Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Guitar Hero On Tour

Btw are 60 GIGs a rare commodity in Blockbuster? I've decided to cut my losses and hunt for that instead after some research. Apparently the only real difference between the two is the extra 20 Gigs. >_>
actually the 60 gb has full backwards compatibility where as the 80 only has some backwards compatibility. the 80 uses software emulation like the 360 so they have to update it to add games. the 60 has the ps2's emotion engine chip inside.

so is LoZ: Twilight Princess for GameCube confirmed $14.99 at BBV?

and does anyone know what it trades into GS for?
How in the hell did you find so many? There were only about 4 in a 30 mile radius around me (which includes 10-12 GS stores). Luckily for me 2 were at 1 store. I might be by one of the others tomorrow but then that's it - 3 of 'em, and I considered that lucky.
Amazon had them on sale for $13.22 back on the 27th. I hoarded em up, but hey, it paid off pretty well in the long run. I was only able to find 3 Fatal Inertias in a 20 mile area at GS, but I left one because it was disc only.

I just remembered I still have that Dark Knight gift card for $21.40, so if I pick up another 4 spiderman 3's, thats $21.40 -> $42. Karma must have been on my side as far as that gift card went. I lost $8 credit since I bought X-men & Graw and they only traded for $1 each, but when I got the gift card because the Blockbuster couldn't find two games I paid for (before they pulled the discs), they refunded me the price of both games (instead of one since it was B1G1).

And yes, LoZ; TP (GC) is $14.99 at BB. If you cant find one, i've got one with disc & case (no manual) for $15 shipped.

I think i found a good credit -> cash flip. It sells for $70-80 @ GS and goes on ebay for as much as $150. Nearly every store by me has one, so I may buy up a bunch

I will confirm, saw one there last night. Considered picking it up, but passed.

- - - -

Had an amazing find last night. Found a mint, complete copy of Tetris DS at BlockBuster for $24.99. Picked that up immediately. Tetris really isn't my thing so it will likely go up for trade/sale here on CAG or Ebay at some point.

I just read this thread Tuesday night and decided to go see what i could find. First BB i said great a Beautiful Katimari, grant it i didn't take my list but was more acting off what i read and figured there are probably not that many dogs in the b1g1 free range at BB. It was labelled at 24.99 so i take it up to have it scanned and it lady said 19.99. Im thinking i swear i read this game as 14.99 in the thread but nevertheless i put it back. I end up grabbing 6 games i remember that were on the list.

Next day after a GS stop i decided to revisit that BB, this time with some trades. I get my Valuecard with my trades and decide to browse again, this time with my list. BK is still there so i have my daughter take it up to have it scanned thinking that maybe i misunderstood and she said 9.99. I can hear him after scanning and he tells my daughter 19.99. Im like WTF, as alot of the games there are mispriced anywhere from 5-15 off of the price on my list. Figure ill be embarrrased by taking a bunch up front for the B1G1 free special and them not ringing up per the list i have. After 3 BB visits i never once run into that problem. One funny thing is that cashiers will put aside any game stickered higher then 14.99 and say it's not part of special. I ask them for a courtesy scan and they ring up 14.99 or lower. I get confused looks on these cashiers faces and they ask, how did u know? I tell them i have the corporate list of prices and then they ask where did i get it. I proceed to tell them the internet is a wonderful thing!

Kinda weird as my BK is only oddity out of 50 game trades/buys yesterday that i ran into. I did get denied for a GHIII game because of the "not for resale" sticker but ill combat that today hopefully!

Turned $40 out of pocket into $239 in GS credit, BB credit of $5, 3 HD-DVD movies, 1 GHIII, 1 Cond 2, and one oblivion collectors edition that i got for $15. I also bought the edge membership and received it's price back with all the savings. They had a Two worlds collectors edition but couldnt find the 2nd disc to it so i took oblivion instead. Ive never played oblivion so hopefully it's fun as i plan to keep that game!

ink so well you should wait until oct then. There is also a rumor that Sony will release a firmware update in Oct that will make the 40gb system BC with PS2 games through full emulation method. 80 gb bundle isn't discontinuing, they're still selling on Sonystyle.com at certain time each day and retail stores are still getting them in every week. And there is also a rumor that Sony making a 120/160gb version this coming holiday season so yeah might want to wait a few month if you're not eager to play any specific game. I settled for a 40gb bundle cuz i couldn't handle the wait >.< wanted to play MGS4 really bad lol XD. Best game in like forever. Had a ps2 that was modded too and it was just sitting there and collect dust after i got my wii and 360. I can really careless about ps2 games since I never really play them or actually have any ps2 games to play.

