Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

anybody else having trouble getting the search results for "eye of judgement" in the store locator (and yes i am using show backordered items) used? mine only gives me the new one
lol. who said the PS3 coupon is coming out tomorrow?

The first person to mention a PS3 coupon is a newbie with one post...
I just asked one of the workers at a GS what coupon was coming and he looked in some book and said that it was a PS3 25% limit 2. I only have one (now two) post since I can read and don't have to ask questions that have been answered 10 times:lol: I want to thank everyone for the advice and TIV list I have netted a PS3 MGS bundle, used PSP, 4 Wii Fits and about 20 games for the kids and still have about $500 in credit.
How much did you pay for that MVC2?
If you look at the picture, it says $14.99, so it was either that or less...
if I find a BBV with marvel vs capcom 2 for rent, and said i "lost" it would i get charged the used price?
First thing to do is to ask if they can convert the game to used. If not, put some credit from your value card onto your account and rent the game and just keep it. 7 days after the due date, the rental is converted to a sale and will charge using the credit on your account. If you don't have any credit on your account, it does directly to the credit card on file.

If they wont let you move credit from your value card to your account, get a prepaid debit card with not enough $ on it and have them store that card on your account. When it tries to charge, it'll just send the balance onto your account for when you come in next.
:ps3:SST - $11.69->$25
how did it get to $11.69? its $29.99 used, $19.99 new on their website...
Potential Flips(If coupon is indeed 25% off. Has been confirmed by some GS employees so I expect it to be true. )

(All prices after EDGE+Coupon)
:ps3:Harry Potter: OotP - $9.99(NEW)->$16
:ps3:Def Jam: Icon - $8.99(NEW)->$13
:ps3:History Channel: BftP $16.24->$30
:ps3:SST - $11.69->$25
:ps3:Rock Band - $19.50-> $36
:ps3:Eye of Judgement - $17.55->$36

Btw, jp0213 in the GS thread(for the 25% xbox 360 coupon) has said he got a hold of the 25% off used PS3 games coupon. That's who my source his. Hope he's not lying. PS3 titles look like a gold mine right now.
I'll be on the hunt for rock band and EOJ if the coupon comes. what is SST? super something tricky, the snowboard game, I have no idea.

what would be teh "used" price? is it like retail price or what it would have been if it was sold used?
I think its only $26.99 at GS to buy used, so I'm guessing if you traded it in with another game worth at least $5 and used the $15 bonus coupon, you could get about $16-19 for EoJ game only. At BB/GR its very YMMV to get them to take it in trade in. It will probably get you about $30 if they do take it, I think something comes up saying they aren't supposed to accept it or something...not sure.
I just tried to trade the game in at Blockbuster...no dice...it beeps (not in system) and then the employee notices it says "includes Eye camera" on the game case. I guess you could try trading it in disc-only so they have to type it in, assuming it's actually in the system when you type it in and doesn't have a note about the camera being required.

I mean, there really should be one price for the game and one for the camera if Gamerush knew what they were doing. You can buy the camera alone at Wal-Mart for $40 or the camera+game for $70 ($30 now on clearance). The guy at Gamerush tried to tell me the game was worthless unless they had the camera to sell, but that's not true. I'm sure there will be people with those $40 cameras looking for games to play.

Also, picked up:

Harvest Moon Boy & Girl (PSP) $14.99
Contra 4 (DS) - $14.99
Mario Baseball - $14.99
Mario Tennis - $14.99

Read up a bit. Someone said that the stores still had it for $17.99 and it still scans like that. I'll put a little warning next to it to clear any confusion.

yeah, but I'm sure BB/GR's incompetent employees have gotten a lot of people flips...

The used price is the used price, $14.99...

Kunai, I know what you mean...
It's "Eye of Judgment"

Judgment is spelled differently than you'd normally expect it to be.
I can't believe A) how dumb that is and B) that I never noticed before.

Nice Haul!

