Ok folks....I see a need for this. I also think it should be kept up over time so I will do my best to update as, well updates come in. I am going to add only CHEAP games that are PO and can be used for trade-in deals. When I say cheap I am talking around $7 or less. This is so even if a buy 2 get 1 free deal isn't going on you can still get a deal on a new game. I realize that prices will vary from store to store so it is YMMV but it will give people options to check their own stores. I will post what I used and where I got them and for what price. Please do the same. There are always trade-in deals at EB so this could be worthwhile.
Don't forget your gift reciepts!
this thread has been labeled highly unethical.

its one thing to buy games with the intent to trade them in towards a promotion but another thing to return those games to beat a promotion. All this accomplishes is EB doing away with good trade-in promotions.

and by the way, Enter the Matrix for PS2 doesn't work.

Not sure why you are all up in arms about this being unethical....people have already mentioned they have returned games without a gift receipt with no problems. It doesn't say anything on the receipt that you can't return a trade-in game for credit or something else anyway. Once you trade your games in for their game you own it...its yours and if you want to return it then you should be able to. If you can give me some hard copy proof this is unethical please show me and I will change my view.

Worked as of 3-27

Oh shut up. There's nothing wrong with this. Obviously if there was, EB wouldn't be accepting the returns. They're not like a Walmart that doesn't care - if they thought they were getting screwed they'd shut this down immediately.

EB will never do away with good trade-in promotions, so stop your bellyaching.

Besides, this thread is needed as there are plenty of other trade in deals that require only PO games and have nothing to do with the PSP game offer.

Removed gift receipt comment for the sake of this being a worthwile thread. I don't want it to be ruined for people who want to take advantage of current trade-in deals. Since EB does do this every single month with different games I see it as being helpful rather than hurtful. But then again some people even think buying cheap games and trading them in is unethical which we all know is completely legit.

That is a great list! Maybe you can give me the handful that you can verify? Mainly because as we know games go from PO to POX rather quickly I would rather try to keep it as current as possible.

Im going to move this to deal discussion, since this is more of a general type of thing and not a specific sale or deal.

Did these yesterday.

GC:
Crash WOC
Metroid
R Racing

PS2:
Black and Bruised
Bloodrayne
Hitman Contracts
Resident Evil Veronica

you dont even belong on this site with dumb comments like this, the deal is set up for trade ins so what the ************ are you talking about?

RavenHawk: Jampack 11 no longer works.

BestBuy $5 each (after $5 off PS2 games coupon):

Cabela's Big Game Hunter
Strike Force Bowling
Metal Arms
Conflict: Desert Storm

I haven't personally tried any of them, but they don't show up on the exclusions list on EB's website.
umm.. PO means Pre-Owned right?
If so, I didn't know TRU sold PO games.
TRU does not sell pre-owned games. PO and POX are different classifications that EB gives to games that get traded in. PO games can be used for promotional trades (such as 3 for 1 or 5 for 1), but POX games are eXcluded from such promotions.

ah... thanks for the explanation guessed. Makes much more sense now =P

They'll take in sealed games as 'pre-owned' value as well. You could always just unwrap the game (but then couldn't return it to the original place if it became excluded). :).

I'm sure EB employees know about that anyway. Just be careful about sealed PO games at EB - they may have been sealed outside of being new. I got burned by a PO game that was completely sealed up only to find the game scratched to pieces. I even asked to open it in the store and @$$ clerk wouldn't let me do it. I gladly took it right back and got a refund since they guaranty the games to work and this one didn't. I wish I could've gotten gas money back, too... :whistle2:D

The X-Box version works, right? I was wondering about this...

The XBOX Bad Boys should be PO since it sells for $17.99 used at EB. But the coupon to get $5 off it at Best Buy will NOT work since it has to be a PS2 or PSP game.

Thanks! My brain wasn't registering that the coupons are PS2/PSP specific, despite having used it on a couple of occasions already for PS2 games.