:360: Condemned 2 $34.99 (or $22.74 with 25% + Edge)-> $32
:360: Fatal Interia $24.99 (or $16.24 with 25% + Edge) -> $32
:360: Guitar Hero III $29.99 (or $19.49 with 25% + Edge) -> $28.50
:360: History Channel Battle for the Pacific $24.99 (or $16.24 with 25% + Edge) -> $25
:360: Sega Superstar Tennis $29.99 (or $19.49 with 25% + Edge) -> $25
:360: Viking $34.99 (or $22.74 with 25% + Edge) -> $32
:360: World Championship Poker All In ($5.84 with 25% + Edge) -> $12

Are all these prices the same?

Sounds like everyone wants a shiny new PS3. I'd probably hold off until after August because of inside information from a Wal-Mart inventory list (on either Joystiq or Kotaku) which states that the 40GB is to be "replaced" with a newer model sometime in August. Of course, this is far from confirmed, but I have my reasons to believe that it makes logical sense (BC issues, Dualshock replacing SixAxis, etc.). I've already got my PS3 so I really could care less, but an interesting tidbit for those who are searching.

For those of you in the OC, stay away from Oscar at the GS on Orangethorpe in Buena Park. He will nickel and dime you for every little scratch (2x $2 refurbs and 1x $1 refurb out of 8 games). He also "informed" me that no other GS would ever let me use the $10/2 trade and the 35% off coupon on the same transaction, and acted like he was doing me a favor. According to him, no other GS would do this...except the four I visited the day before, and the one I visited yesterday.

On a somewhat more pleasant note, BB employees seem a lot nicer when you're buying tons of the junk they though they'd never get rid of. It takes them forever to find some of the games, but they seem a little more friendly. I guess actually buying something from BB instead of trading games in will do that.

Before I go, I just want to thank Io for his superb lists and research. Thanks again Io, and keep it up. :applause: Your list works nice on my phone (which supports Office Mobile) BTW. Everyone on this thread should be thanking Io, because I know I probably would have quit after adding a few games.

Did I miss where you told us all what this magical item is? ;)

What's the next big flip to Blockbuster.

Viking
Condemned 2
FF: RotSS
Stranglehold PS3

Come on man I need a hit!!!!!

I'm going to go to GS today and trade in a few games, but what are these magical flip items I hear about. I've read Fatal Inertia so I'll look out for that, anything else amazing? I'll have about $60 at GS by the end of today. Also how many games is too many games to trade in to any one GS or BB? I only have one GS and 2 BBs near me.

I think we'll have to wait until either some new Gamestop price drops come around or GS starts a B2G1 (or both). Today's the last day for the 25% off 360 coupon, so C2 and Viking are still decent for today and there's always Harry Potter PS3 if you can find it, for $9.99 -> $16.

just finished my 3 day bb-gs run. started with $300 BB and $170 GS and ended up with $660 GS and $3 BB (bout as close as you can cut it). i was lucky and went with only 9.40 value and up on the 9.99 games and 11.60 and up on the 14.99 games. ended up making $193 in just profit from BB to GS. hit about 6 or 7 stores and bought probably 60 games or more. very good week indeed. my credit started initially with about $100 cash from ff4 from tru and gamestop. now bring on the b2g1!!!!

Well, I guess I'll go get a Fatal Inertia to flip back to BB and possibly something else....maybe Condemned or Viking. I do not mind Blockbuster credit at this point.

Ok, here's the second best flip at the moment (next to Fatal Inertia):

History Channel: BftP - 24.99 at GS (I'm in a rush so you do the math for the bonus) $25 GR TIV
Madden 07: $5.99 at GS, $6 GR TIV

Compare to Viking: 31 base price for these games, $35 for Viking -----> $31 GR credit for these, $32 for Viking. YMMV if your GR is overstocked for Madden 07.... (don't forget to calculate bonuses!!!!!!)

Thanks, although I think a lot of us are overlooking World Series Poker. While it's not as sexy because it's only $12, it's still a nice bit of sugar if you're already running around between GS and BBV.
World Series Poker All In - $12 tiv confirmed

:360: World Championship Poker All In ($5.84 with 25% + Edge) -> $12
Is the flip only good at GameRush or does BlockBuster Video accept trade ins? I'm looking to flip some games back and forth... but don't have a GameRush near here... I flipped $42 worth of $9.99 games from Blockbuster yesterday to $79 Gamestop ;)

Bullet Witch, TR: Legend, 2x Shrek 3rd, EDF, PotC, Golden Compass & something else...

got Quake Wars & Alone in the Dark and still had credit left over... not too shabby for $42 ;)
It's worth checking around for, but try low traffic stores as far as console purchases like BBV/GR, Sears, KMart. I got my 60 at the end of February at a GR and they still had another one a few weeks ago when I asked. I also saw a 60 GB in Bristol, TN at a KMart. They're still out there, just in really limited supply. Still $500 at Kmart by the way.
ORLY? I might have a fighting chance after all. Thanks man.

