I guess now that it's May sweeps week, while alot of television shows are having season finales, some are actually having series finales. I know of -

The West Wing - Nothing to say, I never watched it.

That 70's Show - Which is good, this show dragged on for too long.

Malcolm in the Middle - Total surprise, but Fox really dicked this show around with shitty time slots.

7th Heaven - Apparently it costs too much to keep making more episodes.

I know there has to be more... I think The OC is one that they aren't sure if it's coming back or not. Apparently Smallville and Charmed might also get the axe.

I think Joey got cancelled.
Invasion isn't decided yet either.
7th Heaven is over.
Will and Grace is over.
Alias is over.
Charmed is over.

Something always comes along to fill the void though so don't worry about it.

Heist is ending too.

Something may come along to fill the gap, but alot of comedies these days aren't really up to the quality (imo) of Malcolm in the Middle, or old 70's Show episodes.

I mean, War at Home sucks, and so does that George Lopez show.

I'm amazed that King of Queens has lasted for 8 seasons and is apparantly going to go for some more.
The 24 and Prison Break seasons are almost over. Nuff. Sed.
Yea, but those are getting renewed... this thread is mostly for shows getting the axe and coming to a close for good.

You aren't watching the right shows!

The Office is the best comedy to come along since Seinfeld. Entourage, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother and Curb Your Enthusiasm are awesome and even Two and a Half Men is pretty funny. There's lots of good stuff out there... you're just not watching it! :D

I'm aware. I'm just making a point about how after each season ends, it is like the season's done for good. Another year we have to wait....:(

Invasion has been picked up for another season. Did fine in its first season and they were even airing re-runs. Really picks up int he fourth eppisode. Charmed was semi-decent, but has always kind of sucked and is getting canned. 7th Heaven, who cares crap. Will and Grace, who cares crap. Alias, sad to see it go but it's time has come. Joey, Crap. That 70's Show had 1-1.5 seasons that weren't bad. other than that crap. War at home sucks and will be canned soon. Count on it. George Lopez is actually decent. West Wing, see enough politics and read enough about it that I don't need a damn show to watch. Malcolm is really the only show I'm sad to see go. I liked it, but the last few seasons were top quality I must admit.

Well, I just now got HBO again, but isn't Curb Your Enthuiasm ending too? I remember Larry David wasn't sure if he wanted to do more episodes or not.

Scrubs I watch on DVD since the time slot changed so much I lost track of it. And yea, The Office is funny.

None of these are tradtional family oriented sitcoms though, which are lacking. It seems every good one that comes along gets axed, and we're stuck with shit like that Jim Belushi garbage.

I think Malcolm in the Middle was probably the last, great, family oriented sitcom, along with Arrested Development.

Thief apparently got horrid ratings and will probably (or is it definitely) not be back. That's the only one I actually watch that got canned that I know of.

I used to watch Charmed but stopped for some reason about 2 seasons ago.

With a lot of shows I watch for a bit and then it turns sour IMO and I give it up. 24 just got so ridiculous in season 2 or 3 that I stopped watching and haven't given it another shot since. Prison Break could go that way if they try to string it along too far, but I'm still enjoying it for now. The non-combat segments on The Unit tend to be semi-ridiculous, but the action stuff is good enough to keep me with it for now as well.

a 7 to 8 month wait on 24 is worse than it being cancelled. With cancellation, we know it's never coming back.
I really Hope veronica mars isn't cancelled.
I really need to watch that show - is there a DVD set of the first season?

What do you mean? I don't watch 24 on the television, so do you mean a 7 to 8 month wait on a new season, or a 7 to 8 month on them to even confirm a new one is there?

Because, cmon, 24 is Fox's big money maker, of course it will come back.

With Prison Break not too far behind.

Yeah, it's on sale for 22.99 at Target. I'll probably buy the 2nd season when it's released.

Didn't that sale end? It's not listed in the ad for this week.

Looking through back ads, that sale was only from 4 / 23 - 4 / 29 unless Target made it one of those month long ongoing sales they do.

The O.C isn't done. There is a good possibity the brown haired lead girl won't be back.

Heist is done, and I have not heard that king of queens is coming back, with the way the show has been this year, and the amount the stars want per episode it doesn't look good. Too bad about thief, I hadn't read that they weren't going to not be renewed, I know they only had ordered 6 episodes originally. I really liked the show. What about Brian was entertaining, but I don't think it will be coming back. Smallville is coming back, but aquaman might not make it out like was reported.. West wing had run its course. Too bad the shows got decent again, and they are killing it. Veronica mars hasn't been told if they are due back or not. Due to the merger of the stations, they need to pare a lot of shows, as well as add new ones in to the mix. They also have financial restraints on what they can spend per show, and mars was one of those on the bubble due to its low viewership during the season. Yes, the dvd sales were ok, but the viewership has been horrible this year.

Yeah, it's a month long sale. I saw the sign yesterday. Now I have listen to Ace of base again.

Shows that should be Cancelled:

1) eve
2) Three Kings
3) stacked
4) Cuts
5) Reba or All shows on Friday for the WB
6) according to Jim (how the fuck does this stay on)
7) Boston Legal (I hope ABC cancels it, so CBS or anyone else can put it in a better spot)
8) All of US
9) One on One

Let's see some other shows that deserve the ax:

Everything on UPN and WB.