The only games I got to keep were William's Pinball Hall of Fame, RE4, and Sly Cooper 3 PS3, and Dungeon Siege for PSP.
I did see a Pikmin 2 for rental may ask if I can buy it for $15 however the games are in very bad condition at this location.
They dont even keep the discs in the sleeves but all stuff unprotectred in some hanging folders.
Based on Slim Gatsby's post, is Virtua Fighter 5 for PS3 a part of the b1g1? I thought all PS3 games were bumped up.
yeah, I didn't see any ps3 games. except one nba homecourt they forgot to put at 16.99 and was at 14.99, there were 5+ others marked at 16.99

I scored Beautiful Katamari for $5 after the B1G1 promo. Also the Blockbuster I was in didn't have a sign for $14.99 or less and higher priced games were mixed in. I saw GT5 Prologue for $29.99, but didn't buy because I'm on a budget.:)

Purchased (all $9.99 or $6.99 on credit)
Bullet Witch
Virtua Tennis 3 (x2)
Spiderman 3
Meet The Robinsons (x2)
Beautiful Katamari (x2)
Shrek The 3rd
The Golden Compass

Total ($53.80)

Traded at Gamestop, totals after Edge & $5
BioShock ($10 base) - $16
Shrek, Spiderman ($5 base) - $10.50 each
Golden Compass, Meet The Robinsons, Bullet Witch ($4 base) - $9.40 each
Arcade Unplugged ($2 base) - $7.20
LOTR BFME ($7 base) - $12.70
Beautiful Katamari, Virtua Tennis 3 ($6 base) - $11.60 each
---
Total ($108.30)

Bought at Gamestop
Edge Membership - $14.99
Fatal Inertia - $16.24 (after Edge & 25% coupon)
History Channel BOTP - $16.24 (ditto)
---
Total ($51.15)
Remaining $57.15

Traded at BB
Fatai Inertia - $32
History Channel $25

Bought at BB
LOTR BFME - $14.99
:gc: Ikuraga - free (marked $34.99 from October of 2004)

I've still got another Meet The Robinsons, Virtua Tennis, and Katamari (plus LOTR) to get rid of. So long as the values hold another day, that'll be another $45.30 at GS.

$100 or so in free credit at Gamestop, and almost my original investment at BB back. I'm not nearly as good as some of you, but I'll increase the totals this weekend and Ikuraga was a nice surprise. :)

Even better...no refurbishing fees (even though all but two of those games were in BB cases and half had no manual).

I also saw History Channel BotP and World Series Poker All In at a Gamestop, but they wouldn't let me use two coupons and it was the end of the day today...

Wish I had gotten into flipping sooner.

From that list that Darkrider is compiling.... its pretty much what I thought. The PS3 coupon is going to be MUCH better for flipping back to BBV then the 360 one. The TIV at BBV are just a lot better for PS3 games.

very true. Since some of the same games that were 14.99 I saw many ps3 ones that were still priced 19.99 or 24.99. I am hoping this ps3 coupon comes by tomorrow or ever. Then It'll be a big flipping day, i hope. But I gotta find a new GS to go to if I'm going to unload a bunch of BB b1g1's again.
Even better...no refurbishing fees (even though all but two of those games were in BB cases and half had no manual).
I checked my receipts and 2 games i got charged 2 bucks refurb fees and one for 1 buck. I didn't notice those since I had them in cases and complete w/ manual. But when I just traded in 4 360 discs the guy didn't charge me any, although he did say they usually charge refurb fees if its not complete.

edit: sry for double post. I thought they'd automatically combine, but thats another forum.

Just want to thank everyone who provided information on this thread.

Had $29.XX credit at BB.

Bought
Golden Compass, The $9.99
PSU $9.99
Spiderman 3 $9.99
WWE SvR '07 $9.99
Armored Core 4 $14.99
Enchanted Arms $14.99

Total $34.97 ( Plus Tax, 37.42)
had to pay $7.60 out of pocket.

Went to GS and got $64.10 credit , then bought Edge,GH3, and Gears of War(bought because my copy don't have cover and I need to try to return the one w/o cover to Gs and trade the one I bought to BB. I used the Edge and 25%.

I will have GHIII and GoW to trade in to BB, and GoW to return to GS.
Should end up with about $50 BB and $23 at GS. I might do a little more tomorrow to keep if PS3 coupon is true.

EDIT- I got charged 1 $2 refurb fee, the guy didn't even say anything to be.
Then I look at the games they gave me and both had fingerprints and a few scratches(more than any of the games I gave them)

whats sst, i have no idea.