I had completely forgotten about the emotion chip. Unfortunately it's probably more of a rare commodity here than the MGS4 bundle, but damn. It appears THIS was the version I should have been hunting down in the first place. I fail as a gamer. ;\
ink so well you should wait until oct then. There is also a rumor that Sony will release a firmware update in Oct that will make the 40gb system BC with PS2 games through full emulation method. 80 gb bundle isn't discontinuing, they're still selling on Sonystyle.com at certain time each day and retail stores are still getting them in every week. The only issues I have with rumors are that they aren't confirmed. A lot of people have taken the firmware update with a grain of salt. Plus if I find a 60 the extra cost to get full confirmed BC with the emotion chip is more than worth the money for myself and my needs. I've never been a huge "Does have a diamond encrusted espresso maker with bluetooth, transform into a life sized robot fashioned in the likeness of my 7th grade teacher, beam down aliens AND double as an alternator for my car" extras kind of gamer because the opportunities to use them rarely present themselves in my budget lifestyle.

Take the PSP and its firmware updates for televisions and computers for instance. I have no desire whatsoever in browsing the internet on it, transfering files or playing anything on my television through it so those most of those music/computer/television add-ons are usually the equivalent of a big shiny new red button to me. I just flat out don't use them, can afford to use them, or don't have time to use them.

Couple in the fact that I could find a cheap used laptop HD to replace the 60s HD if necessary unless the rumored new PS3 is confirmed and then happens to come with something I'll actually want or can take advantage of I don't see the point in waiting. Needless to say I won't mind sitting on the credit if I can't find a 60 here or in Buffalo because who knows how many flipping opportunities may present themselves during the wait, but if I can find a 60 then I might as well take it.

Does anyone know the return policy on systems bought with credit?

And thanks as always for the input guys. I appreciate your opinions and wealth of knowledge on the subject. Aside from last night I can't recall when last I dug for information for the system.

Just came back form my local BB. I bought Fatal Inertia and Guitar Hero 3 to flip from GS to BB.

The guy took FI, but couldn't take GH3 because the back part said "not for resale" where the UPC should be.

Have you guys had this problem? And what did you do to solve it?

I simply removed the cover art and suggested the clerks look it up on the system so they wouldn't know or suspect it came from the bundle, but Sniper argued the GH guitar wasn't a GHIII exclusive item and since it worked with other games he shouldn't have to include anything else just to trade it and only it in.

In the end both of these methods worked for us. I ended up flipping six of them when my hunt was all said and done.

Both of the GHIII's I bought from GS said 'No resale' on it; when I took them to Blockbuster, I just brought them the back cover of one from their shelves to check the trade in value (Back cover meaning a UPC they could scan). They didn't really care.

I think some of you are overlooking (in terms of taking this GS credit and turning into cash) - the fact that come Sunday, the Xbox 360 will be 300 bucks. Throw those on Craigslist the day of, before anyone catches on to the price break, and you could net yourself even more profit - and even if they don't sell, you can return them to Gamestop for full credit as a fallback option.

What a fiasco last night picking up another set of games. It turns out and I confirmed this when looking at some earlier purchases, that the stupid BB system screws up if you're purchase has a mix of 14.99, 12.99 (Spiderman FOF) and 9.99 purchases.

Basically the system just deducted the 9.99$'s and left the 14.99 as is. So I did get 6 of the 12 games for free, but the free games were all deducted from the 9.99$ purchases at the end of the receipt. (when the system works correctly the deductions appear throughout the receipt).

The poor GR guy had no clue how to fix it, and after 30+ mins ended up giving me the difference in cash.

I then arrived at GS to trade some of the games and discovered he had not put two of the games in the cases. Doh!!

I was also refused use of the 15$ photocopy at three different GS's, so the gig is up, which sucks as I will now have to take a loss on my last 4 games. Serves me right for pushing it one last time.

So now I need to go back to at least 2 GR/BB's to have them fix my receipt

For GHIII, just switch cover art with their rental copies. For GHII, go to GameStop and switch the cover art there.

Well, I did get the LAST Fatal Inertia at the GaeStop by my work.....then went in the same plaza and traded into BB

Blockbuster credit = $313
GameStop credit = $23

Not bad. I think I made about $40 for flipping four/five games basically. Most of my Blockbuster are starting to get picked clean, plus I don't really push ym luck flipping.

