Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
gamestop.com says they have wii sports in stock at my local GS store...but when i called they told me it WASN'T in stock...confusion.....i might just go look for myself cuz my local GS's employees aren't that intelligent most of the time.
I agree and check to see if the 20% used + Edge and B2G1 work in tandum. Someone said it did an hour or 2 ago.

I plan on checking all of the above (Kotr 1+2 and Jade empire...hope it works) :) closest store to me 'has' a copy of wii sports, but it looks like the disk only copies of wiisports goes for alot less then complete ones (on ebay) still worth a shot.

Also gonna try to pick up donkey kong bb from toysrus to flip at bbv :) A bbv near me recently received a used copy of RE Umbrella Chronicles, but now im out of BBV store credit lol karma is a bitch
closest store to me 'has' a copy of wii sports, but it looks like the disk only copies of wiisports goes for alot less then complete ones (on ebay) still worth a shot.
Complete?..... it comes in a cardboard sleeve. Or, at least it did at launch. People really payin' extra b/c it comes in a sleeve?

I almost picked up some more FF and SMB:BB from ToysRUs last night, but both rang up $14.99 instead of $4 like I got before, somehow the prices went back up?
I still have no idea how the hell that happens. Why do so many people need it when it already comes with your Wii?

I'm thinking of just going around and buying all the Wii Sports I can just to sell on Ebay.
The reason they sell for so much on eBay is the only place most people can find Wii Sports is on Ebay.

Why would someone want the game when it comes with the Wii? Well, kids break stuff sometimes and you can't just buy a replacement disc at any retailer. Second, the reason that Gamestop has them used (sparingly) is that when people trade in their Wii, they sell the game and Wii separate. For people who only get a used Wii without Wii Sports included, they tend to go to extraodinary means to get it...

So after reading the newest Gamestop price drops, it looks like Blacksite is 29.99 new for both consoles. This should mean a drop on used prices, making for an even better flip if Blockbuster TIV's hold?
Thanks for the F4 heads-up... just traded in:

[Wii] F4:ROTSS - $30
[PS3] NCAA March Madness 08 - $26

They didn't know anything about upcoming sales, but how often do they? :)
This price was from 7/2.

Last night i looked up NCAA march madness 08 USED and it had a $20 price drop. From $44.99 to $24.99. I was thinking of keeping one but isn't the EDGE and 20% coupon calculated from the $44.99 price? I thought that was the deal with blacksite recently...

We were buying blacksite used at a $24.99 base price.

LOL, that was the same reaction I had.

Starting new round of trips to Blockbusters for the PSP stuff and whatever is left of 360 to get to 5 games for Gamestop.
Hit 3 and was able to get 2 Manhunt PSP($14.99), Dungeon Siege PSP, SPd FoF, THPG(2), Star Trek(maybe keep this one), and Pikmin 2 (Gamecube). Have 4 more to hit on my way to work tonight.
Just trying to get last of Blockbuster credit over to cover cost of Madden PSP.

You should keep Manhunt 2 to play, I did and it was great for the price. The executions were cool. Tell me if you find a good copy of Killzone Liberation.
You should keep Manhunt 2 to play, I did and it was great for the price. The executions were cool. Tell me if you find a good copy of Killzone Liberation.
I'll let you know. There was one more Manhunt, disc only that I passed on. Maybe i'll go back for that one to keep.

well as i thought...i found a copy of Wii Sports at my GS even tho employee told me they didn't have it! also picked up Mega Man: Anniversary Collection and XenoSaga I and II for CHEAP! thanks again IO for makin all those lists and making every gamers life oh so m uch sweeter :whistle2:D

Just confirming previous reports...

:wii: Octomania - $23 ($14.99 new at GS - Octomania sells for $39.99 at BB)
:wii: Dragonball Z Bukkake 3 - $30
:ps3: Rock Band (game only) - $33
:ps3: History Channel: BFTP - $30

Now, to find a BB with either a Wii or Mario Kart in stock.

Any idea what :360: Burnout Paradise gets? I bought an impulse used copy at GS for $24.xx, and I'll probably either return it or trade it to BB if it's more than $24.
Do I have to open my games before I can flip to BB?
YES..at least in all my experiences...first off cuz they start to think you may have stolen it...second off cuz they can usually only accept USED copies of it. So i would highly recommend taking the shrink wrap off
Do I have to open my games before I can flip to BB?
Yes you should or you will raise eyebrows because they think you might be stealing. Our information in this thread is very rock solid (don't trust the Wiki too much) and you shouldn't worry about opening the games and not being able to return them.
Do I have to open my games before I can flip to BB?
I believe if your trading to Gamestop, they will not accept the game if its still in plastic. Some BBV is YMMV with the same policy, but you might as well to avoid the "small talk" that comes in tradeing those games.