Wow. I hate to say it but if that coupon is true I may have no choice but to get back to flipping. There isn't much B1G1 fodder left from where I ransacked but with enough I could afford a 360 + games without touching much of the credit I have now. Then again it might be best to keep a low profile and wait for the next $5 > $30/flipping fest since a price drop is supposed to be on the horizon anyway.

I'm not sure if I really want to go through a repeat of this week, but for $500 extra credit and a 360 to tide me over until my PS3... eh. Might be worth it. Is there any chance of the e-mail being posted with the coupon? The reason I ask is because the GS I had trouble with will only accept coupons if the entire e-mail is included. =\

BTW V4oLDbOY I think you got the point now but it is best to trade 1 game to each store (EVER, unless you can get on good terms with a manager, or workers) There is always a another flip around the corner( I offically flipped for the first time today but have been following this thread since April-ish) You might get away with 2 at a store(like the Trade agreement says) but some manager think you are A) Stealing from somewhere B) ripping off the comapany, and they will ban you, no matter what the Trade Agreement says.

Sorry for the bold your name made everything else BOLD.

EDIT- Also I saw Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for Xbox360 at BB in the stack of B1G1s. I believe it was $14.99.

Great contribution. Ill help Darkrider out. Im only going to add the really good ones. Frankly I think we can all agree doing the work for a measely 2-5 dollar increase isnt worth it. Im also going to put the profit for each game at the end(rounded considering taxes et all will be different for everyone).

if the coupon comes I'm going for Rock band, RSV2, pro evo...well the $10 plus ones of course. I just want that coupon, to flip and to get some ps3 games for myself.
Great contribution. Ill help Darkrider out. Im only going to add the really good ones. Frankly I think we can all agree doing the work for a measely 2-5 dollar increase isnt worth it. Im also going to put the profit for each game at the end(rounded considering taxes et all will be different for everyone).

(All prices after EDGE+Coupon)

Some definite winners there.
your right, trading for a few dollars aint worth it but i still put them in there because most people can find them e.g; F1. Rock band gets 33 at BB not 36
EDIT- I got charged 1 $2 refurb fee, the guy didn't even say anything to be.
Then I look at the games they gave me and both had fingerprints and a few scratches(more than any of the games I gave them)
They did the same to me, they dont tell you anything, until after you signed away your games. Most of the games I've gotten have minor scratches, but enough for me to suspect sometimes if they actually referbed these games. What incentive do GS employees have when they charge a referb fee?

Fixed the RB TIV.

You know Ill bet theres at least 2 or 3 GEMS for PS3 games that are a little older. Just have to find the right one...ala' Stanglehold ;)

Still anything $10+ is good in my book. And the Rockbands and RSV2's are plentiful around me so thats good. A lot of the other things look to be scarce around me. And Im with whoever said you cant get "game only" EOJ on the gamestop site. If anyone is able to figure it out please post up how.

their refurb fees aren't actually checked by the eye. when they flip it over they usually are checking to see if there is the 360 logo (or whatever system it is for) and they put it in a machine that actually checks it. if it passes then there is no fee, if it fails, then you get hit up with the refurb fee. at least that's how they are suppose to do it

and can anyone confirm that the b1g1 ends the 21st?
i believe that viking and condemned 2 for the ps3 might still be potential flips...
they are. I think they are the same as 360 on TIV

sounds good to me...they should be added to the list of potential ps3 flips...

Good and bad today in the OKC. Had not planned on not flipping anymore unless found a bunch of conan, katamari or juiced 2. Went to 3 REGULAR BB today and found no less than 6 copies of juiced 2, 4 copies of conan and 2 katamari !! (juiced, conan and katamari are higher TIV in OKC, many many more are less)

went to two different GS and traded those in using the $15 bonus coupon for

juiced 2 - 16.30 x 6 = 97.80
conan - 15.20 x 4 = 60.80
katamari - 16.02 x 2 = 32.04

today alone transfered $92.05 BB credit into $190.64 GS credit.

Overall since Tuesday have turned $466 BB credit into $731 GS credit...a little over 1.5 ratio overall.

Got hit for the first time ever with refurb fees today. I don't have a problem with them charging refurb fee, if they fucking tell you !!! To quote you a price and not say anything about the refurb fee and you see it there on the reciept is downright deceiptful. I don't care that much, as I have made out fine, but I wonder how many times a day this corporation does this to moms and kids that come in to trade games. To quote vgtalk.com..."Gamestop is Vile and Disgusting"
