The bastardization of Jet Li..

anyone else find Rise to honor's battle system to be horrific? Man if they made that into a movie it would be somewhat worth watching I guess.

Yeah, I was hoping this would be a good game too but the hand to hand combat was just painful, the shooting wasn't too bad though.

Combat system was terrible....using the right analog stick was a major pain. If they improved the combat I would've loved it I'm sure.

I didn't think it was too bad, I found it a decent rental.

Of course a 2 player co-op mode would have went a long way.

I think the recent American movies Jet Li has made are much more lame.

I didn't find it too bad in the beginning, but about mid-ways through it gets to where you just enter a room & fight wave after wave after wave after wave of enemies. I think I killed every gang member there is - anywhere.

Using the stick is ok in moderation, but with that much fighting it seriously cramps your hand. I couldn't stand it & traded it back in.

Oh lord yes...his American movies have been quite awful. Kiss of the Dragon wasn't that bad, but now they are trying to constantly put rappers in these movies and the end result is just horrible. Cradle 2 the Grave was a huge waste of my $8 imo.

I do the same thing with video games that I do with movies, the more it seems like they're playing commercials to force it down your throat (rise to honor) rather than a commercial to remind you it's finally here (Wind Waker and Pandora Tomorrow) I try to avoid it.

Have you seen the trailer for Hero?
It was running with Kill Bill.

It came out in China already (I think last year, but I'm not sure).

It looks awesome.

Yeah...I have to admit Hero is the only bootleg dvd I ever watched (I didn't buy it though I swear it was a kid on my floor last year. It's actually been out for some time, but of course we get it way behind in the states. I'll have to see it again though, cuz it (the ripped movie) was all in Chinese with no subtitles so I was totally lost, but the action was pretty damn boss.

Hero is basically the story of a man who visits the Emperor of China, who tries to prove his trustworthiness by retelling tales of his battles with the Emperor's enemies. The Emperor is quite cynical and offers up his own version of events. I think the movie is a metaphor for nationalistic pride and unity.

Uh yeah... If you're expecting a pure action experience you'll be surprised how deep it is. It's really emotional and artistic.

Hmm, sounds like The Hulk. I was expecting a pure action flick, but they tried to make it deep and artistic, which failed.

I actually really liked the fighting system. It was a lot deeper than I had initially thought.

Plus, I think it helped that a buddy and I were trading off at each stage. Kept the hands from cramping up.

The movie Hero is actually pretty damn good, at least imho. Jet Li and Donnie Yen are two martial artists who many American fans might recognize. The story is pretty much about Jet Li going to see the first emperor of China, Shi Huangdi of the Qin dynasty, and telling him about his exploits in killing assassins. Basically, like magilacudy wrote, the emperor tells him what he thinks happens. There are some pretty cool fight scenes in it, especially with Jet Li and Donnie Yen, and the artistic aspect of this movie is actually there, unlike something like the Hulk. The cinematography of this movie is frickin' amazing and they have some pretty sweet monochrome scenes. Hero was even up for an academy award for best foreign film I believe one or two years ago.

You can find a copy of it either in DVD or VCD format in a Chinatown store near you. I actually liked the story of this movie more than I did with Hidden Dragon/Crouching Tiger.

I was kinda disappointed in Hero. I loved Jet Li's older movies like Swordsman 2 and Fist of Fury. Hero just didnt deliver the hype it promised. The story was somewhat confusing at first, but is cleared up at the end...but by that time you just kinda like ok that was dumb.

Hero is a great film from a great film maker, Yimou Zhang < http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0955443/ >.

It is not cheap or shallow. There is enough action for action fans. Criticism of the CGI work is absurd, driven by Wuxia fans who prefer low budget B-grade films to anything they may perceive as "hi-brow."

Hero reaches high, very high, and hits its mark. It may not "suit" everyone's taste, but then Urban Cowboy, Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars (the original), and Taxi Driver are not to everyone's tastes either.

When you compare it to Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon" -- with which it shares many characteristics -- you cannot deny that it is art.

Some people don't appreciate art, and opinions are like noses...

I actually really liked the Hulk. Building up the personality of Banner gave the Hulking Out a stronger impact and made it much more tragic, IMHO. Plus, the visual style was amazing.
yea, it is supposed to be released in theaters in may, looks awesome.
I think its actually August, but I'm not sure.

I seen HERO a year ago already it has awsome fight scenes and its the only 2nd time where Jet faces Donny Yen, also a great martial artists. Other than that his old school movies are really good, for example the Once Upon A Time in China series in part 2 is the only other time where he first fought Donny Yen. By old school you know what I mean not lots of CG just plain old school kung fu action with no wire work. His 2 part series The Legend 1 and 2 also had awsome fight scenes.

Yea Jet Li in the early 90s made some of the best action movies.

His new upcoming movie is gonna looking like pure crap. Danny the Dog? He plays a martial arts expert with the mentality of an 8 year old.
What the hell is that? Why would he even say consider a script like that?

Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung didn't seem to have a huge problem with it (i.e. Heart of Dragon).
