The CAG Fund for the Child's Play Charity - [Gifts Purchased!]

Hey Cheapy....I'll put in my match Saturday just so you know. My matching is closed. Provided I have the cash flow, I will be matching what has been contributed up to this point (beyond $1K). So in other words, provided the funds, $495 is the match.

Nice work everyone! Glad to see people put up some dough. :applause:
how often does the goal chart update? Its been at $1495 and 70 number of payments since last night before I donated.
There are about $250 in donations that are still processing...nice job!

Holy shit chickenhawk I knew you were matching to a certain limit, but $495 is freaken incredible. Looks like we're going to beat last year by a lot. Way to go CAG! :D

I'll run the raffle as soon as Cheapy closes the fund.
Finally got off my lazy ass and donated.

EDIT: Even after my massive contribution of $20 (which hopefully will go towards another copy of Katamari for Texas Children's Hospital), we're still $500 short of our goal.

That can't happen.
We have maybe 24 hours or so before Cheapy has to close the donations account, and I'll be damned if he's gonna have to look at a number under $2k as he's doing it.

And, even if you miss the deadline, buy something off the wishlists. I understand if you're on a budget (I was this time last year, and regrettably was unable to donate), but there's plenty of stuff on there under $10. Keep in mind that some of the kids there are perhaps too young to really enjoy games, so buy them some books. Remember those little Golden books you read as a kid? Those are like $3.50. Buy a couple of those.

Contribute something. Buy something. Anything. Contributing anything at all makes you a bonafide goddamn Hero to these kids.

Now, do it up.
Led's right guys. I just threw in $20. I know it isn't much, but every little bit helps.

Donate!

Glad to do it...admittedly, I am not a big charity giver. I give a little here and there, but nothing too major. This is the only exception the last couple years.

Well, I gotta check my CC balance before I contribute the full $495. ;) It should be close, if not the whole $495.

Odd....still at $1,495. I haven't even received any kind of email confirmation of my donation(s). I can see them on my order page though on Amazon. :whistle2:?

I think Cheapy might have to accept them, I made a second donation and I didn't recieve and email either.

just gave again since it's still sitting at 1495.

I'm just curious, does anybody know if amazon is giving cheapy a deal on the items he's picking out? Seems like they should be giving him a discount instead of full retail at least. Profiting off sick kids sounds wrong to me. Maybe I missed that tidbit of info or something.

I'd like to donate some this to this benefit. I have a nintendogs lunchbag and a dreamcast game or two I wouldn't mind donating. If whoever is in charge of this wouldn't mind me doing this, go ahead an PM me.

Are the DC games sealed? I'm pretty sure they can't take used stuff, hygiene concerns and all.

Whoops, I appear to have posted in the wrong thread. My fault.

I called up Amazon and hopefully they will have the problem (with payments still processing) sorted out today. Its not too late to give!

While I'm waiting for amazon to sort this out, We are going to have about $160+ for each hospital listed in the OP. I'm thinking a DS and a game or two would make sense...your thoughts?

maybe some mario party bundles, so they can play with friends, they might come with two controllers too

I might not be able to get the Mario Party Bundle because its sold out on the Amazon website...perhaps the Mario Kart DS bundle?
looks like the money went through, 2,353. Beat last year, huzzah!
Yup...finally! There are actually 18 hospitals in the USA which is about $130 per hospital. I would get the DS Mario Kart bundle for every USA hospital if they would just add it to their wish lists (I've emailed my contact at PA) as I can't send it if its not on the list.

cheapy, just curious if you had to make another sizeable donation from CAG or is this all members?

No, I donated $500 to their charity dinner but the $2,353 on the Amazon page is all from CAGs (AFAIK $500 of that from chickenhawk). If PA goes ahead and adds the Mario Kart DS Bundles to all the wishlists, I'll make up the extra $350 difference or so to make sure all the US hospitals get one.

Glad to see those payments finally come through. It was getting depressing seeing it just sit at $1495 even though I knew it was more. :applause: to everyone who donated or helped in their own way!

if you end up doing this, please post that you are. I would throw in a few more bucks to try and help you out (pretty sure a few others would as well)
$2,353 BC (Before Cheapy) is freakin' awesome. Great job everybody!
Awesome!

I've been meaning to donate some money to the Children's Hospital and figured this would help out. Glad to be apart of something great. You realy do an awesome job Cheapy.

I have a customer who has a child with cancer. I showed him the print out from the childs play website (posted it up at work) and it looked like it him with a ton of bricks. "The first thing he asks for when he goes in is 'When can i play my gameboy?' " I donated a little bit, and i think he spread the word around a little bit more.
Nice to see it going over so well.

Did anyone see that Penny Arcade raise $82,100 at their dinner/auction. Last year they raised just over $17,000. Those are some great guys to do this for charity.

It's nice that we improved on last year's donations, but we can still do better.

I'm dumbfounded by some of the retards on this site who can't chip in a small amount to help some deserving kids. But they have no problem throwing down $80 for the first 10 episodes of Super Kaiyazaki Keyboard Masters of the Blood Sword Chronicles Unite Red Ribbon Stories of the Heart DVD Collector's Edition.

Alternative Lifestyle Individualists.
I agree with the above statement, minus the "Fags" part.
Better?

Anyway, I propose that we shoot for an Xbox 360 at every hospital next year. We've already got the active userbase to do it, by next year CAG will be even larger. Here's to hoping.

2005 Update
This year we collected over $2400 from the CAG Community. In addition, CAG Productions threw in $500 towards Penny-Arcade's Charity Dinner (which went on to raise $87,000) and another $400+ so that we could afford to buy each of the 18 US hospitals a Nintendo DS Mario Kart Bundle (pics).

Thanks to all the CAGs who contributed to this years effort.

dude I love that show, its the best. We raised close around 800 more than last year, which is good. Hopefully if this is done every year, we will raise more each year. Good work everyone though.

I love this guys. It's helping people who really need help, and it shows gamers are not just antisocial violent people like some of the media likes to portray.
