Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Guitar Hero On Tour
i'm confused. it sounds like they're going to use the 25% to buy sst/viking/condemned 2 at GS, then flip to BB. you sound like you're going to buy those games at BB and flip to GS.

also, which platform is viking on?
Viking and Condemned are both for the 360. I don't really know about SST.

You guys make me feel like a noob =(. I only have $25 at BBV and $41 at GS. I'm not going to use any money at all though. Even if it means missing a 6x deal. I started with $40 in BBV credit and am doing pretty good considering there weren't that many great games around here for me to flip.
Logic would dictate that if there are numerous CAGs flipping in SoCal, the odds of finding good flipping material is low. I think I'm the only flipper in my area, seeing as that there are still 7 copies of F4 at my toysrus (that i am too nervous to flip since ive already done 12 at various BBs)
where in socal is this tru?

Confirmations from today:

PS3 -
Harry Potter: OotP - $16 ($9.99 at Gamestop)
MLB 07 The Show - $13 (250pts on Goozex)

Wii -
FF: RoSS - $30

360 -
Fatal Inertia - $32

I dumped 7 of my Fatal Inertia's, my manager buddy unfortunately worked the morning shift today, so i'll catch him tomorrow to get rid of the other 8. I jumped when I saw that they had one of the "Why So Serious" Dark Knight "paintings" left at one location. I snatched it up right away (and pretty much only paid $13.32 for it since Fatal Inertia covered everything except 9 cents, which was already on my account from a previous trade). I did some inventory of B1G1 fodder and it looks like I should be able to move a decent amount of credit should prices/values hold until Monday.

The 25% off coupon has some good opportunities. Sega Superstars Tennis would be $12.15 -> $25 if you combine the edge & coupon. Fatal Inertia would be $16.25 -> $32. Condemned 2 & Viking: BFA would be $17.50 -> $30?

just how many Fatal I. did you buy off Amazon? I was too late to buy it, I was scared the TIV would drop on tomorrow

I've seen this at 7 out of the 8 Blockbusters I've been to. I would have to say it is as "rare" as all the other framed artwork around here.
anyone kno the current TIVs for Gh2, Mass Effect, Assassins creed
Your local BB does...CALL THEM!

Well, from what I heard, each store is only going to get 1. One of my stores had all their older ones for half off. It was mostly racing, there was also Beowulf, Jaws, Terminator 2, Metallica, and Megadeth.
just how many Fatal I. did you buy off Amazon? I was too late to buy it, I was scared the TIV would drop on tomorrow
15. I risked it since they didnt arrive til Wednesday, but a good way to know if a TIV will drop is to see on Sunday if the used price drops. Usually if a used price of a game drops (which happens on Sundays) the TIV will drop come Tuesday.

Does BB offer cash or only credit? Also, do you have to be a member to trade? I havent used my card for years, Im not sure if its even valid, probably need to update my credit card info...

only store credit; u have to create a trade account (with a membership card)

TIVs BB>GS:

:360:Far Cry Predator - $12.50 (with extra $15 coupon)

it's $14.99 at BBV...i had extra credit so i decided to try out potential $14.99 games to flip from BBV to GS during the B1G1...next game to test is :ps3:PotC...i forgot to ask them at GS...there was a grip of people there today...

another TIV at GS but out of my personal collection:

:360:Fight Nigh Round 3 - $16.30 (with extra $15 coupon)

I picked up 3 copies of Fantastic Four for Wii at $12. I don't have a membership at BlockBuster so I'll have to create one tomorrow along with a trading account.

I've read the OP thoroughly- is there any other advice you guys have for a trade-in newcomer?

I figured as much. :D I might drop one off when I open my account and then make my way to the BlockBuster on the other side of town.

This isn't the right thread, but have people had any success pricematching TRU's clearance games at WalMart?

In my experience no store will price match another store's clearance items unless they are advertised in a weekly ad.

I was able to get 9 copies of Fantastic Four Wii at one TRU store :)

I should be in good shape for the B1G1 sale starting next Tuesday now!

Do you think that they will drop the price of Fantastic Four next Tuesday? Im really Counting that they dont. What do you guys think?

God I hope so.

with some of the stores already rejecting them as trades, i would imagine they'd be smart enough to drop the TIV.

Anyone know the trade in value of Viking?

Anyoen have teh TVI of Condamned 2too?

where is everyone buying wii fantasy four from???

Yes- it's that annoying.

