Are we getting dugg? We're not on the front page.

I know Cheapy was discussing renting/buying new servers on the CAGChat a week or so ago.
Uh tomshardware.com?

Also Morning OTT. I can't wait to play that DMC4 demo on my PS3. Anyone know how large it is?
around a gig, probably larger.

i set the 360 demo to background d/l this morning, but i don't know that it worked.
I kinda like school.
With the exclusion of my first class.

Spanish es no bueno.
I took 4 years of Spanish in Middle/High School. I'll never take another language again.

For my language requirement in college, I took sign language.

I'll have to get that DMC4 download too.

Played Undertow a bit last night but I wasn't super sold on it. Still it got good reviews so I'm sure I'll dig into it more at some point. I wasn't able to locate the 3rd control point on the very first map so that kind of knocked a bit off the enjoyment for me. Seemed like it should have an option in the pause menu to view the full map or something.

I was very disappointed in playing on the Ultra difficulty (wanted to try and go for the 200/200). Apparently, it's kinda like Halo where you almost have to co-op it to get it. The AI for your team is absurdly stupid, as opposed to very smart enemy AI.

If I had the option for German or Japanese, particularly Japanese, I would've been happy with my 5 years of language classes in Middle/High school. But when forced into Spanish or French... fuck.

Ya, that's what it is was in my home town too. You could take Spanish or French, or one year of Latin (which boggled my mind, one year is not enough for most colleges to recognize it, nor is it taught in college anymore). My college offers a TON of languages: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Swahili, Russian and ASL.

I was very disappointed in just playing the demo. The screenshots I'd saw previous to had given me the impression it would going to be some sort of underwater shmup. While it is sort of shmup-ish, I only thought the marine and big daddy looking fellow were usable (the ships were NOT) and the difference in the AI was incredible. AI for their computer? Great. AI for my team? Idiots. And this was on normal and inside the training mode of the demo. I downloaded it because it was free, but I'm not seeing myself playing it very much.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think CAG goes down more than any other forum. Methinks Cheapy should stop being a cheapass with the servers, if that's what's causing the problems, and fix it.

I don't really post on other forums so I don't know.

Often it happens when something gets dugg or a really juicy deal gets linked from other deal sites. Traffic probably spikes exponentially when that happens. Of course that means new people who would potentially be clicking on referral links are shut out so I'm sure Cheapy doesn't like it just as much as we don't.

But what happened this morning? There were no deals out there, like the wal mart one, or juicy information. This happens more to this site than others I've been to.

As wubb said, it's the traffic that tends to kill us, be it from somewhere like digg, or it could be an issue with the hosting provider.

I think it may be time to start looking at multiple servers and webfarm them together, as well as the database behind the scenes.

I just went out and bought Super Mario Galaxy. It's the first time I've paid full retail price for a game in years. I feel so dirty...

I paid full retail for Orcs & Elves (DS) on Thanksgiving day. I believe that was my last full MSRP purchase. Well and I did buy the ESA Holiday pack for the full MSRP of $30 but that was already a deal IMO.

I finally got a hold of someone who didn't belch in my ear on the XBox support line, but it'll be about 24 hours till I get my refund.

Bleh.

I'm leaning towards spending my points on the two expansions for Band of Bugs, the new pinball table for Pinball FX, and Little Sister music track.

you mean there's stuff you don't have from Live? ;)

Edit: 2 out of 3 people I got on Live were at least helpful and I got my problems resolved... i wonder if it's because i had hardware issues.

I just played Devil mayrunupona$$$$a for the first time. It looks bwallin. May have to get it from the free 360 game site.
Damn, the DMC4 demo still isn't out on PSN. What gives Sony?
They hate you bludger.

PSN updates, say around 3pm-6pm EST, it seems.

If you really want it, figure out how to create a JPN PSN account and go get it.

Man, you suck. You've never played a Devilmayrunupona$$$$a game before? Just don't play 2... ;)

My plan for the 360 games site is to get DMC4 for sure.
(GH3 will be first on the list, followed by DMC4 or potentially another GH3, so I can get a second geetar, selling the game in the process (maybe picking up GH2 with the cash, then selling my PS2 GH2 ala Rocko.)

That's my main gripe with the game so far. I was playing the first campaign, which wasn't too bad up until the last mission when my teammates disappeared and I was getting bombarded from all sides while losing all of my control points.

Oh that sucks, hopefully earlier rather then later so I can play it today.

You're a shifty bastard frosty. I just checked my support tab and apparently I signed up for zooba 3 times and Complete Home twice. I e-mailed Trainn to see if they can fix that. I'm just waiting for zew's referral to go green so I can order another game. I think I'll get Rock Band first, then DMC4

Similarly, I've come to the conclusion that their ship dates are bogus. I can understand GH3 not shipping, but my CoD4 is scheduled to ship today and I bet it won't. There's no excuse for CoD4 being late.

Hey Wubb, I finally accepted your friend request on live. I wasn't avoiding you, I just rarely use my xbox, because my little brother is always on it.
Bout time. Now only gmooj is left dragging his feet on accepting.
Are you at work Wubb? I am bored and wanna play online with some CAGs but they all have work or school.

