Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Guitar Hero On Tour

Shit, 36? I thought their high was 35. I guess finding a deal on this game is better than it seems at first sight :hot:

If you read the thread OP you'd know it was $36...

IO, just in case you wanted to add it to the first post, one of my non-gr blockbusters had Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution as one of the new games available for sale.

The OP is there for a reason...

I can confirm that my location is going to be open Tuesday at midnight (ie 1 minute after 11:59pm Monday) for the Soul Calibur 4 release. It's a non-GR location, so maybe this will be company wide for stores that got a lot of pre-orders.

I'm cleaing out my closet and I found bags of receipts from 2006 flips. Resident Evil 4 GC, Echo Night: Beyond, Kuon & Killzone. Nostalgia is pretty fun.
True, the glory days are probably over (for now). No doubt, I was spoiled by the $10 promo, we all were. I agree the current PS2 BBV--->GS flip makes money, I guess I have enough credit @ both places to last for a year at least. Hopefully something profitable to exploit, with less running around than the current PS2 flip, will present itself in the coming months. In the interest of full disclosure, I am wrapping-up my last flip, where I spent $50 in cash to convert to $115 in BBV Credit. Granted, I had to spend $50 @ Best Buy (5 copies of Octomania), but the $65 profit took all of 20 minutes and less than a gallon of gas. I'll take the convenience of a 2.3x return and using cash, over a 1.8x return which takes time and gas. Probably not an approach for everyone on this board, but I'm fine with it, plus I actually have time for playing games;)
Ok, a good CAG will admit when he's wrong. It apprears I was premature with my initial low opinion of the current PS2 flip strategy from BBV to GS. I had to go to Home Depot for some domesticated stuff, and on my way I passed two BBVs. Well...........................................there I was staring @ a bunch of PS2 garbage asking myself do I really want to do this. 35 PS2 & 1 PSP flips later, the answer should be clear. I won't bore you with specifics, but I used $152 of BBV credit on the 36 games and turned it into $264 of GS credit, a 1.73 ratio. Not bad CAGS, I'm actually glad you pointed-out the error in my thinking. I thought it would take forever to build credit with this flip, but I wound-up hitting 4 BBVs and 6 GSs in about 4 hours. Most of that time was in stores, not driving.

A couple of misc observations. Everything returned what Io has posted on the 1st page, I will confirm Tony Hawk PG for the PS2 does return $8.40 (when using full 40% bonus). In my travels I did pass another Best Buy, picked-up 2 more Octomanias for $21, quickly converted to $46 @ one of the BBVs. Even though I've spent $100 on 10 copies of this turd from Best Buy, turning it into $230 has been one of the easiest flips I can recall. It can't beat FF:RoSS $4 -->$30 (nothing ever will), but it's been a solid producer for me.

Bought and traded in Octomania for $23 today. Also, saw that my local BB did a reorganization of the games, and converted many rentals to used games. They also had DS Lites for sale and that LE Dark Knight poster that keeps saying Buy Me:lol: Have yet to be able to find a Eye of Judgement in my area...

Ok... went to Best Buy and picked up Octomania. Traded at GR for:

Octomania (wii): $23

Along with a movie. Picked up through B1G1 free Gun + Call of Duty 3 (360) for $15 to keep, Shrek the 3rd + Conker (360\Xbox) for $10 to trade.

Traded at Gamestop (base values shown - all 360\xbox)

Shrek the 3rd: $5
Conker: $5
Incredible Hulk UD: $2
Doom 3: $2.50
Run Like Hell: "couldn't take"(????) told TIV was 25 cents

Got $18.85 in credit altogether - $18 went towards some decent and not so decent B2G3 DVDs...

Any changes in TIVs?

Out of all the flippable games we only have Octomania confirmed to hold it's TIV.

I'll be buying a couple of flippable games tomorrow and trading them in so I'll try and confirm a couple of games.

So has anyone found any definite proof of TIV's being changed nationwide on Sunday? The only time I've seen anything differing than usual was that guy who only got $13-16 for RSV2 when it was still worth $33.

Woot, got myself 8 Fatal Inertia's & 1 Kane & Lynch off of eBay for a total of $93 shipped. Heres hoping that the values don't change.

TIV at Gamestop:
PS2-
Cars (Mater-national) - 6.00
Manhunt 2 - 6.00
Bee Movie - 6.00
Spyro - 6.00

I was just wondering if i reserve madden 09, do i get the 20% and the 30% from the promo+edge? cuz the gamestop guy just gave me the 20% extra since i put the trades toward madden.

You were supposed to get the 30%+10%.

They guy just wanted to get a preorder. I remember a while back during the $10 bonus the guy at GS was trying to push a NCAA preorder on me, promosing that I would get the 20% bonus on top of the $10. Well, it didnt work as expected. You should really go back down and try to get it adjusted.
Went around and picked up a few titles. Risked some credit on some unknowns and, although I found a couple new flips, suffered a loss. Sucks because there was a Spyro and a Nicktoons game I could've grabbed to replace the two stinkers.

PS2
Barnyard $9.99 -> $8.40
Front Mission 4 $6.99 -> $1.20
SLAI (Steel Lancer Alliance International or some crap) $9.99 -> $2.10
Spiderman Friend or Foe $9.99 -> $8.40

XBOX
Star Wars KOTOR II $9.99 -> $8.40
it's risk takers like you who serve the entire CAG community!:applause:
You were supposed to get the 30%+10%.
Actually based on the post they would only have gotten the 20%+10% for the 4 games to get what you stated they would have had to trade-in 5 or more.