Something I noticed at my local EB today that I've never noticed before - games that come in disk only and they have to manually print a cover for it (you know, the generic cover that says the name of the game on the front and that's basically it) will list if its PO or POX right there on the cover.

So if someone was so inclined, they could go to EB, sit there and browse through all the disc only game cases in the preowned section, and find which ones say "PO" on them and are really cheap. Combine that with your Edge card and you could basically go from one EB to another getting cheap PSP games.

I can verify that Enter the Matrix for PS2 worked as recently as April 3rd. I used 2 of them in the PSP deal just yesterday!

Also, don't forget Cubix (PS2/GC - $5.99) from Blockbuster.

Thanks for the help guys....I sorted this out by game system and then by store. Also this list is mainly so people can go out and buy these games to trade-in. Please don't list just what worked for you. It needs to have a price attached with it. Adding Robocop and Cubix. Thanks.

My TRU has Hitman 2 for PS2 for $4.98, and I've been sucessfully using that as trade fodder throughout this deal.

I can see BB becoming a problem in this thread is it Block Buster or Best Buy?
apologies... i listed Blockbuster as BB. I have no Best Buy games on the list.
fivecardstud,

I wasnt saying that directly at you. Your list has been the best so far!

Maybe the OP should make a key right now so people know how to word things ahead of time.
fivecardstud,

That is why I spelled out all the stores.

Ok I alphabetized the stores under each game system for easy viewing. Fivecardstud thank you for the big list. I added the games that were $7 or under. I just feel that if something is say $10 then it isn't really a deal on say trade 5 get a $50 dollar game. I realize it would be good for the buy 2 get 1 free sales but I would like to keep this list to an all the time go to the store grab this this and this for a trade-in rather than be deal specific. THANKS FOR ALL THE UPDATES KEEP EM COMING.

I hate that this thread was moved in here. I don't normally browse this forum, and I always forget where it is. It's also sticky worthy, IMO.

Does anyone know if EB has any 3 for 1 deals on PS2, Xbox or GC games? I know they've got it on the PSP games, but all their site has for the consoles is deals that have expired. Plus I tried to call the local EB and the prick on the phone hung up on me when asking.

word on the street (other trade in forum) is that bombastic just went POX. if this is true it might be bad news, I just traded it in on saturday. Perhaps an exclusion list revision is underway.

Question - Room Zoom isn't on the POX list on their website. Anyone know if it works or not?

It it does, its only $9.90 at Fry's new.
Question - Room Zoom isn't on the POX list on their website. Anyone know if it works or not?

Last I heard, it still worked. Haven't tried it myself though. It should also still net you $26.00 at FYE if you traded it in there.

I'm going to try trading in Aquaman (XB) and WTA Tennis (PS2) tomorrow. Ordered both for $4.99 BC from EB's web site, and they just arrived today. I think WTA Tennis has since rose to $7.99 though, probably due to increased demand from this deal.

-DM

The Hobbit - Ps2 ($7.99) at Eb isn't -pox, neither is BloodRayne 1 for ps2

Basically, I walked into my local Eb, bought 3x $7.99 games(after getting them to test that they worked for the deal) and then traded them back in and got Wipeout Pure for $25.. not bad, imho. I did the deal two more times with games from blockbuster ($15 for both, Siphon Filter: Omega Strain and Ace Combat 4, with their buy 1 get one half off deal) and some of my old ps2 games and I got ape escape and twisted metal: head on. All in all, I spent $65 cash and got $120 worth of psp games.. not bad. I could have gotten better if I went to best buy, but I didn't count on them to have a coupon.

jkam,

Two things... Cubix is available NEW at Blockbuster for $7.99 in my area. That has also been verified to work. So if you cant find it used it might be in the new section.

Secondly the TOYS R US games are pretty rare to come by now. That sale was two months ago or more are people still finding them?
Secondly the TOYS R US games are pretty rare to come by now. That sale was two months ago or more are people still finding them?
None of the TRU stores in my area have had anything for months now.
