The final nail: Yoda rapping & breakdancing on Revenge of the Sith DVD

If that had been in the movie it would have pissed me off. I've been a Star Wars fan since I saw the first one at age 7 and I don't see what the big deal is as long as it's not in the movie. Now Jar Jar on the other hand.....

I remember an interview where george lucas thought it was funny that people think of yoda as some great thinker who makes these groundbreaking, insightful comments. To lucas, he just says obvious and simple things, except he words it strangely (can anyone find this interview?). At least that shows lucas doesn't take star wars too seriously. As for many of its fans........

Replace "Yoda" with "Jar Jar Binks" and "Rap" with "an inescapeable volley of laser blasts from a platoon of Storm Troopers" and "dance" with "flailing and wailing in reaction to the laser blasts" and then I would agree that it was brillant.
If anyone had any doubt that Star Wars is a parody of it's former self, here's an easter egg from the Revenge of the Sith DVD.

It's Yoda. Rapping. And breakdancing. Why is George Lucas still alive?
Well, here's the way I figure it: maybe this is a form of satire? It's kind of George's way of saying, "Hey, the 'Star Wars' series is nothing more than a set of movies. Maybe making this video will expose those who are too uptight and overly-sensitive!"

An Easter Egg is a hidden extra that adds a little livelihood to a DVD, isn't it? What kind of secret are you expecting? Some super-1337 hidden scene? Maybe you'll think this is disrespectful, maybe you won't... but if you think that a fuck*** Easter Egg on a DVD somehow diminishes the the integrity of a director/series/whatever, you really need to get a life.

LOL, Star Wars and George Lucas lost all integrity a looong time ago.

I became interested in star wars when it was re-released in theaters when I was in like 5th grade, I quickly became disinterested 2 years later when I saw Episode I. I still haven't (and probably never will) seen II or III. A rapping yoda makes the 5th grader inside of me want to burn his action figure (which I actually have somewhere).

Lighten up.

Yet the joke was done poorly - I would have had him spinning out like some rolling b-boy who had too many redbulls, and then had him blast each stormtrooper in the nutsac.

...Lucas most likely had NOTHING to do with that. When dealing with CGI, sometimes the animators for the different characters get a bit bored of doing the same routine over and over again. On the 3rd disk of Toy Story's Ultimate Toy Box, there is an easter egg where the car dropped off the box with the cawgirl in it...and instead of driving off slowly, it peels off, flies over the hill, flies back over the hill, revs its engines and runs over the box. Lassater had nothing to do with that, it was just a bored (and creative) animator.

Man, I'm trying to find the Mother Goose and Grim parody strip where they have Yoda teaching English.

"No no! After direct object, Indirect Object comes! Fail this test, you will."

Its more or less Yoda doing random dance movies while a rap song plays over it while 4 or 5 storm troopers watch on and nod thier heads...its cute, not THE FINAL NAIL.

Whatever in the world that was, was as close to breaking as fucking square dance is.

That was *really* bad. I don't think it will deter me from buying the dvd, but I wish there were a way to buy the video and make it clear to Lucasfilm that I'm not interested in this kind of crap; their efforts are better spent elsewhere.

That wasn't as bad as the gay love scene they made me do with Nien Nunb from Sullest.

Wait, I shouldn't have revealed that.

Terrible. I hate when rap is portrayed as some "crazy/funny" thing that them ethnics like/do. It's just another way of white people to laugh at us minorties.
