Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Good god this thread moves way too fast nowadays. Anyways, I'm pretty sure this info got posted a day or two ago, but who the hell knows where it is now.

B1G1 has been extended until the 28th at BBV due to it's "unexpected success." :D In an attempt to refill the used game section, a bigger than usual rental --> used game transfer will occur on Sunday.

A X360 should be available at all stores now for $350. It'll be the X360 (sorry don't remember what version), Blue Dragon, a wireless controller, a 3 month Live card, and a 4 week rental card (good for 4 free rentals, 1 per week).

edit- Oh yeah. As io mentioned a couple days ago, all stores have received a BUNCH of DS systems (pink, red, blue, white, black)and games to sell (new).

:wii:DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 $18.90->$30

And this one to a lesser extent but still "solid":

:wii:Mortal Kombat: Armageddon $17.49->$26

You know what I have to say about that post about a DM talking about flipping. Heres a question. What in the HELL do they care? We are buying their products along their terms. We are stocking their inventory along their terms. I really cant see why they would even care what we do with what we buy... or where we got what we are trading in as long as its not stolen. I mean really.
same thing i thought when he told me. what he said was that when they do a coupon like the 25% off ps3 that they lose money on those games, but they do it at a limit to keep customers loyal. that is total bs. gs NEVER loses money on a game with their crappy trade in values. you gonna tell me that they give more than 19.49 trade in credit for rock band? i dont think so. he played off like gs is the victim even saying that people are "running their own business" through gs.

Great job on maintaining and updating the list I provided, Dark - it's good to see some teamwork going on here.

Some TIV's from today's flipping:
World Championship Poker:All in gets $12 now - I thought it got higher, so it may have dropped last week.
Confirmed HC:BFTP Xbox 360 gets $25 now
COnfirmed Fatal Inertia @ 32.00 (360)
Confirmed Blacksite for PS3 still 33.00

Also, I spoke to some more employees in the area; it looks like the Trade 2, get 10 promo may be extended once again for a few days. This is according to two CSR's at two different stores.

Also, a beneficial tip for anyone who is having trouble moving credit 'on your account' to a Value Card at Blockbusters. I have had a hell of a time doing so once they already post it to my account, so I found a workaround. Purchase a gift card for the amount of money on account, this essentially moves it all on there and you can use it at any Blockbuster. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been discussed.

I picked up Zach and Wiki today, returned / rebought my HD-DVD drive and Wireless controller and got them at the new 30% off rate, and purchased a mint condition wireless headset for the 360 for roughly 30 bucks.

Also, I mentioned it before, but look in TRU for the Xbox Live 12 month Vision Bundles: they are 31.98 after the 20% off clearance, and then with the 5 off 25 it brings the total after tax to 28.60. Considering the sub is 50, and the camera is 40 new, that's a hell of a deal.

Edit: As warner mentioned above me, I can confirm I already saw the Blockbuster Xbox 360 Blue Dragon bundle for sale.

This should work and I've done it before, but every now and then you run into a very strict manager who refuses to do it.

Few and far between, but worth noting.

so from what ive seen so far not much in the way of flips. here is what ive found that is over 1.5x ratio (as low as i will go)

wii
Octomania - $9.09->$23 2.53
DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 $18.90->$30 1.59

360
Fatal Inertia - $17.50->$32 1.83
Pro Evo Soccer 2008 - $18.90->$28.50 1.51

ps3
Blacksite: Area 51 - $17.49->$33 1.89
History Channel: Battle for the Pacific - 17.49 -->$30 1.72
Eye Of Judgement $21.00->$36 1.71
Pro Evo Soccer 08 $18.89->$30 1.59
Rock Band - $21.00->$33 1.57

Is the 360 bundle at BB a really good value? What do you guys think?

