Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

UPDATE

Remember when I told you guys about me trading in three games including Fantastic 4, and her taking away $100 off my account cause she lost my games and thought I took them back, even called other stores in the area not to let me trade....well I got a hold of the manager of the store

I called up to BBV right when they opened and I talked to the store manager (who is also really cool with me) I told him the situation, and he knew exactly what games I was talking about even before he pulled up my account, he told me an employee found them stash in the backroom under the table (WTF lol) so he gave me back $100 credit, gave me 5 Free game rentals for my troubles, took the block off my account that the Jr Detective put on who misplaced my games and accused me of taken the games. He told me I could trade all the Fantastic 4's I want, so I went up their after work and he already have left for the day....

The Jr Detective was their so Im like I like to trade this in (2 copies of Fantastic 4)

Her "well Their is a block on your account" (even before looking on the computer)

Me "Can you pleas check it again, its not blocked anymore"

Her "Who took the block off your account"

Me "Your manager"

Her "ohhh well I cant let you trade because I accidently gave you back fantastic 4 and Viking"

Me "Nope your manager found them stashed in the back room, the ones that you thought you gave me back and made me look like a thief when I went to trade at another local blockbuster"

Her "I have to call him and verify"

Me" Go ahread, I will wait (Smile)"

Her "He said you are cleared and an employee found them today"

I dident even get a sorry or an apology

as we were finishing the trade she said Gamestop(like they would know anything thats not about pre-orders) and asked about Co-op in Fantastic 4 if you need 2 copies (I told her you needed 2 copies to play co-op full screen) and they told her no you can play with just one copy split screen.......She wanted to bust me bad, but she failed, I hate Jr Detectives

I never played Fantastic four, so I made the 2 copies to play co-op up. lol
UPDATE
I didnt even get a sorry or an apology
l
well im glad you got your money back AND another 60 under your belt:applause:

her not saying sorry and/or not even give you and apology makes me wanna drive over there with you , and beat her ass!! :bomb::bomb::bomb:

lol im glad everyone is having fun with this once in a lifetime flip. I think 6x ratio is worth testing the waters for getting banned lol (you will also find out your limits with local BB which is good). king007 with $88 >> $660 is the winner! With this flip I think im done for a while because there is too much credit at BB which sits there with nothing to buy.

I told the manager at my store I had 15 copies of one game coming in. He kinda grimmaced, so I told him I wouldn't trade them all at one time (what a receipt that would be, lol).

Apparently there is a new list of pre-orders. It was one only the employees had (just sku's and whatnot). I didn't get a good luck at the list, but I pre-ordered Star Wars: Force Unleashed for PS3.

I really wanted to preorder a game at the BB I went to today to thank them for accepting the 6 copies of F4, but the games that I do want in August (Disgaea and Brothers In Arms) won't be out until 2 days after I get back to school. I felt bad. :(

Once that B1G1 drops, it'd be great if everyone could post the best possible transfers (as in, getting better credit back at GS after buying at BB) since I'm helping a few friends get their first PS3s. Here's to hoping things will stay the same for F4 after tomorrow.

Well I had a long day. Interesting but long.

I decided I would call up a remote TRU that is about 25 miles away from me to see if they had any F4. I called and some lady I could barely understand told me they did have a copy. I said do you have anymore and she said maybe but I can only hold 1. So Im like ok hold it ill be there in an hour.

So I leave and go there and this lady that held the game for me had left and a new girl was there and had no idea about the game that was supposed to be there waiting for me. She looked EVERYWHERE for the game and right before she was about to give up she noticed a carboard box behind the counter and inside of it was my copy of the game with a sticky note as well as 3 more copies. Bought them all obviously for $17.04.

Add those 4 to the 3 copies I got used from GS using BBV flipped credit and Fatal Inertia and SST PS3 as well.

