second per point lead in the Eliminator is really next to nothing. You only have to watch the show once to realize that somebody who is excellent in the Eliminator can be pretty crappy in other events and they'll probably only be looking at a 5 second handicap at worst which they should overcome.

I would say they need to make it 1 second per point lead off or rework the show somehow so the points from the events matter more but I guess you want the final event to be for all the marbles and you'd want either contestant to have a chance to pull it out.
It's true, you do want it to look like anyone's game, but you're right...if you've kicked ass the entire time, unless you're awesome at the Eliminator, you still have a shot at losing. I guess it makes the ending more "epic," but it sucks for the people who busted their ass the whole time to get beaten by some dancer who happens to be quick on his feet.

Oh, I understand where he's coming from if he's a big MMA fan. But, that said, she's awesome on Gladiators and it'd be awful to lose her there.

Agreed, and boner alert indeed. :^o

The thing is, while I do enjoy me some AG, is that MMA is an actual sport. She should put that first. It just makes sense to want to be more famous as Gina than as Crush. She kicks some ass but when you don't weigh in at the contracted weight and fight your opponent with that advantage, her victories become debatable.

She really is the face of women's MMA, thats something much more respectable than knocking around no name contestants with foam. Its also a lot more hotter to see her knocking around some bitches!!! Bitches!!!
New Gladiator looks like the biggest douchenozzle ever. Ugh.
Gawd, yeah. First look at that hair and eyeliner and I was like "ZOMG emo!" As far as I'm concerned, they should just keep the winners from last season, Zen, maybe Phoenix and be done with new Gladiators.

The new events have been really meh for me. The preview for the new event next week looks great tho, so I'm optimistic. Plus we've still got Atlasphere coming up.

Well, this season was a bit disappointing, although still fun at parts.

I did not like how the show had events cut from the airing each time. Also, the new gladiators were hit and miss; same goes for the events. Speaking of the events I got really tired of some, like Rocketball (which is pretty lame to begin with), and hardly saw any Assault for example. They need to vary the structure more.

Any word on if this is coming back for Season 3? Given that they cut it from 90 to 60 mins and then sandwiched the finale with the last of the semi-final match-ups I'm leaning towards no. Or they'll be really mixing things up. Frankly I wouldn't really miss it. I was loving this in season 1, but season 2 sucked by comparison.

Way too many new gladiators and doling them out a few per episode over the entire season was just a really dumb idea. Keep the ones that are entertaining (Wolf, Titan, Toa, Crush, Hellga), cut the ones that are boring (Militia, Hurricane, Steel...)

The thing that really killed it for me was showing recaps of events. After they started doing that I pretty much lost most of interest in watching the show. By the last few I was just skipping past everything but the events and a few of my fave gladiator shticks.

And I gotta agree that Rocketball is pretty dumb and there definitely needed to be more Assault. They improved it over last season and then stopped using it. I'd also cut that one where they are upside down on an elevated track. Also the one where they run across a bridge with balls swung at them is inferior to the one where the gladiators themselves swing at them so they should drop it for the better version. It seems like they did in fact do that towards the end.

Probably too much interviewing of the competitors before and after every event. "How did it feel to be up there on [event name] when [gladiator name] came at you, brother!?" Riveting stuff.
They really need to feature Phoenix more.
that chick is blazing hot... jesus.

they need to make her the prize for the winner and let's see what guys will really do to win the tournament.

I also think that this season was a bit of a letdown, I lost interest a couple of weeks ago so I haven't watched the last few, plus Top Gear came back on and thats about the only TV Show I'll watch every week.

The skipping events thing was bad and I think they should have just introduced all the new Gladiators at the begining instead of wasting time with trying to build up to the reveal every week, that was a bit crap.

Much like Heroes, after watching season 2 I'll not miss it if there's no season 3.

Heroes will rebound...

I have some hope for there to be a season 3. I think the show is cheap enough to make, so even if the ratings are not the best they just may move it to another time.

Very true. The big prize is already pretty weak for a network primetime show - cut some gladiators and they could even go to cheaper hosts maybe. Laila doesn't add much IMO but Hulk's cheesiness is fun.