All in favor of silencing anyone who posts noting more than a TIV request, say "I".

look back one page at 6:56pm

saw a few 24.99 games at gs that might be flippable depending on tiv. have to check in the morning when they open up

timeshift
assassins creed
c&c 3
nhl 2k8
college hoops 2k8

couple fairly recent titles. some might still be high. all would be like $16 and change after coupon and edge.

Im pretty sure timeshift and assasians creed sell at BB for 24.99 or 26.99 so the TIV would probably be around 13.

So far all ive figured out is Condemned 2, Viking, Guitar Hero 3, SST (if i can find it) not looking too good so far.....:bomb:

I think GS is catching on to us, TIV's dropping in 2 dollars or more...which CAGs traded in mutiple copies of this?

Golden Compass $9.99 -> $9.40
Jumper $9.99 -> $9.40 (this just fell to $9.99 NEW at GS, so expect a big drop in trade-in value there soon)
Just Cause $9.99 -> $8.30

Meet The Robinsons: $6.99 -> $9.40
Spiderman 3: $9.99 -> $10.50
Spiderman Friend or Foe $12.99 -> $10.50
Superman Returns $9.99 -> $7.75
Virtua Tennis 3 $9.99 -> $11.60

I'm assuming V. Tennis 3 and Spiderman 3 will soon take the next hit

a few posts back...some said that the PS3 version of NHL 08 gets $30...since PS3 titles usually get a little bit more than their 360 counterparts...i am estimating the TIV in the range of $27-$29...if im right..that is not a bad flip...

Oh man, I just blew through almost all of my GS credit ($230 or so) last week buying a ton of Gamecube games. Looks like I'll have to wait until the B1G1 to take before I take advantage of the 360 coupon and flip right back to BB. At least all of the stores near me have a ton of used Viking and Condemned. I think I'd bee able to pick up as many as I needed.

HC:BftP is still a solid flip...$16 plus change after edge and coupon...its TIV is still $25...

I read that first sentence and at first I thought, is Kunai really asking that? We've lost him. Then I read the second sentence and smiled.

"I"
sorry - what the heck does HC:BotP stand for?
History Channel: Battle for the Pacific

Thanks Judge. Now I have a second game to trade.

I also was going to wait for the B1G1 to transfer some BBV credit, but right now I think I'm going to transfer almost all of it. Lots of games are taking the plunge. I need to get rid of all those Spiderman 3's while the $15 coupon works for them. $4 TIVs are no-nos.

Blockbuster also is now accepting preorders for fallout 3, and soul caliber IV. I work at one in maryland, and it should be nationwide, provided your CSR knows about it. Ask a manager if they don't.

curious....does blockbuster pricematch?

Just noticed these 2 went down in price recently for used:

Madden 08 - 19.99
Pro Evolution Soccer - 26.99 Went down 18 bucks.....

Not sure about madden, but the soccer game might be of interest

C'mon people - those of you dumping all these FF:RoSS and scouting things out for B1G1 need to come up with more $14.99 and under games that we can add to the OP. We got most of the GS prices in the other thread. Let's get some BB pricing up there. This will be critically important for me next week as I'll have limited computer access - I want to print out a list by Tuesday ;). Since most BB's don't properly mark the prices I want to make sure I don't overlook anything! I'll check out my local store this weekend but they don't have much there any more.

Even if it is a $2 loss, when you consider you're now only paying half for each copy it'd be like going $3.50 -> $9.40 on MTR, $6.50 -> $10.50 on Spiderman FoF, and so on. I'm just hoping that on Sunday Blockbuster doesn't raise a bunch of games to $16.99 to make them ineligible.

I know I saw the regular 360 & PS3 versions of stranglehold for $14.99. If they really are $10 at GS, it'll be $7.50 -> $15. I'm not sure how much Lost Planet is worth, but that one would be $7.50 -> ? My gamerush has been keeping more updated prices on their stuff. I'm probably going to head there later after some hunting at TRU.

Sucks... I asked at my BB and they told me the only promotion they were doing was "Donate DVDs to the troops". Nice and all, but not too helpful for me. The guy at the counter had the same reaction as me when he called in, actually.

Here are a few more to add to the list (all were 14.99 at my BB):

Wii:

MLB Power Pros $6.00
Sonic and the Secret Rings $9.00
Shrek III ?

360:

Gun $2.50
Pro Ev Soccer 2007 4.00