I need to transfer some credit from GS - BB if it is. TIA
does anyone know if they will be getting the new 60gb sku for the 360 everytime i asked they kept telling me about their bundle.
No word as of yet from my end either but I'll ask again today and keep the thread posted. Every manager and clerk have ran into so far were clueless stating they had no idea there was a new 360 coming out and only began to realize why the 20 GB was price dropped.

As for GS cracking down on flippers I sincerely hope those eggheads change their minds and realize we aren't breaking any laws of any sort. We aren't heroes by any means and shouldn't be treated as such, but neither should we be treated as criminals for legally restocking their shelves and clearing out games no one in their right minds would bother to play. Hopefully if they intend to put a sock in our activities it'll bite them later on in the ass and force them to repair the damage. I'm just grateful I started this apparently at the right time. It sucks that a few idiots couldn't keep their damn mouths shut and had to ruin it.

I don't think that anyone necessarily said anything at a GS. Couldn't it just be that one employee noticed that a few certain people traded in tons and tons of games in Blockbuster cases while buying up multiple copies of the same game? And couldn't that one employee bring it up in a meeting that jogs the memory of other employees in the region to recall Blockbuster cases filling their shelves? And one out of all the employees who remember could have found out when visiting a local Blockbuster that they're having a Buy 1 Get 1 free sale. I'm also sure that $1000 balances on gift cards is definitely something that an employee would remember.

No one may have admitted anything, but with the saturation of people flipping and the number of employees exposed, it's not that difficult to figure out if one person brings it up.

I've seen recently traded games behind the counter at Gamestops with Blockbuster stickers still intact. #-o Might as well attach a can of paint from your car when you drive from BB to GS...
Food for thought
The totals and bragging of many really needs to stop being posted.
keep the posts simple with current TIVs/date only, delete all the posts with totals and indicators of totals...turned xx into yy. In other words just the facts mam and no flags ...

Good call. At the very least, maybe once a new thread is created, there could be a little note to that effect in the OP.

Agreed. We're using their coupons and promos. Prolly just a pissed-off DM with a wild hair up his ass. As long as the corporate overlords don't see a negative impact on the bottom line, I can't imagine anything will come of this.

LOL @ "unexpected success." Maybe by the promotion's third week all the employees will know what they're doing. Thanks for the update.

I'd say that GS *almost* never loses money on stuff even with these promos and coupons, but perhaps not *never*. Case in point, if somebody trades in MGS4 without Edge or any promo, they $30 for it. If they paired it with another game and used Edge though, they'd get $38. Last week, we could buy it with Edge and Coupon for $35.74 + tax. Point being that in rare cases, they could potentially lose money, but only to the tune of a few bucks. And folks who use promos and coupons religiously are in the minority I'm sure.

Their company is so profitable though that I can't imagine it makes much of a dent either way though.

Thanks for the clarification. Updated my post (although it'll get buried quickly).

io- Maybe we should update the OP. Take out the section in post 1 that shows what games should be available new. Then insert a section that lists systems/bundles carried at all BBV's (so the PS3 bundle, standalone PS3, 360 bundle, 360 standalone, Wii standalone, and DS standalone) + maybe only a couple of games when they become available (like Wiii Fit, Madden, etc.).

The bundle at blockbuster isn't bad at all... Might end up making me purchase one..

But then again I have thoughts about waiting for the new 60gb model to come out, lol

This had occurred to me, and we have to remember that Gamestop also has to pay for property, upkeep, and employees. I still don't think they're feeling any impact, but these are things to consider with TIV Bonus vs. Used Price Coupons.
Damn it all, i did 12 games yesterday and was wondering why 2 didn't have the bonus...oh well.

When is it from though? Somebody reported a max of 30 or 20 I think, then they reduced it to 10.

Does anyone know if I can use BBV giftcards to pay for one of their total access plans? I rent a lot of movies with my girlfriend and we were thinking of getting the plan anyways, but now I have some GS credit I can move to BBV.

Yes you can.

Question to all of you who have traded EoJ. What did you do with the camera/mat/cards you had left? What kind of price do they go for on Ebay?