Yeah I can't get on for a couple hours. Hit me up for Halo if you see me on later. Although I'm pretty bad and haven't played it at all for a week so don't expect much.

I think I'm going to send my Halo 3 disc in for a replacement before that offer expires in a week but I'm not sure. It wouldn't read one time and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the disc or a temp problem with my system. The disc has some scratches, but it's all pretty light and not something I'd expect to affect the game working.

I think figured out what happened with YSC -- I did stamps immediately afterwards, and was probably signing up for stamps.com when the YSC came in, so since my last click for an offer was to stamps, I got two credit emails for stamps.com and none for YSC, leaving me with one credit total. I just signed up for great fun today. Now I only need one more when that clears. I hear all the ones with the same parent company (eAuction, YSC, Google SEO, etc.) need different CCs. I was going to try to use the paypal virtual card deal, but my account doesn't meet all the reqs.

Maybe I should email Trainn about the double offer completion email to see if I can get them to straighten me out first, but my idea is they'll say to file and MCR tomorrow.

When you're talking about "signed up for" are you talking about click history? Cause that doesn't mean jack, really -- i've got things in my click history that i didn't sign up for because i wasn't feeling the offer after reading the details.

Moring OTT...Oh wait...it's 1:45 and this is my first post? Or did I post already?

I forget!

Hey Government Rebate Checks...W00T! Finally my kids are useful for a change!

I kid, I kid!

Ok cool, I am not sure how long I will be here, but If I see ya on, I will send you an invite.

yeah, I'm talking about the click history. I know I signed up for zooba and Complete Home, it's just odd that I have 3 and 2. The odd thing is doesn't just say pending but says "request credit." That makes me think it went thr

I'm going to straighten it all out. I just got the official e-mail from zooba the other day, and I will cancel Complete Home tomorrow. I need to cancel BB, Netflix, and Gamefly too.
Be sure to spend it all immediately so the economy gets a push!
And on American goods and services!

That didn't happen last time 2001, I beleive, and foreign markets actually got a shot in the arm.

Ha, I heard a stat that nearly all of the last refund was spent but I didn't think about how much went towards foreign products. Obviously it will just mirror the current %s I'm sure.

Since Americans have a negative saving rate it makes sense that any money you give us is going to be burnt off post haste.

well, everyone expected that yesterday's Last.fm announcement was going to shake shit up but I think the analysts might be going a bit overboard

Last.fm's Stand Against Satellite Radio
By Rick Aristotle Munarriz January 23, 2008

I've got some good news and some bad news for XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR) and Sirius (Nasdaq: SIRI) investors.

The good news is that it may get a whole lot easier to get the merger between the two companies approved, after this morning's announcement that online radio service Last.fm will offer free streaming music from all four major labels and countless indies. A program is also in place to monetize uploads from unsigned artists.

The bad news? I just told you. Last.fm, bought by CBS (NYSE: CBS) in a $280 million deal last year, is providing on-demand delivery of its growing digital library for free.

Naturally, this is also bad news for other companies selling digital tracks, like Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), or music subscription services like Napster (Nasdaq: NAPS) and RealNetworks (Nasdaq: RNWK).

Models will be rattled. Sure, Napster has had a free lo-fi streaming option for Web-based users for some time now. And let's be clear that even the generosity of Last.fm has its limits. Once you stream the same song three times, you'll have to purchase it from affiliated retailers like Apple and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN).

You may find the restriction limiting -- perhaps even Zune-esque -- but the key to enjoying a music discovery site like Last.fm lies in exploring the millions of available tracks, without repeating the same tune over and over.

It's funny to see terrestrial radio lobbying against the pairing of XM and Sirius as a threat to their livelihood, when this "silent but deadly" killer is sneaking in through the Internet.

It doesn't take a lot of imagination to see where the music broadcasting industry is headed. Have you tried the FlyTunes widget, which lets iPhone users stream free Internet radio through their iPod-enabled wireless phones? Do you realize that more and more new cars are coming with jacks to plug in third-party gadgets? It won't be long before satellite and terrestrial foes are huddled together, shouting "bogeyman" at Web-beamed music programming.

I think that XM and Sirius are differentiated enough to earn their premium pricing. I can't say the same for free radio. It may be Last.fm's stand, but it's starting to feel more like the last stand for conventional one-way commercial music broadcasting.
well, everyone expected that yesterday's Last.fm announcement was going to shake shit up but I think the analysts might be going a bit overboard
I think you're right.

If I was going to look for free streaming music on the Internet, there's plenty of choices. How the Last.fm situation with CBS hooks into the XM/Sirius merger, I've yet to see it.

The whole idiocy about dragging out the XM/Sirius merger is nothing but the radio lobbyists making it drag out for months and months. There's plenty of choices out there, and I don't know why radio keeps thinking that there's no real competitor to satellite radio. Last time I checked, OTA TV, cable and satellite all work well enough together.

Played the DMC4 demo on 360 and it's not bad, but the combat may not be for me. The boss battle was much better than the standard part of the demo. I do like that Johnny Yong Bosch is voicing Nero though.
