The Iron Sheik's wrestling topic

I had a feeling the Triple H/Snitsky match would be good, and it was. The ending also kept Snitsky's "undefeated" streak since moving from his first Raw tenure to ECW, intact.

I've thought for a while that they should build up Snitsky more on TV for a future PPV match with Triple H or Cena.

I think that was on the agenda before Cena got sidelined.

Snitsky got pinned by Jeff Hardy about a month ago.

The destruction of the screen makes me wonder if the rumors that there'll be a new set for the HD premier next week are indeed true.

So Triple H destroys the mini-titantron and gets back in the Royal Rumble match?

I'd like it if the real world followed this logic.

"Professor, why did you give me an "F" on this paper?"
"Well, frankly, it was beyond terrible."
*smashes desk with a sledgehammer*
"I can't trust you. And you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to give you an extra credit assignment, due next week."

Good God this "mini" Royal Rumble is just horrid. YES! Finlay saves it with a massive ass-kicking. Jeez, it's 10:50 and they've still got two matches. So much for my hopes of them being really good, which both Regal-Flair and Hardy-Orton could be.

Gotta put something light-hearted in there. I thought it did its job at mildly entertaining me, although I think it went a bit too long. Khali at the end was predictable.
Emerald Frosion = Celtic Cross?
No, the Emerald Frosion is a totally different move (the one Dreamer called the Dreamer Driver in the original ECW). The Celtic Cross is just the Kryptonite Krunch - Nova's last ECW finisher.

IIRC, it's more or less the same move, but with the opponent's body facing in the opposite direction.
If they skip commercials, they may have time.

Otherwise, a nice 5 minute main event if this match ends soon.
Exactly five minutes... lame. I bet they run 5 or so over.

Give that away on free TV instead of PPV? Jee-zus.
Man, how could it have all that leadup and there was no camera with the overhead shot?
There's a perfectly good reason for that: Orton got the fuck out of dodge while Hardy did his swanton, and crept back in before the cameras switched to show the "carnage."

As a piece done on live TV, it was *excellently* done. I do think that, unless they plan on giving Hardy the belt, they just gave away what could have been the finish for their PPV match (Hardy "giving it his all," but his high-flying tendencies doing him in in the end).

I really, really like Jeff Hardy, he's one of the guys that i've never really had a problem with and have always enjoyed his work (others that fall into that category: RVD, Kurt Angle), but i'm afraid one of his stunts will end up killing him one day.

But it sure ignites the crowd. I love the big stunts that they do. Shane's jumps, RVD's Van Terminator, Jeff's.. everything. It's fantastic.

When he first climbed up there, I thought that was a crazy jump... then to go higher, c'mon man.

Shane pulled that stunt back in the day though, but I believe it was into an air bag.

I'd imagine Jeff wins at the Royal Rumble via DQ, perhaps leading to a stretcher match at No Way Out between the two? Jeff loses, but goes on to win the MITB match at WM24? That scenario would seem to make the most sense.

Jeff's more over than 99% of the roster at this point, so a title run only makes sense. He's gotten better on the mic, but still lacks polish and that "it" factor that guys like HBK have on the mic. I think waiting a little time, while testing him out in the main event would be very wise.

Of course it doesn't matter because as soon as Captain Retard comes back he'll hold the title until (God willing) someone injurs him again.

Looks like we won't be seeing Jeff or Orton again until the Rumble. After that insane spot they'd be nuts to put them on TV before then as it'd ruin the impact (no pun intended) of what we just saw.

No one injured Cena (who I'm guessing is this Captain Retard who puts his health on the line that you are WISHING SERIOUS HARM upon) - Cena did his goofy little hiptoss and screwed his arm up. Kennedy might've sandbagged him on it (something he loves to do), but it's impossible to tell if that was the case looking at the footage.

Anyway, that was an absolutely insane move, and I'm glad that WWE not only showed A TON OF REPLAYS (take note, TNA), but drove home how dangerous it was (again, take note TNA), and showed both men being injured by the move (again, take note TNA). Should they have saved it for PPV? Possibly, but it was a memorable live moment, something that will likely be replayed many times, and something that added even more fuel to what has so far been a fantastically built WWE title match at the Rumble.
Jeff Hardy is one insane motherfucker.
What he said. When they went up to the stage I figured they'd do something to further destroy the set, but this was infinitely better.

Yeah, if that was TNA, Tenay and West would be jacking it to some backstage shit and both people involved would get up after 30 seconds or less, unharmed. And there would be tacks.

Somebody posted this at another forum, but almost the exact same spot happened in TNA except it was a table and concrete instead of a foam box.

And they immediately cut to a midget masturbating in a garbage can backstage.

Crystal meth.

WWE lacks managers. Mouthpieces. I guess they went away with Paul E.

The Hardys had one back in the day. Michael Hayes, then Gangrel, then Terri... though of the 3, only Hayes was a decent mouthpiece. Jeff Hardy needs one.

i can't remember where exactly i read it, but in an interview shortly after coming back to the WWE, hardy had said there were a few spots he'd done in TNA that he wanted to try again in front of the bigger crowds. i guess this was one of them.

The problem with that is mouthpiece managers usually only work with heels.

I am drawing a complete blank if there has ever been a successful one with a face.

I wasn't a fan back then, so I don't know for sure, but Arnold Skaaland immediately sprung to mind.

But you are right, it's more of a heel thing. And Jeff will need to work as a heel someday. New Brood w/Gangrel doesn't count.

I also don't watch Smackdown... how's Matt on the mic?

Paul Bearer managed Taker as a face too. Captain Lou Albano was a face manager at one point as well. Paul Ellering for LoD. Hmm, probably some more too, I know Jimmy Hart worked as a face for Hogan in WCW quite a bit, but Hogan obviously didn't need a manager at that point.
Evidently, the Observer claims McMahon himself has axed the Macho Man and Sting DVD sets.

...there is no god.
fuck! That sucks man, but doesn't shock me. The Sting one is better saved until Sting can work on it with WWE. As for Savage, he's black-listed, it's just not gonna happen.

Matt is actually pretty good on the mic. He works a great heel, his V-1 gimmick was very unique at the time a pity he got injured. Then he does a great job garnering sympathy as a babyface. Really after the Edge incident you just can't help but take pity on Matt Hardy.

Yeah, here's the full details.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the Sting and Randy Savage dvd releases are being cancelled. Apparently Kevin Dunn put the whole list together and included the two stars as Vince wanted more bigger name releases - Vince has now rejected these two releases as he wants nothing to do with Savage (still) and Sting has resigned with TNA.

So, after watching Raw, anyone else thinking that HHH's Rumble qualifier match next week will be against Big Show?

Obviously trotting Khali out again won't work, and Vince needs someone that seems intimidating and believable against HHH.

A returning Show seems perfect.

Probably won't happen, but just an idea.

Also, I'm rather amazed that anyone in the company would even float the idea of a Savage or Sting DVD without checking with Vince first.

I was thinking the same thing. That would be excellent. Vince, Show and HHH have history of course from the DX deal. So, to have Show come out and beat down HHH setting up a match between the two at the Royal Rumble would be smart business. Not holding my breath on that one though.

Well that's the thing about internet lists like that, they're not official. We were probably seeing the "rough draft" so to speak. Before it was taken to Vince.