Hahaha dont make laugh about them having to pay employees. Do you know how much store managers get? Like $10.50 an hour. Asst Managers get freaking $7.50-8.50 an hour. Regular CSRs get whopping minimum wage. Its pathetic really.
Yes you can.

Well I kept one camera, gave the other to my buddy. I have 3 mats and 2 stands sitting here and I doubt they are worth anything so Im probably going to just chuck them. I MIGHT keep one stand since it does have a nifty slot for the camera but its angle downwards so I dont know.
Yes you can.

You actually got the camera and mat with yours? I've bought and flipped two from GS and neither had camera and cards, only one had the mat.
You actually got the camera and mat with yours? I've bought and flipped two from GS and neither had camera and cards, only one had the mat.
Its YMMV. Ive gotten 5 of them. 2 came with mats, stands, and cameras (both from the same store), 2 came with mats, 1 came with nothing. None of them came with cards.

They are SUPPOSED to take all of that in with the trade but obviously most dont.

It's not illegal, but Gamestop is NOT a non-profit business. They're clearly in business for the green. We're not contributing (not directly at least) to that goal. That means we're pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum. We're actually worse than total non-customers since we actually cost GS (and BB) money. Do you really think that any of the flippable games are actually going to sell and bring back money to GS? Just as another CAG said, it's highly possible that the customer might actually buy the game for less than GS paid for it. Not a good business tactic I might add.

I'm not trying to start anything here Ink, but GS has every right to target us and limit our ability to flip. They usually have most everything covered, but they didn't see BB's B1G1 (on already cheap games) a mile away. I'm pretty sure whoever does the cost effectiveness and related ratios for these deals is going to be thrown into the Boston Harbor with some ankle weights.

Did a final sweep at 3 Blockbusters today, was able to transfer most of my ....reditc to amestopg at a rofitp...Ixnay on otalst.
Ok, typing code is too confusing.

Tempted to make one last run south or north, pretty much hit everything to the west of me today within reason.
Hmmm
$70 in credit at BB * 1.6 = road trip saturday!

I know this belongs in the Deal Discussions under the Craigslist Idiots thread, but it pertains to the situation (Soldier of Fortune actually). Hope you guys could use a laugh.

Beanie Babies & More to Trade For Battlefield Bad Company (Anaheim)

Reply to: [email protected]
Date: 2008-07-16, 2:42PM PDT

I am looking to trade for two copies of Battlefield Bad Company PS3 game. I will trade all of the following stuff straight across + a copy of the PS3 Game Soldier of Fortune: PAYBACK. If you want to trade drop me a line.

Thanks

(Just so you guys know, this is the second edit of this craigslist post. The original post wanted a straight trade of Soldier of Fortune: Payback for Battlefield: Bad Company. :whistle2:#)
Do you really think that any of the flippable games are actually going to sell and bring back money to GS?
I think at a low price a lot of the liscensed games will sell during a b2g1 to to kids with parents in tow to buy.
There's a better chance of them buying a title they recognize, Spiderman, Pirates, and WWE 07, for $35 for all three if a b2g1 was on.
Much better chance of them selling those to casual gamers than Blacksite, Rockband(game only) TP, C..d..d2. Games that we buy.

to make this about Blockbuster and thus relevant to this thread.
Blockbuster in Freehold NJ today had a MGS4 PS3 bundle if anyone is looking.
yeah it can pay for anything, even food, soda, chips
Where on the blockbuster site can I input a gift card to pay for my total access? All i see is credit card options.
I now have $118 BB Credit and $83 GS Credit. Going to transfer over those $83 in to flippable games and then maybe I'll be done.
Youre doing it wrong.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, even though its a bit late

TIV @ BBV

X360 - World Championship Poker: All in = $12.00
PS3 - Madden 07 PS3 = $9.00
PS3 - NBA 07 PS3 = $6.00

while there the staff got excited to see DS's arrive but when they opened the box they were all Pink.. The manager commented that he's sure they'll be there awhile..