Then decided to hit up 2 more GR stores that I had found using their list and google maps on the way back. First one had zero problems trading 2 copies in (along with a fatal inertia). Then while driving to the second GR store I spotted another regular BBV so went in there and turned in 2 more (along with SST for PS3). Oddly enough out of the 3 BBVs I went to the NON-GR one had the most games for me to buy to flip(wish I had known about the B1G1 bah!). Bought 7 games from there.

Got to the second GR store and traded in 1 copy no problems. They only had one spiderman FoF so I bought that (by the way its still 12.99 at all my BBVs).

Then finally made it back to my normal store and traded in the last 2 copies of F4 I had to finish it off.

so the $17---> $120 is very nice to say the least. And I have 10 more games total from those blockbusters that I am going to flip 2 at a time and get the $15 promo bonus at GS.

I did one pair tonight

Golden Compass + Spider FoF= $29.30 after $15 bonus! Actually made about $9 while transferring credit!

Then I walked into Target and noticed 9.98 clearance 360 games so I picked up 2 of those for free after coupon and will figure out best TIV for those as well. :D

Pretty solid day for me! Will be interested to see what prices hold tomorrow.

I've been trying to figure out what will be the best transfers. I just figured if I build up enough credit again, I'll just buy all those games on the 1st page wherever I see them. The ones that are about 1:1 will soon be 2:1. I doubt F4 will hold tomorrow because so many have been trading them in this week (I haven't even had a chance to look for any yet). I just hope it doesn't drop like stranglehold and plumit to 8 bucks or something.

Yeah that brings up a good point though. The ones on the list would be good still but if you have bought all of those up (like me lol) then im sure with it being B1G1 it opens up a whole other list of games that would at the very least make a good transfer to GS at even credit or better to get your credit at GS instead of BBV.

Right now I have $251 credit at BBV (all free by the way) and I have $140 at GS (all free by the way) and I also have a stack of 10 games that after the $15 promo will give me ABOUT another $150 at GS.

Im pretty happy with that. So I guess when the B1G1 hits we can see what new titles will be able to be moved to GS for at least equaland obviously better credit! :D

As for F4 holding... Im not sure yet. I would say its got a 50/50 shot of holding where its at or plummeting completely. I dont think it would just drop a few dollars.

On a sidenote im HOPING AI:KR holds up for this one more week at least because apparently it just dropped to $14.98 at most Targets..which would make it $5 after that wonderful coupon. $5----> $35+$4.40 > F4 flip ;)
;) Always try to help a CAG when I can.

So we've got the B1G1 ($14.99 and under) at BBV and the extra $10 trade at GS. Now all we need is the B2G1 at GS for the flipping trifecta.
I'm practically salivating right now. Any idea on when the B1G1 sale is supposed to start

I am so pissed! Everyone besides me got a copy of F4 :(

Maybe I can get something decent on this B1G1 deal....any ideas on what may be a decent flip to GS?

Heatdolphin: it's American Idol Karaoke Rev I think
That's the last she'll be getting of my business.
By business do you mean giving lots of store credit for crappy games, then a few weeks/months later you rebuying the games at a super cheap price to inevitably flip to Gamestop? I wish we could figure how much they are losing due to CAGs...

Sucks you got banned, but the good thing about blockbuster is that there seem to be 3-5 per area.

So next monday b1g1? If so let the party begin\\:D/:whee:

LOL dammit. With all this flipping I've pretty much cleaned out my BBVs of trades. I have 15 titles sitting on my kitchen table right now! There is one that still has a ton of Spider-man Friend or Foe, but little else. Oh well. Looks like I'll finally get to pick up the Armored Core 4 and Sega Rally Revo I've been eyeing up at one of the Blockbusters.

LOL, touche.

Although, I still rent movies/games pretty often, so yeah. I'm not going to be doing that over there.

My stores have some GEMS that i have been waiting for a b1g1 to pick up, maro golf/tennis, paper mario, tales of symphonia, donkey kong jungle beat...basically a lot of games that GS prices waaaaay too high and BB prices moderately.

