is there any significance to one going clockwise vs. the other going counterclockwise? i dunno why but i think that would make a difference.

Ah, now I remember. It's called the Koru. I had to check my book of symbols.

Chika: No, since they were mostly used in decorative jewelry which could be flipped either way, it doesn't matter which way it turns.

What's interesting is that a lot of symbols for life actually mean immortal or everlasting life.

You probably think that because they're side by side. With them being side by side, like that, your mind thinks that one is going in reverse, in relation to the other -- one is spiraling inward; one is spiraling outward.

I did hear a theory once that having it go one way meant life and the other way meant death, and Maori warriors used to tattoo their weapon holding hands with the death symbol. I'm not sure how true that is since it was told to me by a professor, and he seemed to talk about of his ass at times. I've tired to research it but couldn't find anything.

So I just started Memento- I'm at the point where he's getting to info from Natalie.

This looks like it will get very confusing.

Stop at Virginia Beach. There's a lot of inexpensive fun to be had there. Can't say where to eat though, since every time I go I pretty much eat all my meals out of the 7-Eleven.

i do remember something to that effect. i spent some time in Rotura, NZ a few years back and we went to the maori cultural center. then again, i had INSANE jetlag for about a week of the trip and things are kinda fuzzy. that, coupled with the fact that i was vegetarian at the time (in NZ of all places) lead me to be fairly hungry and light-headed most of the time. they just don't get what vegetarian means. they would serve us a meal of only veggies and they were cooked in and dripping with pork fat

all you need to know is wafflehouse. that is all.
Memento:

WTF? the colored parts are backwards but the B&W are forwards. God I'm confused.

don't try to understand the first time. just watch it. once you get to the end things will start to make sense and you'll need to watch it again.

wtf?! my dog has one of her back feet in her mouth. and she's asleep. it's like she's sucking her thumb, but not.

Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2 on Spike tonight. I've heard mixed things about them, but I've never seen any of the newer ones, so i might actually watch them.

It used to. I saw Double Dare filmed there and I partook in auditions. I even have a picture of me standing next to Marc Summers. :whee:
You're in for a real treat
I think people treat episodes 1-3 unfairly because of the success of the 3 earlier ones. Sure the special effects are a bit much, but it still seems like a good science fiction movie.

what do i want for my birthday dinner? now that i can eat again, i want something tasty. the only catch is that since frosty has the flu now, i gotta be able to order it to go. also, there are no indian or mexican places within a realistic take-out distance.

I know! I was there before.. but it's NOT there anymore!! This is what I'm suicidal about

Pizza is amazing for birthdays and for sick people.

My main three problems with eps 1-3:

3. CGI is bad and it's everywhere
2. Too much minutia of politics
1. The acting/dialogue is laughably bad .. especially noticeable in scenes w/ Hayden Christensen*

*He's great in Shattered Glass though

You have his name backwards. His name is Hayden Christensen. But I agree with you. His performances in II and III are some of the worst acting to ever be caught on film.

noice. thnx. that's the most anyone's made for me this year. it's the big 2-5 ya know.
You would.
It's still a bit too hard for my taste. I end up having to go that spirit world a handful of times in every room.
The Mist is pretty good so far. I wish we could watch it without so many damn interruptions though.
I'm a big Stephen King fan. I've been wanting to see that and 1408.

Memento.

So was it true that Shelby's wife was the diabetic and that story about the other memory loss guy was just made up?

That reminds me of the time one of my wonderful students blew his top over a broken pen. He got it as a reward and he took it apart and couldn't put it back together again. He went crazy. I had to come in and calm him down. Not quite as insane as that kid but still disturbing nonetheless.

Lilboo, if you happen to pass a Cracker Barrel, go there instead of Wafflehouse. You'll thank me when you're in a pancake food coma.

Take a left at Georgia and bring me some too. Closest one to me is in Arizona.