Stacked

War at Home

Boston Legal should say since it is awesome and Shatner is the fucking man.

Awesome WeaponX, thanks for the heads up, I might drive over to Target tonight then and pick it up... $22.99 as an awesome deal. Do you know when the sale ends?

I always wanted to get into Veronica Mars but I never caught it on UPN.

And yea, According to Jim is that shitty Jim Belushi show, how the hell does that or anything on UPN stay on the air?

Everybody Hates Chris is decent, the one episode I saw of Veronica Mars was good but it seemed like it should have been on a different channel because UPN isn't a good fit for it, but yea, everything else sucked.

Gilmore Girls used to be good on the WB.

Damn, I've never even heard of a few of the shows people here are talking about. Mainly because I hardly watch TV.

The only time I'm watching TV is when a football/basketball/baseball/something else sports-related is on, when something interesting is on, or late at night before I go to sleep and I usually watch Fresh Prince or whatever old tv sitcom that's showing.

I'm about to move to a place that has no cable, and now, having to pay for cable on my own, I realize how expensive it has (or can be). For that price, I might as well just hit up pawn shops / sales, get the DVD sets for the shows I like on the cheap, and not have to pay extra money / center my life around tv schedules. But yea, it seems the majority of stuff is kind of boring, and what isn't boring is available on DVD.

24 is an awesome show, but I've never watched it on Fox... something about not having to wait through commercials is awesome, as well.

Yeah, if you don't need cable, just go around and buy some dvd movies or sets. I know plenty of people that don't waste their money on cable but have stacks of dvds.

But you know what they do need to do? They need to start showing Saved by the Bell during nick at nite.

It's gotten to the point now that the DVD sets are on sale enough, (like Veronica Mars, $22.99 for the entire 22 episode first season), or that there are other, cheaper means to get them (like House Season 1 for $24.99 used at Gamestop) that it's finally feasible to do that.

Which is very nice.

To the poster above me, Arrested Development ended awhile ago.
How could everyone forget about Arrested Development?
I guess because it's kind of been dead for a while now... too bad - what a great show...
I was incorrect, veronica mars will have another season
Hopefully they can take that shit off of UPN and move onto a better network.
Very true, but ABC has on at the same time Law & order SVU. SVU is one best shows on, Boston Legal has to be moved to better time slot.

The CW seems like a much better network already.

It must be just me, but I have to say that every Law & Order has bored the shit out of me. Sure I enjoyed the firt 4-6 seasons of the original Law and Order off and on, but I just don't like the show and every year there seems to be a new spinoff. I think that's a show that deserves to be retired into the tv heaven.
Yea, but those are getting renewed... this thread is mostly for shows getting the axe and coming to a close for good.
And just how is another season of Prison Break possible?

Not saying it's not possible, just wondering. Maybe the last season was all a dream?

In a way, Prison Break is over. It may be called Prison Escape next year.
The Office is the best comedy to come along since Seinfeld.
Damn right. Dwight > Kramer? Another thing I like about the show is that I went to college in Bloomsburg so I'm familiar with all the places they mention in the show (i.e. The Mall at Steamtown, Lackawanna County Stadium, etc)
In a way, Prison Break is over. It may be called Prison Escape next year.
They do seem to be setting up some plot threads to extend the series. Not sure if it will be able to keep up its charm outside the walls but we'll see.
The CW seems like a much better network already.
When the heck are they going to start the CW? Is the CW the new name?

I've become a huge House fan as of late. The medical stuff is pretty much bs, but House is just a great character with some hillarious lines.
I've become a huge House fan as of late. The medical stuff is pretty much bs, but House is just a great character with some hillarious lines.
I agree, not to get off topic, but next to rescue me, House is seriously rockin some ratings..

From what I recall hearing today Reba is pretty much gone for good since it won't be on CW's Fall Schedule.

As for Law and Order, I think the original has been going on fairly strong, even if the writing has been only average for a while. SVU has really picked the hell up over the past season or two, though. The writing is a lot better, far more characterization within cases, and the twists and turns within individual episodes are starting to reach some shocking heights. I think the episode that starts out with a sniper hitting three kids in a school playground has enough WTF?! moments in it.

I'm still shocked that King of Queens is on the air. It's not a bad show and the cast itself does a great job considering the material is usually predictable and formulaic. Still, better to have a great overall cast than some of those other, festering sitcoms out there. I still can't believe that That 70's Show has lasted this long, especially when cast members started leaving.

Smallville damn well better NOT be cancelled! :bomb:

Of course, I don't think it is, but it's one of the few shows I watch on a regular basis.

The West Wing
That 70's Show
Malcolm in the Middle
7th Heaven
Never watched any of these shows. So for me everything I watch will return.

smallville and prison break are the best shows on tv right now.

Hope that thief returns it was pretty good never heard much about the ratings.

I knew heist would be gone but I liked it ..it had a horrible timeslot i watched it like 3 times and then missed every episode after.

Something id like to throw out there I think law and order svu is one of the most over rated shows on tv its gotten high ratings cuase they constantly throw major actors on there promote there show like a daytime soap with 'you gotta see it to belive it!! things will forever change!!!everyone will be talking about this tomorow dont miss it!!!'
