The Golden Compass - X360 - $4.09 shipped

This does not do the movie justice at all (which was phenomenal).
Maybe I totally suck or I didn't try hard enough to beat the first boss battle.
Rent (or buy) the movie instead.

I'm powerless against almost any packaged game priced less than $5. I bit. I'm guessing Cheapy will be able to retire with the affiliate commission he'll get off my purchase.

The book is even better than the movie... plus you can read the other two books and complete the story since the movie didn't perform well and will probably never be finished. Golden Compass is way better than the other two books, but check them out anyway.

I bit on the deal...

That's for damn sure. The first book is awesome, second one went downhill a bit, and the third one totally fell apart. I would honestly recommend reading the first book and then just imagining your own ending to the story.

Movie didn't do well in the US -- it did considerably better overseas. New Line really screwed themselves with this one since they sold international rights to help make up for the film's budget -- and it ended up performing well overseas -- I think something like 3/4 of the revenue earned by the film was international.

I loved this movie, but when you have a licensed game for less than $1, it's a sign. On another note, WILL THEY EVER MAKE THE SEQUEL?!
