Is anyone interested in doing a webcast/podcast in preparation for this thing? I have a few ideas but I'm not exactly up to snuff on the technical side of things.

It's nice to know that it's coming soon..but still.
Wish we knew how exactly this worked under certain circumstances.
Is there a way for someone to refuse the gift? Thus, having your points sent back
What if they HAVE the game?

I think it's a problem when someone HAS the game..and they don't inform you of this.
But then, I guess if you know someone and you're sending them a gift..you WOULD know if they have it or not. This is why we NEED to list the games we have here if we are going to do the Secret Santa.. but that's mah 2 pennies

I'm thinking about doing a raffle for everyone involved in the SSP via live podcast and where the winner would get a VC game. 20 minutes or so. A 5 minute manifesto from The Mana Knight for shits & giggles. That's all pretty much.

Nintendo took care of that - you can't buy a game someone already owns. No such lists are necessary! :)

It is an issue, however, if the games that people get are available on their other systems. I see it as a good present all the same, because you can play it on the Wii now... The only real "issue" is OoT, since it runs ever so nicely on the GameCube... But mark my words - since I was the one that talked the most about OoT business, I probably will end up getting it.


A few days ago, I saw a post by JOLLYDWARF. He had a Santa hat in his avatar. I entertained the idea as to what I would get if he was my Secret Santa. And what he would get if I was his. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, "man, people that have each other on ignore should never be forced to buy each other presents." - you can quote me on that one, Zen...

I can help with the technical side - at least as far as answering questions go - my brain is pretty much maxed out when it comes to ideas - the joys of having a infant at home :lol:

Starting this week, Wii Shop Channel patrons can use a new Gifting feature to send games to other Wii owners with whom they've traded Friend Codes. It's an easy and inexpensive way to give your fellow Nintendo buffs the gift of a classic game—no wrapping paper required. And don't worry about duplication. If your friend already has the game you're trying to give, you'll get a simple message and be bumped back into the catalog to continue shopping.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets.

That IS a good question. But the thing is.. I know different regions have different points value. I might be wrong, but I think Genesis games cost 600 points, and some for 700 points, in Japan. This may not mean anything, but still.

Plus there are games we have Japan doesn't, and they have games Europe don't, and Europe has games that we don't..ETC ETC ETC.

I don't know if they would go through all that work..LOL
BUT..who knows. We will have to see/experiment!

All good points. At the very least I hope we can send games that have been released in all of those territories. I have family and friends in Australia who I'd love to gift some games to.
 
I had pretty much given up on this actually coming out in time too. I'm glad Nintendo got it out before Christmas.
 
Ya know.. this is sorta off topic, but not completely because it's on the topic of the Gifting feature.
I wonder if Cheapy will allow some of us (obviously those that choose so) to have this be one of the prizes in the Child's Play thing. Get a few of us to donate "Any single VC game of your choice". I'd love to help out, and I'm sure there's a few others who have some extra points. If we can get a few of us to do this.. it'll help that raffle out even more, IMO :)
 
Are entries in to this Secret Santa exchange closed? I just started up a Secret Santa VC topic and someone redirected me here. I'd really like to get in on this too. If it's closed, I guess I'll go ahead and keep my topic open to so that those of us "last minute shoppers" can still have an exchange.

If I read the release right, you won't be able to gift someone a game they already have. The shop won't let you.
 
I wonder if you don't have enough blocks for the game(s). If somehow they will say "(name) does not have the proper amount of blocks needed"..lol

OR, if you can get the game.. BUT they will tell you that YOU need to get rid of some games to make more before you can download..

Being that I now have 86 blocks left..LOL :whistle2:(

Let me sort a couple of things out and we should be good to go for the Secret Santa as soon as this weekend, or if the community wants to wait closer to Christmas, post here and give me some feedback!

So wait a sec...by this weekend it'll be live?!

Haven't been keeping up with when it'll actually be out, so yea...

Anyways, if possible let's shoot for Christmas Day imo best day to give a gift

and just how many points are we gunna use (before it was discussed around 1500-1600)

It's going to be live tonight. The actual option to send someone a gift, that is.

I'd say we have this set up on the weekend. This way, we have an idea of who we are sending the game(s) to..but I'd say let there be a period where games have to be sent out..like "Between the 23rd-25th" or.. something really close to Christmas.
