Thank you. I can certainly understand people not finding my joke funny, but not understanding that it was a joke is hard to fathom.
Dragonfireflys: I had mentioned earlier that it would be very surprising if they didn't check ids, or at the very least make the girls sign a document stating they were at least 18 at the time (21 if being served alcohol, which I suspect they all were).
Yes, mbstuff, it is a slippery slope, but you do realize that the 18 year-old "line" is arbitrary, right? Nothing magic happens on a woman's 18th birthday to make her suddenly mature enough to make her own decisions. Some people mature earlier than others, but the age-based laws (drinking age, smoking age, voting age, age of consent) are generalized for the sake of simplicity. There are 14-year olds who are much more civic minded, and therefore more likely/qualified to vote than a lot of the "adults" I know, but, I realize that we have to draw the line somewhere, and age is the easiest division to make -- but that does not make it any less arbitrary.
I have not played this game (after all, it hasn't dropped to $5
), but I am under the impression that nothing that these women do is of a sexual nature. It is my understanding that they just get drunk and topless. It is not illegal to have images of an intoxicated youth (yes, it is illegal to contribute to the delinquency of a minor), nor is it illegal to possess images of an underage girl without a shirt on. My understanding, and we have a few lawyers on here who can set me straight if my understanding is incorrect, is that in order for these topless images to be illegal, it must be demonstrable that the images of a lewd or sexual nature. While arguably lewd, the images are not sexual. Had the producers of the game obtained proper authorization (from the parents, in this case), I think they would be legally in the clear to distribute the game, although they would still be in trouble for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. I don't mean to imply that a judgement could not be made against the producers, just that distributing the game would not be prima facie illegal.
Most of my legal knowledge was obtained through watching L.A. Law, Law & Order (various), Ally McBeal, and Boston Legal (which is about 60% The Practice and 40% Ally McBeal. I couldn't stand the Practice, but this is a good mix, and a great timeslot), so take my statements with a mine of salt.