Didn't notice the 4 games only part. Just make sure that if you pre-order a game they give you the 40%. There are stores that try to screw you over by giving you the 20% "power trade" deal instead of the current 10/20/30.

Dancing with the Stars and Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkachi 3 (I think that's all the words) both held at $30. Trying to find some new games that trade even at a 1:1 ratio at this point because my BBVs are overrun with these PS2 titles and I've traded in most of the PS3 games on the list and Octomania at every Blockbuster and am quickly running out of places to trade these two titles. It's getting pretty bad without a good coupon and I find myself running around to Gamestops with crumpled up copies of the e-mail sign up 10% off coupon when I make purchases. To a flipper that's probably as low as giving BJs for coke.

On a side note, Gamestop added used listings for Grid, Unreal Tournament III, Operation Darkness, and Alone in the Dark on their website. I've seen Alone in the Dark at all my local Gamestops already, but the other three I had to go over into Jersey to find. Sadly, the Grid was disc only, but the other two were mint/complete. Flipped enough today to make up for the purchase +$20. I'm trying to keep my Gamestop credit at $600 and am just buying games with the profit I make now since the "saving for a PS3" story won't work for long on the junior detectives if I keep getting more credit.

Ok, I got 5 more games to trade in at GS, and $17 in BB credit. I'm just gonna get 2 360 games so i can use my $15 bonus coupon and thats it. It seems like it is getting harder to get BB credit so I'll just lay low until GS has another coupon or deal than can bring us some BB credit, but by then the b1g1 will probably be over or they'll be cleaned out. I just dont wanna spend out-of-pocket money to keep satisfying my flip cravings, better to just step away with what I got atm.
How much does BBV take in Zelda:TP for the cube?
prob not a lot since they sell used for 14.99 you might as well go to gs since their tiv is 15

ok looks like Octomania is getting $23. Stopped by one of the BB's I never been to today. Damn employee didn't know wtf she was doing. This is the 2nd blockbuster that has declined my trade in. They said "we only take trade in's to where your account was signed up for." I asked the manager inside the specific BB and he said the same thing.

haha, that happened to me twice, but I had them call the original store and got it cleared up. Just have them call the store you originally signed up at.

That's why you lie and say you want to set up an account. You have to act oblivious to the whole trading in thing so they can explain it to you in simpler terms. Then, for the first trade-in, take credit on the account. For the second, come in when there are different staff and then hand them your value card and tell them the other people that work there gave it to you to use. After that, you're all set.

What pissed me off was when I asked for the TIV she took the disk without even looking at the condition and it and wiped it a few times across her BB shirt. Giving it a few marks. I was asking for the TIV not trading the damn game in! :bomb:

Oh geez I love when they think rubbing it on a polo shirt will help clear it up. I've had more than a couple employees attempt that. Now I just make sure I wipe the games off before I had them in to be traded.

just fyi...Octomania - $23...Eye of Judgment - $36 :whistle2:D all BBV TIVs of course!

and in case anyone is interested..just saw that :360: Blue Dragon went down to $16.99 USED at BBV :whistle2:D

Eye of Judgment finally got a used page! WOOT!

It costs $24 with the 10% off coupon + EDGE. Camera trades in for $11. Actual costs is $13. 2.76 ratio :).

Now, if only I could find the thread for the 10% off coupon.

Online it says comes with camera, so... If you order it online shouldn't it come with the camera? If you buy it in store, you very rarely get the camera. With tax comes out to $24.43l with saver+cag16+edge, so a bit cheaper online. In store it'll cost ~ $25.85. Adn you can use credit online as well.

Plus if it comes and you dont want it, return at any GS, so cant lose IMO.

its free, since the original item is $29.99, I just tried, total comes out to $24.43 Choose the shipping method that costs $0.00.

wow, that was fast, hopefully it comes back though.

does fatal inertia still get a lot at BB, or any other games available at gamestop.com that still get good tiv at BB

I'm thinking of ordering some of the games I haven't traded at BB yet, and hoping they come by the time the b1g1 sale ends. Like, fatal inertia, PS3 history channel, and that poker game. MAybe others too, since you can return stuff in store, whats to lost if you're paying with edge credit.

Anyone have confirmation that it ends 8/4? I work at Blockbuster and we got an email saying tomorrow was the last day. Also, try to make friends with employees. They can use their 20% off discount for you. There are alot of $16.99 games for the Wii, and 360 and when employees scan them it goes down to $13.79 which enables the B1G1 deal. I just bought a bunch of Wii, and 360 games using this. I wasn't sure if the discount would count for it but it worked.

so looks like as long as the original value before edge and all is over $25 via online then it's good to go with free shipping, nice!

I tried it with fatal inertia, same thing since it was $24.99.

Ok, I just ordered Blacksite ps3 and Fatal inertia from GS.com. $40.70 with tax, edge credit

We'll see what happens, if either the tiv at Bb goes down by the time I get them or the b1g1 ends, I'll just return them.
Blast Works (Wii) has dropped to $9.99 at Best Buy.
Dammit :bomb:.

See, this is why I'm hesitant to pay anything near full price for games even in cheap BB or GS credit! WTF!? At least I paid the $29.99 BB price (before they raised it back up) and not the $39.99 original retail. But man, I'm not buying anything except Nintendo first party titles at full price any more...
