Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

I work at Blockbuster and I know they extended it until 7/28. We had about 15 price drops for Sunday and most of them were to $16.99. I know Sonic and The Secret Rings (I think that's the name) and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is $16.99.

Fatal Inertia - $32
Have you found Fatal Inertia cheap anywhere? No gamestops around me have it used and I've been looking at clearance sales, but can't find anything.

Another question for you DJ if you wouldn't mind me asking. How many Blockbusters do you trade at in total and how many copies per game do you trade in at each blockbuster?

I was at the local store where i traded in some of my B1G1 stuff, 1/2 mile from Blockbuster...some kid was buying some of the 360 games i got for 4.99 and traded..he paid $20 apiece!! I was laughing on the inside, that just shows how many people in town have no idea Blockbuster does trades.

I am starting to feel bad about trading so many games at BB. Today while my friend was making a trading account, I was digging thru their games, I found the 2 Beowulfs, 3 Elite Beat Agents, 2 SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters, 2 Folklores, & Happy Feet that I traded for $200+ still sitting there for less than what I traded them for.

To this day, I haven't seen one game of mine that I traded in on the shelves. It's really weird. The only game that I've seen that was definitely traded in by someone was Fatal Inertia. It even had the GS sticker's residue on it.

Well, for those who have games left at their BBV, the B1G1 has officially been extended TWO weeks. The sale ends August 4th, 08. I didn't see anything new drop to 14.99 or less this week, but there is still hope for next week.:)

Oo hope indeed then! Wouldn't mind picking up a Darksector and something else and it might get low enough by then
Does BBV take DS games?
Yes, although the hightest TIV I've seen is $10 (for SnK Card Fighters, which sold for $25)

Hmm.. maybe I'll sell professor layton on here then. I wouldn't think GS pays much for DS games either.

Too bad the B1G1 wouldn't extend to August 18th. That's when I'll be back at school right next to a BBV and GS. lol

Wishful thinking.

OK, I did a big update to the second post to remove the $10 deal and add in the 10%/20%/30% + Edge deal that GS is supposed to be running. Problem is, this isn't on their web site and I can't even find a thread about it. But I'll assume it is going on now and have changed all the prices in the second post to reflect the trade-in with 40% added to the base value. I crossed off all the ones that would lose money in the transfer except in the case where they would be eligible for the $15 bonus coupon. So, there are a lot of $14.99 (really $7.50 after B1G1) -> $7.00 ones in there because those could get you $13 ($5 base + $0.50 Edge + $7.50) if you are able to use the $15 bonus coupon (highly YMMV and don't ask me about it!).

I'm assuming the trade x get y% deal works on any platform, though, and not just next gen? If so, it makes some of those GC and possibly some PS2 games potentially decent from the Blockbuster B1G1 - so keep them in mind (IF the GS promo allows them that is).

So, anyway, this list is a little trickier to figure out now but hopefully those who know what's going on can use it. At the very least, it provides a base value that you should get at GS even if you can't use the $15 promo. Many games are still decent enough flips even without the $15 (or $10) promo (e.g., EDF will get you $3.50 -> $7.00). This is all assuming the 40% bonus deal at GS is good, which I have only heard about in other threads here on CAG. The GS web site still has the expired promos up there.. Correction: they actually removed the old promos and have nothing up in their place which means I'm not entirely sure there is any deal going on at GS at this time!

Octomania (Wii) gets $23 still and MLB 07 The Show (PS3) gets $13. I found a way to get both for less than $4 each, so I'll be doing pretty good for a while assuming the values dont drop.

Not trying to be an asshole or anything, but if you don't want to give up your info then don't post things like this>_

It's not that bad then, I guess. There are still quite a bit of titles that will get you good money.

If you want to move lots of credit at one time you could just get 4 14.99 and under titles and then a SSBB for $45+tax(I think this is the used price at BB) and trade it in for $42. You'll lose some money, but breaking even when transferring to GS is a good thing if you ask me.

I called a GS about the trade in 5 get extra 30%. The guy said he believed this is the current promotion but they haven't received the official promotion notice from the corporate so he couldn't give any details. still not sure which platforms are qualified.

hm it does say offer only good at stores listed on flyer. Chances of this working nationally? Thanks for the coups though, may try it anyways tomorrow!

*EDIT* Damn you
"offer valid only at stores listed on flyer"

Anybody know what stores?

io - you seen this flyer around?
This flyer has been around for a while and has been available for market testing in specific regions/areas. The coupon will NOT automatically ring up if you're not in a specific region. YMMV on getting a cashier to override it for you. Very doubtful.

In any case, the people who live in these marketing areas will benefit since they probably forgot about this offer alltogether. If I can help someone grab an extra $10 bucks on a console or an extra 20% on trade ins, then my job is done. If you've got a Gamestop rep that you're cool with, ask them to see if it'll work anyway. People were using and abusing the one-sided NCAA09 coupon and with decent success, so maybe this might help extend the shenanigans from the B1G1 for a little while longer.

Also, for the people that this deal does apply to automatically - here's to hoping you see this!

Hi, what is the return policy of used games at blockbuster? I ask because I tried to return two games (both did not work - scratched) and they did not want to give me my money back but only store credit even though I got the games a few days ago.

Did you pay with cash or credit?

No. I remember a thread on CAG about some 50% bonus coupon and I didn't even think it was worth trying when I saw that it was certain markets only.

you're lucky your BB letting you return the games. They won't freaking let me return the game at all all they would do is exchange it for me with same title -_-.

Same, did that today and got two lesbo managers that were being huge bitches about it. I just went to the store down the street, told them the 5 games didn't work on my system and got $24 cash back (I used a value card.) I hate lying but I'm not going to suffer the wrath of a stupid return policy for used games.

This thread is mostly about flipping but for people like me that missed out on a lot of Xbox 360 games (most of the time I was on Gears multiplayer), wow, you can stock up on some quality games for very cheap.

I can get Sega Rally Revo, Lost Planet, Stranglehold, Tomb Raider Legend, Virtua Tennis 3, Beautiful Katamari, King Kong, Lego Star Wars 2, and Earth Defense Force for $57 before tax. That's roughly $6.67 a game.
The GS% promo is valid starting today. I forgot to get details about last gen working.
yeah, if last gen works. Why not, a lot of BB ps2 games are 2.99, and get around 2-3 tiv. I saw a few xenosaga 2, I remember that getting like 2.50 or up at GS when I traded that in very recently.

Is the $20 value for :360: American Idol still valid? I picked up a sealed bundle at Target for $12.48 today (that I've had stashed since it was $34.98). :)

I'm gonna stop by GS tomorrow after work and check out the new trade in sale, hopefully it'll be for last gen games. I can use the last bit of my BB credit to get some 2.99 games at trade them in for minor profit.

I picked up Armored Core for 7.50 after discount, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage for 360 for 5.00 after discount, and Balder's Gate 2 Dark Alliance 2 for PS2 for 6.99. I also got an extra Sega Rally: Revo for 360. Hopefully, a friend wants it.

I just created a new thread for the new GS promo (going entirely by what CAGs have posted since I haven't seen the deal yet myself and it isn't on the web site - hope you guys are right ;)). So remember to post any trade-in values or deal info you discover there.
The GS% promo is valid starting today. I forgot to get details about last gen working.
So how does it work, trade 2 get 20% 3 30%?
Here's a good filler game: :ps2: The Incredibles gets $3 TIV at GS. BB price is $4.99.
nice find, all we need is 500 more... :)
Did you pay with cash or credit?
I payed with credit. Does it make a difference on their return policy?

Thanks.

If you payed with credit, why should they give you cash back?