Damnit JJSP, you almost had be spitting out orange juice on my keyboard. What are you thinking about?:hot:

anyone know what happened to all of the

SMACKDOWN 2008 playstation 2 games at blockbuster

when this sale started they had like 15 of them for 19.99 then last week i saw one of the workers tossing the games into a cart and then they just all disappeard

they dont even have them for rent

but in all seriousness...DBZ BUDOKAI TENKAICHI 3 for the Wii has got to be in my top 2 fav wii games at the moment! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND playing it before you trade it in! It's got a big learning curve but fun as hell once you nail down the system!
does anyone know the trade-in-value of assassins creed and nba 08 for ps3?
He's right. Try it first. However, after finishing everything & with shitty online, I would trade it as soon as I'm done.

i would disagree...if you have friends willing to learn how to play it it's got a butt load of replay value..but read the bottom of my sig for my fullest opinion on the matter (and every other matter in existence) :whistle2:D

Whoot, went in to GS today and got EoJ and History Channel and walked up to the register. Manager said he took it back without the stuff (boo....) so he would sell it to me for half price. Handed him the coupon and got EoJ (game only) for 7 bucks and some change. Traded to BBV for 36 no questions asked.

Also if anyones wondering (prolly not) ResidentEvil Umbrella Chronicles is 34.99 at BBV, a full 10 less then gamestop. Its too bad more people don't trade in to BBV cuz their prices would really give GS a run for their moneyhats.

Xmen Legends 2 - 5.60 psp
ATV off road fury - 8.40 psp
Burnout legends - 8.40 psp

Also, iridium runner ps2 is $5 tiv at GS and 4.99 at BB

I had more but lost me receipt sorry. Stay away from daxter, its only $1.00 tiv at GS, or so the manager told me. I also paid of MLB power pros 08 for wii. And got 30+ credit back via return and rebuy on GC mem card, fable, jade empire, DS3, and wii nunchuck.

Also, since I preordered mlb power pros, he gave me an extra 10%, when he scanned it it didn't work (wouldn't stack), but he just manually put the extra 10% on the end, but the tivs I put are for only edge +30%.

Best flips so far, Manhunt 2, Dungeon Siege, Iridium runner, xenosaga 2, all near or over 2.00 ratio.

2 posts above...

4.99 at BB ---> $7 at GS with bonus +edge
Yep.
Hey, were those from a GR or a regular store? I just never see that kind of assortment of PSP games at any regular store but perhaps they converted some rentals recently and I need to check it out. I'd like that Renegade Squadron game for myself for one thing...

I haven't seen an assortment like that at any BB or GR, the max amount of games I've come across at BB was around 10-15 maybe, but most were unflippable, like daxter.

also, gi60 sorry, they are for psp.

BANNED!

LOL. I got banned from using coupons at Gamestop. Im in the Los Angeles area. I was using the 20% coupon and the attendant saw the note from the DM. He first said I couldn't use photocopies of the 20% coupon anymore. I told him it was an email coupon. But then he looked at his screen again and said I couldn't use any coupons at all. He's always been really cool with me and let me use the coupon this one last time :(

- I must have used the 20% on 4 separate occasions.
- The $15 bonus coupon must have been at least 12. Doh! :shame:

I got like 10 from a gamerush store that had never been touched, they still had more games but I ran out of credit. And the rest were from like 3 regular blockbusters.

at all GSs or just that one. If its all uggg, sucks for you. Not me...you

But that does really suck, no more coupons ever, wtf!

If anyone is looking for Octomania, Best Buy sells it for $9.99. I would have bought the 3 that they had today, but I didn't have the cash on me.

And that's what happens when you abuse the $15 coupon...

well, it was a DM ban so i think its in this whole area (however big that is). At least it wasn't a trade-in ban. I was able to trade-in two wireless controllers just fine during this last transaction.

Kinda strange but i do think its just from coupons....hopefully only the ones that they think are photocopies. Im going to push my luck and print out the whole email page the next time we get gamestop coupons.

Alright CAGs, get crackin'. As I suspected these PSP games are the best for GS transfers. What makes them even better is they are nearly always in tradeable condition due to the UMD format. I'm actually wondering what some of these get at Gamecrazy as I remember doing that a bit last time there was a B1G1.

I'm heading to GC in a bit to see if they will price match FF IV for $33 (from Fry's). That would save me a 20 mile trip to the GS I have it preordered at ;). Save time and gas AND get it cheaper - that's the CAG way! I'll try to remember to check on some of the dirt cheap stuff that is common like VT3, Star Trek, and Brunswick Bowling at least.
If anyone is looking for Octomania, Best Buy sells it for $9.99. I would have bought the 3 that they had today, but I didn't have the cash on me.
I might get one for myself, since i am done flipping since the BBs aroudn ema re cleaned out of psp games and at GS today the manager (the ok one, not the cool one) asked me where do you get all these games, since the store is tiny and I'm the only one doing any sort of trading/buying there usually, and everyday this past week pretty much. I just said "Oh, since I got the psp here preordered I bought a lot of psp games on ebay, I got like 40 for $80 +shipping." Then he goes, "Oh yeah... you did preorder the psp." They didn't suspect anything since I haven't traded in any mroe 360 games since I said I was out of them and always preorder/buy something with the credit i get, but most fo it goes to my edge card.

p.s. I hate it when they say your credit out loud, or even read it at all. Makes me look suspicious and they always look at me funny.