Against all odds I saw Persona 3 Fez...tagged at 44 dollars, isnt that like 14 dollars more then the MSRP?

Hahah, yes. It HAS to be mispriced.

Oh, and for those who've cleaned out their BBV's stock of conversion games, they should see the B1G1 as an opportunity. They can now buy more expensive games to convert their credit. They basically have a larger selection of games to choose from. Not the same, I know, as you won't be making as much credit, but it gives you more options when doing straight convertion.

Not really because apparently its only B1G1 on 14.99 and under games.
I tried to flip some F4 and SMB:BB today there and the guy didn't know how to do it. The manager asked him to pull up my trade account. The monitor was turned slightly to me, so I saw what it said. It was flashing near the bottom "DO NOT TRADE TO THIS CUSTOMER!!!"

I was like, WTF? She looked at it, told me that they don't accept trades anymore, and gave me dirty looks. The bitch banned me because I went over her head to get the credit on my card. I went to 4 other BBVs after that and traded no problem. That's the last she'll be getting of my business.
is that flag on the blockbuster account level (for all stores) or on the trade account level (at the individual store)

Aren't there some titles that get crappy TIVs at GS and weren't worth picking up, even at 14.99, but with B1G1 then the 14.99 becomes a viable option?

I never said it was great, but it is an option. :p
is that flag on the blockbuster account level (for all stores) or on the trade account level (at the individual store)
I'm gonna assume that it's on the trade account level at that individual store. I went to 4 BBVs afterward, one where I had to create an account and three where my accounts were already created. Ran into no problems besides having to teach the cashiers how to do trade ins.

She even had the nerve to tell me earlier that they don't do Value Cards any more and the other BBVs aren't supposed to be doing it... She's the only one who's told me that out of maybe 10 BBVs I've visited in one of my flipping runs.

I was livid because she wouldn't reverse the transaction even though we'd JUST done it. My new $70 of credit was stuck to a store with crappy selection. I asked her for the corporate number. She said that she didn't have it. Obviously.

Oh well yeah...but I thought you meant it just meant we could transfer our credit in bigger chunks with more expensive games.

What is this B1G1 you fellas are speaking about? Blockbuster is having a B1G1 on used games? or used games and DVD's? What is the dealio with it all? Can I get the low down because I have one copy of Silver Surfer that I'm trading in tomorrow and I'll just keep the credit until this "sale" and get me a few more games.

These threads are so confusing because there are so many posts and everyone posts like everyone else is up to date.

thanks. just wondering because i had an interesting experience today

bbv 1 - cannot trade that game (but they frowned at the pc before even scanning the game
bbv 2 - traded in 4
bbv 3 - reached max limit (2 already in inventory)

so, i was wondering if the bbv 1 guys saw a flag or something from yesterday's few trades (3 traded in total at 3 stores). these are all new trade accts btw. i'm gonna head out tonight and try to dump the other 5 that i've got.

You probably already screwed yourself by not trading in the F4 today. It will more then likely go down a good bit in TIV tomorrow. If not then you are very lucky.
You've already proven that you know how to read. Maybe you should look a few pages back.
BRAVO! :applause::applause::applause:

Well, as far as I know, and from what I've read in the OP, individual BBVs can't see each others' trade accounts. As long as you trade 1 copy to each store, they shouldn't have any reason to suspect anything... now if you look suspicious and they call all local BBVs, then you could be in trouble.

The B1G1 starts July 8th (they have not announced the end date yet). It is for all games 14.99 and less and should be going on at all corporate BBV's and GR's. Expect at least a few more games to go UP in price to 16.99.

