The GBA DS Cover Project (discussion & links)

It's pimp I tell ya. PIMP!

It's hard to tell since my camera sucks but they turned out pretty nice, even though I printed them all at home.

Here's a tip to make them fit on one page when you print them. MS Paint works fine if you don't have a francy graphic editor. Normally, the margins are too big, even if you set them to minimum. The trick is to set the page setup to landscape and then set the paper size to Legal (slightly longer pages). Then just align the picture to the left (uncheck "center horizontally" if you're using MS Paint). The picture will still fit on the normal sized paper you're using, it's just an easy way to trick the printer into going that close to the edge.

Man, those look fantastic. If only I could get some of these Nintendo fansites onboard. This project would freaking blow up I tell ya.

Your prayers have been answered! Movin' on up!

Why do I get the feeling that I will have to make a real page to upload these covers now that we might get an influx of help? Damnit, never enough time.

Yep a new page may be inorder. I like the ease of use of the one you've got now though. Very straight forward. I would keep it simple.

It didn't work for me. I think my printer automatically stops printing before its finishes the paper. Any ideas to help?

Hmm... sounds like your printer is too smart for your own good. Looks like you'll have to really use Legal-sized paper. Even if you don't use high quality paper the covers still look pretty good once they're under the case's plastic layer.

Hey Snowcone, I noticed on the PA forum you guys were kicking around the idea of split DS/GBA covers. I didn't feel like signing up for the PA forums but I just wanted to point out there'd be no room for the manuals for both games if they shared the same case. Couple that with the difficulty of doing the back covers and the whole thing sounds like a no-go to me. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Very good point about the manuals. It would be fresh it if could work but that right there is a deal breaker not to mention the back cover would be chaos.

Where did you find your covers for Mario vs. DK, Sonic Advance 3, and Sonic Battle? They all look different.

Sonic 3 - Back of box is completely different; 3+ logo
Mario vs DK - Light blue box instead of purpleish, completely different back
Sonic battle - Different back

Any ideas as to where I can print these? Maybe someplace online? I don't have a color printer, or even access to one (that's good enough quality that I'd want to use).

I tried taking them to my local Kinko's and Office Max, but got the copyright speech. Doh!

IIRC, heavyliquid scanned them in.

shutterfly or ofoto might work.

I venture to say they are imported or something along those lines

Thanks, Snowcone.. I'll try those places out.

Actually, those three aren't my scans. Out of the three, I only have Mario vs Donkey Kong. I dug my box out, and sure enough, it is different. US ver has the "E" rating in the lower right corner. This one has "RP". Back, spine and bar code are completely different. I'll scan mine in and send it to Snowcone tomorrow or Saturday.

Do you all use a certain type of paper? I've been posting on this topic for a while now, and I just started trying to print everything out today. And if you do use a certain type of paper, does it come in legal sized sheets?

I'd just like to say great work with all the current box covers. I've printed out 4 myself ^_^

I do have one game that hasn't been scanned yet, so I would just like to request a scan for Shining Force (Resurrection of the Dark Dragon) for GBA.

Thanks for all the current work, and I hope to be using more of them as my GBA library expands ^_^

Someone can redo them all and we can label those as alts. No harm in a little variety.

Done:
Megaman Battle Network
Megaman Battle Network 2
Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue Version
Megaman Battle Network 3 White Version
Megaman Battle Network 4 Blue Moon
Megaman Zero 2
Pokemon Ruby
Robotech: The Macross Saga
Tetris Worlds

I have my box still from Shining Force. I knew how quickly these things get messed up, so I unfolded it and have kept it stored in my closet. I don't have a scanner, but I could send it off to someone.

May I also make a suggestion? Could a FAQ on printing be put on the main page? So people have a quick reference page for Q's about paper, what programs to use, and page setup could look to first. I'd love to get started on this project for my games, but I don't have photoshop or high grade paper.

I'm running a HP Deskjet 841C as my printer. So, I'm wondering about the quality of my print-outs (especially without Photoshop).

I will get some FAQs setup for printing this week.

Posted this at snack-bar...

I fixed Mario Advanced 2: Super Mario World. After printing this weekend I discovered a big piece of dirt right between Mario and yoshi's heads. Don't print that one til Snowcone uploads the new one I'm sending him now.

I didn't try. I don't own boktai.

ChuChu Rocket!
Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure
Denki Blocks!
Donkey Kong
Lilo and Stitch

Thanks. You could probably change it to "The GBA DS Cover Project". Hopefully that won't screw up everyone looking for the thread.

Done, and done!!

Minish Cap is online and MoH is credited to you. C'mon people, I know we have others out there than can help out. I would also love to see finished pics of these things.

I took my pics yesterday but need to crop them down and such. I was lazy this AM and played Katamari Damacy instead. I'll get my finished pics up tomorrow. They do look pretty sweet all lined up on a shelf.

Cool! Thanks.

Yeah, I've printed a bunch of new ones since I first took my shelf pics - I would take some new ones, but I have plum run out of shelf space!!! I bought 20 of the cases, and I have now filled all but one...guess its about time for the next batch! :D

This is sweet as hell, you guys. Any chance someone could do Super Puzzle Fighter II? That's the only one missing from my collection that I didn't see on Snowcone's site. Thanks for all the contributions, everyone!

Print them from Photoshop or Gimp if you don't have it and they come out just fine. You will need paper larger than 8.5x11
