The guy at my local EB is crazy...
Actually I think every game store employee is incompetent. If you weren't, you wouldn't be working a shitty retail job for minimum wage. Basically you're no more important in this world than a trained circus monkey. And circus monkeys probably make more money, too.
Do us all a favor and work at a gamestore for a month. I would so love to see you make a comment like that after actually having to put up with people like yourself for a month.

I love CAG, don't get me wrong folks. I love the idea and spirit of what CAG is all about and as both a consumer and retail employee I totally encourage sites like this (however I disapprove of fatass wallet, but I'll save that for another time). However its people like YOU who make posts saying every single employee is "incompetent" is what pisses me off. Yes there are true incompetent retail employees out there but please - just because you have had a few bad experiences doesn't give you the right to say the many hard working folks who want to do nothing more than to earn your business is "incompetent."

Ive managed game stores for 3 years. My favorite part was kicking out assholes. I'd love to see them throw a fit, and kick them out. If they didn't leave, police would gladly come, remove them, and play a little Xbox on the house.

Alright, I have a simple solution. Just buy it at Target, they don't do preorders and if you get there the day of release you've got a good chance of picking it up. Hell, I bought Splinter Cell Chaos Theory CE for XBox yesterday at target. Did the EB in the same mall have any copies left? Hell no.

You asked for a limited edition one.. usually EB recieves enough to only cover the pre-orders.

Happened with Halo 2 LE, happened with Splinter Cell CT LE, and is probably happening with Jade Empire LE. The EB I frequent still has Halo 2 LEs, and when I asked about them the manager said every one they have is a pre-order someone never picked up. I think there was around 100 LE pre-orders, and 5 odd months later there still is 5+ of them.

So instead of thanking the guy for giving you a LE without pre-ordering, you acted like an ass.

Bravo.

Such a sad topic.

The OP you were just rude. He was just doing his job. Topics like this make me so glad I am out of the game retail business.

I am not even sure I want to reopen VGD. Maybe it's time to post the site for sale.

Didn't he say he could make more money working at McDonalds?

He would be right too, at least in my area. McDonald's pays $6.50 a hour, while I still hear employees at GS & EB complain about minimum wage.

OP, why didn't you just order the LE online? Ebgames.com probably still has it, plus it isn't their fault that they only received enough copies for preorders(how do you think people felt when the PS2, Xbox & Gamecube came out?).

Hehe I remember seeing that post on GameFAQs about the magazine rack awhile back.

I've met a few EB employees who tried to do the "We only have one left you should buy it now" tactic. Is there some sort of insider secret sales strategy that EB uses or something?

Honestly though, if someone sees 300 copies of Doom 3 on display, wouldn't they also know to pre-order the game before they could get it? It's been the same way for a LONG TIME for big name games. I don't understand how this is a big deal though. He asked if you were getting the game today, that's a question that wasn't meant to be rude or whatnot. I mean if you were an employee of EBgames and were told to unpack the 300 copies of Doom 3 and display them, would you question their motives on that? Or would you just do your job?