Bought 4 games at Blockbuster for $20, turned into $40 at GameStop. Then spent $16 at GameStop -> $32 at Blockbuster. Not really impressive I know, but it was easy since I did it on my lunch break and got lunch today.

Well, I work 10 hours a day and have a kid so it's hard to drive 10 miles away after work and get home before my son has to go to bed. I may try some other BBV's far away on Saturday, but unless I know there games at those locations, it a waste of time and gas. I think there are just too many flippers here.

If I live in Gresham, I would do it for sure. There are quite a few BBVs not far from each other.

Sounds like a rough day you had. The system at BBV won't screw you, it's the way the games are scanned. The chick at my BBV seperated all the games into 2 stacks (1 for 14.99 and 1 for the 9.99 games). All they have to do is scan 2 of the 14.99 games back to back. That way it applies the discount(it will read as credit -14.99 on their screen) to the second game. This way you won't lose any credit for the more expensive stuff. I had them do this on 3 different visits to the store while I was clearing out their used stuff to flip to GS. I saved a bunch of credit this way and in the end was surprised the BBV employee was the one that brought this up.
Sounds like a rough day you had. The system at BBV won't screw you, it's the way the games are scanned. I believe after every two games they scan, you need them to hit "total".

yup, that is correct. i had to walk one of the csr's through my transaction when her location didn't even know about the sale. i separated the games myself (luckily i knew the prices, they had chromehounds priced at $59.99!), and had her hit total after every pair.

So I tried flippin some games last night from BBV to GS and I was really disappointed. I read on here that Saints Row sold for 14.99 at BBV (which was correct) traded in for $10.50 at GS........yea....turns out its only $5. I bought 4 copies-got two free so I made ten bucks for trading in all 4 which isnt bad. I was just really excited about what the profit would have been had the TIV really been $10.50 :whistle2:/

oh, and after factoring in gas and the roughly two hours I spent doing it.............. definitely wasn't worth the effort. Could have just worked another hour at work and made more than 10 bucks,lol.

you need to reread the OP (and 2nd post)...

You need to trade in games in PAIRS to get the extra $10 bonus. Also, use the Edge card for an additional 10%

Saint's Row - $5 + .50 (10%) + $5 bonus = $10.50...(if you traded in 2 or more at one store, then you got shafted...take your receipt back and ask for the $10 bonus)

EDIT: Oh, wait, you didn't trade them in in pairs? I guess you couldn't have if you had four of the same title. None of my GSes let me trade in multiples on the same visit.

Oh PLEASE tell me you traded in 1 copy at a time with no other games.

By the way if you bought 4 copies with 2 free at $14.99 that would mean you spent $30 and your TIV to GS would be $5x4=$20. So you LOST $10 ...not gained.

lol, sry guys I left some info out. I traded two in at a time (which was cool suprisingly) so at each GS I walked out with 20 bucks. 5 for each game which gave me 10, and then the $10 bonus- leading to a $5 profit for trading in two. Like I said it wasnt awful and yea I did misread the original post thinkin it was $10.50 PER game. Thats all I was saying was that I had the wrong train of thought after spending $30 thinking I was gunna make 60.
*oh and I dn't have an Edge card which is why I didnt get the extra dollar at each place :p
Thanks for the responses-as you can see I am a Newbie to this and I gladly welcome any advice.

The big flips happen when going GS-->BBV. BBv pays a lot for certain games. GS on the other hand doesn't, so these coupons and TIV specials they run are the only way to get something decent from them.

Which BBs did you hit up?

hey i just bought 2 games at blockbuster for 9.99 each, they were top spin 2 and prey. I took the games with others to GS and they said they werent worth any value to trade. Luckily i kept the reciept for BB. I took the games back with reciept told them they were scratched and picked out 2 more and they refunded me back 19.99. Im thinking there computers arent discounting them back as 9.99. So Anyone try this and let me know if u get away with it cause this is an even faster way to grab 2 more games Free OF charge thanks to BB.

Ummm it IS $10.50 per game. Its the $5 base plus the $5 promo applied to it when you trade in 2 next gen games. Plus the .50 for EDGE. So therefore for ONE game its $10.50.

$10.50x4=$42

I thought it was $10.50 PER game BEFORE the BONUS. Again I misread it, and had the wrong mindset going into it. It wasn't worth the driving and almost two hours of time it took to pick out the games and drive back and forth.
Thanks for the response though man

I think its called stealing.:shame:

i just traded in another PSU and MUA (bought it with GS credit forza2 bundle). But they had a copy of Condemned 2 for $27 (before coupon+edge). Was it a mistake to pass it up? I've never flipped before so should i go back and get it to trade into BB/Gr and get some more b1g1 games?

You should.... It should be $34.99 now, but they usually honor their sticker price.
