So there's a news post here, a news post here, but no official FC thread.. so.. here it is.

Who's getting it? I can't wait to get it. Had it on the XBox, now this one includes the original PLUS a whole new story mode PLUS more multiplayer maps in addition to the that were on the XBox version.. i'm hyped. The only thing that sucks is that you have to play through the first campaign to get to the second campign, the new one, but that's alright.

Who's going to join in for some online craziness!? Can't wait, this one was in my top 5 favorites on XBox, this version can only be better!
 
I thought about making a thread for Far Cry Instincts Predator myself, but since I won't be getting it as soon as most other CAGs, I figured someone (better suited than I) would have one up eventually.

I also loved the Xbox version, but I just can't seem to get myself hyped for this one.

Anyways, good job Scorch! Can't wait to see what you guys think of it...
 
There have been no reviews posted tonight which is usually the norm for games developers aren't worried about having reviews before they hit market. That alone is a bad sign. There has been one review posted so far on gamerankings.com, an 80 from some site I never heard of. There was nothing on IGN or Gamestop tonight or even Team Xbox which is frequently the first site to get reviews.

There was also nothing in Play this month on the game. I don't get EGM but no one's posted a score for them on Gamerankings.

None of this is encouraging. Especially for a game that could be played through in >15 hours. I doubt they're holding off reviews because they're playing with the map editor and online play.
 
I personally think they're just backlogged. IIRC, reviews didn't come out for a while for the first one (a few days after, maybe?).. there was also a similar fate for another Ubi title, Brothers in Arms.. the review was 3-4 days late, but when posted, it was a 9+.

So I seriously doubt they fucked anything up, it'll be amazing. Reviewers are just swamped with Oblivion, Kingdom Hearts II, etc.
 
That may be true of multi-platform sites but not dedicated sites.

I think it will do okay 8.5-8.8 average but I'm seriously thinking about holding off for a while on this since I just got Burnout and Oblivion yesterday and it hasn't even been 8 months since I got Far Cry Instincts.
 
I know what you mean PAD, but a lot of sites and magazines (namely IGN, Gamespot, and GameInformer) had no reviews up for Oblivion until last Friday. I do realize that Oblivion is MUCH larger than Far Cry, yet you cannot tell me that they didn't receive a copy waay before any of us did.

What you are saying holds true most of the time; however, I'm not worried about Far Cry getting lousy scores. It will probably get around an 8.7 from IGN, maybe an 8.3 from Gamespot. I'm sure that if you liked the original Far Cry Instincts, you'll love this.

I'm getting it by next weekend. Just waiting for my gamestop/eb store credit to arive in the mail after the EB/GS website merger fasico, which made my pre-order online null and void. I guess that's ok though cause they saved me $8 in shipping.
 
I'm really looking forward to it since I never got around to it on Xbox. Yahoo's review pretty much is what I expected: looks good, but not compared to GRAW or Oblivion. Basically hi-def version of the xbox game.

Their big negative is that you have to play through the original game entirely to unlock the new content. Not a biggie for me, since I haven't played it yet, but I can see that being a dissappointment to others.

As much as I want it, I'm gonna wait a while. Oblivion and GRAW have my time booked for a couple of months yet, I think. I can wait for some free time and maybe pick it up cheaper this summer...

Boooo! I just finished the old XB version, now I gotta play through it again. Oh well, maybe the enchanced graphics will make it worth my while.

They're also saying that the graphics aren't really much better, othe than the water physics... Maybe they'll release a code or cheat to unlock it later. :/

That little tidbit just flushed this game for me.

No way I'm playing through the whole game a second time, it got tedious the first time I played it.

The only other saving grace would be online play but with GRAW and COD 2 having huge online followings and the initial Far Cry having like... no online following... I'm guessing this game is not going to be big on the 360 either.

Maybe $20-30 but now I don't have to feel bad about missing this one at launch.
 
well this is a tough one... i might get my 360 today.. and i have a bb gift card i was gonna get ghost recon with.. but if this game turns out better... then might have to get this one instead

Well Ubisoft usually is pretty quick to price drop games that don't sell as well as they hoped. We can only hope that extends to the next gen as well.

I was the only one on my friends list that had Far Cry. The games I did join were so-so performance wise and the custom games (Which most were.) took forever to load the map.

Not only that the normal maps created for the game looked like shit compared to the game intself.

Maybe your experience was a little different than mine but Far Cry on the Xbox did nothing for me. Please note, I was not referring to the PC version which I'm sure has a huge online presence.

Should be interesting to see how this one fares. I was kinda interested in the last one since I loved the PC Far Cry, but the AI was what turned me off in that one... hopefully this one can actually rival the PC game in terms of quality.
 
i will be picking it up, but I have to go thru some of my backlog first. I don't want to get into the same situation this gen with a ton of unplayed games.
 
11 360 games, I'm already there.

I played way too much PDZ and Geometry Wars and have picked up GRAW, Oblivion and Burnout in the last two weeks.

I definately did. I never had any lag and there were a lot of CAG'ers on my list that had it. Maps loaded fast, but we never played custom maps. I have great memories of us stacking 10, 15, and even once 20 C4's all together and launching the ATV in the sky.. and the times I would set a tree trap and someone would fly by me on the ATV, only to get smacked halfway across the map (and off the ATV) by the branch.

