Did anyone else get this in the mail? I haven't even popped it in yet to check it out, just wondering if all Underground members are getting it.

BTW, I'm taking my memory cards out first!
 
I finally played it a little yesterday. Wow, this game is a stinker. I never played the original Getaway so I really don't have a lot to compare it to, but this game blows.

The character models look like something from Wallace and Grommit. Their heads look a little too big and they have no neck movement so everything looks stiff and robotic.

I played as far as the shootout in the gym but the AI was so horrible I just gave up. If this demo is any indication of how the final game will play, count me out.

Tell me, did you play GTA:SA? Because all you mentioned was bad graphics and AI, which GTA:SA has in spades.
 
I just got mine in the mail today. haven't tried it yet, but I'll post my comments on it later.

This is wierd . . . I'm signed up twice (my name and my son's) I got a demo with his name but not mine. But under his name, I've done some surveys . . .

back to The Getaway . . . haven't played the demo but I finished the original . . . it retrospect, it did suck! I got the game for $30 at release ($10 off somehow) and then traded it in for $24 instore credit at GS.

I thought I'd rebuy it later but haven't . . . even when I could get it for $8 . . . I might buy it for $5.

It was cool to drive around an accurate representation of London . . . but it had none of the extra missions that make the GTA games so much fun.
 
I've signed up for the bare minimum and I got it a few days ago. This is the first thing I've received from them though.
 
Too bad that the hype is all for naught. It seems that anything coming out of Sony is going to shite. And I'm including their platformers. Shite in terms of quality and sales.

Gamerankings has a 76.6 for the first Getaway and 60.7 for Black Monday. Your attempt to deflect criticism by comparing it to what some reviews called "perhaps the best PS2 game ever" is laughable.

lol, i did the same exact thing after what had happened to me.

I actually liked the demo, even with all its faults. I have and beat the original and can say that the story is the stong point of the game. great script writing. I do say though that the gameplay is a little clunky, but if you look at the depth of the game it's actually quite impressive. I reccomend getting it, but wait till the price drops when it comes out.

Frank Carter is the man! ... if anyone who the hell i am talking about.

lets not be reminded of killzone! now those sales sucked!
 
I popped this into my PS2 today and convinced myself not to buy it. Horrible graphics (choppy during intro, allies and enemies looked the same to me), horrible controls (maneuvering around corners was difficult, aiming/close combat is terrible), and horrible driving simulation (cars shouldn't steer INTO your van with sirens, ramming into walls and trees shouldn't leave your vehicle without a scratch) make this one truly horrible game.

LOL, I did the same thing right before I flicked the switch !
 
Mine was sent to my parent's house, so when I got here yesterday, it was here waiting for me. I might try it later, but I've got whole games to play before I get to it.
 
I hope I get it. I liked the first Getaway, and if this one is the same as the first I will probably like it. And yes Frank Carter is the Man.