What do you know about the reported (in its own thread) Games half off from the 3rd until the 7th?

here you go.
i got good news...i can confirm that there will be a B1G1 next week....i was trading a copy of FF:RotSS and the employee there was actually a CAGER too...he said that they just got the notice about it today...since the extra $10 for 2 next gen games and the extra $15 coupon are going to end near the end of the month and the start of next month repectively...this is going to be a really good time for flipping...just wanna give a heads up to the employee at BBV today...
This is amazing. My Blockbuster in one of their 3-4 game clearance bins in the middle of the story buried has a copy of Mario Power Tennis mint for $14.99. Hopefully it lasts.

I dont know right now but Ill be on the phone tomorrow to verify TIV of:

AI:KR
Timeshift
Tony Hawks Proving Ground

Im sure there will be plenty of people finding out the F4 TIV lol.... so ill wait for that one.

I am  all night tonight that AI:KR stays the same. $5--->$40 is going to be sweet :D

Could Stranglehold be a possible option? Its $15 at BB and trades in for $10, i think, at GS. Buy two at blockbuster for $15 and trade them in into GS for $30.

Double credit!
And all of us know our BBs are full of Stranglehold ;)

hahahaha that would be the funniest thing in a long time i think. Although according to the other thread it gets a base of $5. Which would make it $10.50 with normal bonus and edge or 21.00 for two. OR $25 for 2 if you use the NCAA coupon promo.

So $15--->$25 in GS credit is pretty nice. Would be a nice thing to do to help BBV out too haha.
What is AI:KR? Where can I buy it, how much does it cost, and what is the current TIV before tonight?
Seriously. This was just last page and only a few posts before you started posting here. I'll give you this one.
I am so pissed! Everyone besides me got a copy of F4 :(

Maybe I can get something decent on this B1G1 deal....any ideas on what may be a decent flip to GS?

Heatdolphin: it's American Idol Karaoke Rev I think
No one here is your secretary, so do your own reading... unless you plan on paying us in free games.

why don't we create a faq for all these constant questions that keep being asked? im personally not annoyed at it (even though it does fill up this thread with a lot of clutter) but i think a faq on the first post of the thread would definitely help

Oddly enough... 90% of the questions being asked ARE answered in the first post.

The other 10% is split:
5% of questions are answered more then likely in the past 5 pages before the question was asked.
The last 5% are questions asking for TIV(normally during hours they could just call and find out themselves).

Sorry people with the name nyprimus arent privy to that information. :bomb:

Click on their name, and choose "ignore __________".

If Stranglehold holds at $14.99 at GR for sale and $5 a GS for TIV, this will be an epic recycle.

Bought Stranglehold for $18. Flipped to GR for $33. Rebuy 4 copies with $33. Take them back to GS for $52.

Reduce, reuse, recag.

Another thing to notice is the $5 quote for TIV for stranglehold was for the 360 version. I know, I myself, was turning in PS3 copies to BB. And NORMALLY the PS3 TIVs are higher then the 360 values at GS so it might be a bit more for the PS3 versions.

Don't you notice that ALOT of BBV employee give you weir attitude when you come in to trade game instead of buying or renting? I came back to the same store today to buy a ps3 bundle 40GB with all the credit i got from flipping FFs and they greeted me like their F*****G god or something cuz I payed the rest with my own money. I really dislike BBV employee's attitude I never really like to shop for games or rent movies there unless I have to. But yeah I'm done flipping FFs there lol they might ban me if i bring another 2 copies to any of their stores lol. Gonna wait awhile til i trade my Transformer for PS3 in there to get MSG4. Anyone know if Transformer for PS3 still getting $30 at BBV?

I haven't really noticed it where I am. It just always takes a very long time to get a trade going, as BBV employees are generally less knowledgable about trade ins. They don't get them often. As such, it takes me much longer to do flipping than I'd like, but at the rate I'm accumulating credit, I won't complain.
Can we get an update to the OP with details of the B1G1 sale? It might be helpful to just point people in that direction.
Im sure IO will take care of it the next time hes on. Although its still about a week away anyways.