I never played the PC version online, my PC was barely able to handle the single player campaign.
 
Yeah, I think the only reason I'm not getting this is TOO many games right now. I picked up Outfit, Oblivion, Burnout and still playing NBA 2K and NHL 2K franchises. I have Full Auto also, but trading that in....basically because no time and I can still get good credit for it.
 
Went to get it at GameCrazy (where I have store credit and have it preordered), and she said, "We have it... but the release date isn't 'til the 31st."

... the fuck?
 
I picked it up at GameRush today. I hadn't really been meaning to buy it, but with the cancellations of pre-orders of Outfit & Blazing Angels, I had a little store credit free itself up.

I guess I'll trade in my Xbox version of Instincts to GameRush as well as they are offering $12 for it.
 
Again Play-Asia has the Asian version at $39.90 and is region free.

This could be a great deal for this game. I have ordered Blazing Angels from them because it was region free and if everything works well, on and offline I think I might order this from them as well.

It is worth a try and saves a bunch of cash.
 
Haven't been this pissed regarding a game release in a long time.

Firstly.. only three EB's around me received it today. Not GameCrazy. Not Wal-Mart. Of those three, only one (the one that's 40 miles away) got enough for the public, the other two got only four copies, the same amount of their preorders.

Second.. because of Gamestop's new system, I can't pay for a title that's not in stock (when more's on the way). That's total crap. If I wanted a game and the EB got only enough for preorders, i'd still go and pay so I can just get mine tomorrow and leave.

Who the hell sends out only four copies of Far Cry on 360, only enough to cover preorders? For god's sake, they got a million and a half copies of Kingdom Hearts 2 and Rumble Roses in. RUMBLE ROSES.

Oh well. I hope I get it tomorrow.
 
I'm having making sense of how new releases have been treated this month for 360 games.

Your Far Cry story ties in with many people's experience getting GR:AW. I walked into BB at 10:30-11 to get mine and there were only two copies. TWO! Of the biggest game released since launch..

It took the Wal Mart closest to me 6 days after release to even get Oblivion (Both the normal and LE/bonus edition.) but with store credit to use what can you do?

I'm hoping this is just a hiccup or retailers having trouble forecasting 360 game demand. I'm guessing that the terms carrying 360 games are not the same as current generation titles. Maybe there's no credit given for universal price drops, sales etc. yet. Perhaps retailers have to be spot on gaguing demand otherwise they start losing money on unsold inventory.

I'm just farting into the wind, I have no idea, just guessing.
 
My local wal-mart got in around 24 or so copies.
If any of you live in CT and need a copy. Wallingford, CT. It's a supercenter, so... :)
 
I played for about a hour so far and you have to go through the entire Xbox game again to get to the new campaign. I think that was stated above but I just want to say what an annoyance that is if you played the Xbox version. The graphics on my HD look good but not amazing. It looks like a cleaned up Xbox version. Not next gen. Maybe the other campaign looks better but who knows. If you like Far Cry and want to go through the Xbox version again pick it up. Just dont expect a Next Gen Far Cry.

There was always an excess of 10-12 CAGs playing this game on the Xbox version at anytime. Make sure you add the right people for the 360 version because there will be a lot of people playing it.
 
I absolutely loved Far Cry Instincts on the original Xbox. Not so much for the Single Player, but more for the multiplayer. It was a fresh alternative to playing non stop rounds of Halo.

The online experience on the original was good, but not great. Some games would suffer from lag while others would be exceptional. However, you can view the connection quality when selecting games so it isn't a problem.

If the reviews for this one average around a 7 or higher i'm most definitely picking this one up based on how much I liked the original.
 
This is THE version of Far Cry to own, but yet it is a bit disappointing too. Having to unlock the expansion is bullshit, the graphics don't look that much better, and the A.I. doesn't seem much better to me. Though the graphics are nicer (but not by much), and the controls seem easier and smoother. Load times are much quicker too.

It's a great game, but fans of Far Cry Instincts might be a bit pissed that it's really nothing that new. If you haven't played Instincts yet, or at least beat Instincts, then this is great to have.

I have yet to play it online but the Xbox version was a blast online so I'm expecting the same. I'll find out this weekend when I have time to play it.

Why on earth would you not want to play through that single player again? It was my favorite single player storyline last year, plus it's not even THAT long once you get into it. Gotta love developing those feral abilities.
 
I was playing the BF2 demo yesterday and one guy was BITCHING a LOT about Far Cry..saying it was horrible. He actually called UBISOFT to bitch. I'll probaby pass on this.

No, I base it on a LOT of opinions....from thought, people are saying it's not THAT great. I might eventually pick it up since I never finished the XBOX version. i just found it amusing that someone hated it THAT much

There's someone that hates every game "THAT much", what's your point?

Why can't you read reviews (by professionals and not any douchebag with a microphone on XBox Live) and judge it for yourself instead of basing your purchases on what other people like? Don't you know what YOU like?

Everyone that hates it also hated FC:I on XBox. I loved FC:I on XBox. A lot (and I mean a LOT) of people that hate this are also Halo fanboys.

Why don't you at least give it a rent before casting it aside based on other people's thoughts?