Yeah, I really had no idea. I was guessing it would be low, but I don't know much about the inner workings of GS. Figured it might be something to take into account, though.

Went to 3 GS, 1 Kmart, 1 TRU today looking for flippable games. Didnt find a damn thing.:bomb:

But managed to score 5 Mario Karts, 1 Wii, and 1 Wii Fit. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:
Even got the guy in electronics at TRU whos working on sunday to hold me 2 wiis (which he said they were getting on Sat but couldnt put out until Sunday) :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

I had EOJ, Time Crisis, and Blacksite x2 leftover. Went and traded those in. $36, $30, $33

Heh I mainly just said that because hes putting all his credit at BBV instead of putting all his credit at the better (for gaming) GS. ;)

Flipping is going great. Im working on almost being at a 12:1 of free credit to money invested. :D

Stopped at GS>BB>GS Not much really, found History channel, turning point, and blacksite (360).

history channel - $25 BB
Turning pt - $30 BB
blacksite 360 - $19 BB (originally got it for 17.99 - cpn and edge at GS, mispriced. Should have been 24.99)

They gs manager forgot to put in the blacksite disc, so I came back 5 min later and he just threw held out his arm with the disc. The ironic thing was that I was telling him of the GSs that suck, i.e. price errors and other dumb stuff and he said "Yeah some GS employees are just stupid." iiiironyyyy...

The manager at the 2nd GS that I'm friends with wasn't there but they recognized me. After I traded in my last 8 games, the other manager asked, "So what were you saving up for?", since week or so ago I said I was saving to get a psp, but I paid that off already, so I jsut said I got the psp, but I'll probably come back and pay off some preorders. He just said ok and I left.

forgot to add that I am DONE, at least until the b1g1 ends and this last coupon is gone.

I'm getting transfered next week, hooorrrrrayyyyy!!!! :whee:

I say horay since I've been working on call from 4:30-6:30 am to 1:30 -3:30+pm now I'm in garden grove, 2:30pm to 11pm. Way better in my opinion. Same work but new place and better hours. I've got XXX GS credit and a little bit of BB credit, so I am happy, got my psp paid, and all is well. Life is good...

And that kid that comes in GS everyday was there again, every time I;ve gone he's there so I guess it is everyday he comes in. He just plays on the 360 set up with guitar hero all day.

I was at a gamestop today(they had mario kart wii and wii fit) and some genious was in there trading in games from blockbuster with the price stickers on them and still in about 2-3 blockbuster bags. He then proceeded to get like 5 copies of area 51 for ps3 off the shelf and some other stuff.

Glad I am done with my flipping as I believe I was able to to stay under the radar of being an obvious flipper(especially with the stories of some of you guys getting banned from trading).

ohhhh, forgot to add, I had a GS hold the last Blacksite in the 15 mile area of me.

If anyone wants the name its held under pm me.

Its at the santa ana GS, on Grand and 17th.

also down the street, the BB there put some more games out. I cleaned them out fairly good, but some games remain, tony hawk PG I left for sure. Conan, a few others, but no huge hauls.
why dont you just tell the GS to no longer hold it.
I'd rather a cag get it than someone else. no leechers...

nice ratio. And please dont me thats all GS credit because you can easily double GS credit to BB credit for a 24:1.

as a question, does anyone know if BB will get the madden psp, the blue one? If so I'd sort of regret transferring all my credit to GS. I asked at 3 stores but none knew what I was talking about.

I found Tony Hawks: Proving Ground for the Wii at my local Blockbuster for $9.99. I think they made the prices of Wii/PS3 games lower. TH:pG for the Wii trades in at $10.50 after EDGE + Bonus. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and checking out the rest of the games. I was kind of in a rush so I only looked at the 360 games. That specific Wii game just happened to be bunched up with all the 360 games.

Where was this? This cracks me up. Some genius is smart enough to read this thread but not smart enough to remove stickers.
