I wanna buy a nice pistol for my 21st at the end of the month. Just curious as to what would be a good choice in a fair price range.

A friend of mine wants to sell me an AR-15 w/ the banana clip/magazine whatever... hasn't named a price yet, but I'm sure he'd let it go for cheap. I have a lot of space to shoot cause we've got caliche pits and just a whole bunch of nothing like 5 minutes down the road... just looking for starter reccomendations and what not. :D
Depends, have you fired a handgun before? What would you use it for? As for the AR-15, see if it has these features- flash hider at the end of the barrel (Where the bullet comes out, it's a cage-looking thing), collapsable stock, removable carry handle. You ought to not buy it for less than $700 used. I'll take pictures to show you what to look for for damage, gimme a few minutes.

I'm sure Shrike will be around for the people who weren't total pricks to him.. i.e. everyone except Kayden,(hopefully he will) but he just won't be thumbnailing pictures and putting booty pictures as links anymore.... get... the fuck... over it. :/

plus I live in some apartments where break-ins happen all the god damned time, and if my car was broken into once more and I was up for it, I'd scare the shit out of that person. :D
So is Shrike not a mod anymore? This could get a lot more interesting without someone keeping tabs on us .
Wait...what? Shrike?

Shrike?

People questioned/jumped on him about one of his bans, and then he was "like whateva I'm outta here."

Size... twos? I'm listening.

Look at the bright side, your boobs are bigger than they are.

Seen Heroes? Take them for a car ride then run into a wall at over 100mph.

Yeah. I dunno what happened but don't really want to know either. I'd rather it exist as a myth.

In other news, my uncle was lighting mortar fireworks at the beach and the tube broke, leading about 5 of them to not shoot into the air. I was just like "Well, cheating death 5 times in a row is enough for me. I'm going home."

Screw you guys...home...

It's true. I usually win on boobs.
It's true. I usually win on boobs.
then what's the problem? bewbs are all that matter in this world, and since you've got plenty.. you'll do just wonderfully. :D

Well, regarding the first comment, I'd suggest a .22LR handgun. They're cheap as is, and the ammo is like five bucks for 100 rounds. Very inexpensive, and fun as fuck to plink with. I'd suggest a SIG Mosquito.

As for the second remark, a .22LR handgun won't cut it for defense, heh. If I were you, I'd choose the Taurus PT99 AF-D. I have the PT99 AF model, the -D means it has a decocker and can speak from personal experience that this handgun is awesome.

It is 9mm, and has an odd sort of action where a block inside the frame drops down as the barrel recoils, rather than the tilting action like the 1911. It is a full-size handgun, but I have big hands so it's not really a problem. They're easy to disassemble, they're reliable to shoot, and they're cheap. The sights are pretty damn nice, and you can get new ones by shipping the slide to Taurus. 9mm is a great round, especially if you use hollowpoints, but those'll run about $20 for 25 rounds, but they're worth it. The PT-99 AF usually runs around $400. I have pictures if You'd like to know more. Still working on the AR stuff...

On a different note I was looking at teh FAQs on getting a marriage certificate in Florida and one question was Can I get married to someone I'm related to? I was more shocked by the answer than the question "Florida law prohibits a person marrying anyone to whom they are related by lineal consanguinity. The nearest degree of relations who may legally marry in the state of Florida is first cousins." First cousins.... WTF.

The taurus P22's are pretty sweet as well. Same deign as the P99 just in the .22 caliber. And like Hex said alot cheaper to shoot.

Yet another reason why Florida should be cut away from the U.S. and sent floating down to Cuba.
I just know some OTTer has that pic saved somewhere.
Your tots aren't in the Two Friends OTT anymore.:cry:

I think most states are first cousins IIRC

With regards to buying a used AR, it comes down to what you want. The big brands are Bushmaster, Colt, DPMS, Stag Armoury, Olympic and Rock River Arms. On the side of the rifle without the ejection port, on the square bulge where the magazine goes, there will be stamping that tells you what manufacturer it is. Bushmaster is the best, in my opinion, which seems to be echoed just about anywhere else. DPMS is the lower end, but cheaper. Make sure that stamped on the barrel and on the magazine well (Where the manu is stamped) it says .223/5.56x45mm, or something to that effect. That means that it can take both calibres. They're similar, very similar, but not the same- if you try to fire .223 in a 5.56x45 rifle, I believe they explode. Continuing from that, have your friend disassemble the rifle. If he can't... that's bad, because he'll never have cleaned it.

I guess they figure its far enough not to make retarded children. Forgive the term btw.
Who needs courage when you've got a gun?
Who needs a gun? I've got a stockpile that never runs out of ammo. Sorta like the guns in Lost.

Damn. Burn Notice was awesome. Definitely gonna keep watching that now. I can't think of the last time a premiere had me so excited. I had heard Donovan was just okay in the main role and that everyone else stole the show, but I thought he was great in the main role, and everyone else just enhanced it that much more. Can't wait for tomorrow's episode!

boltCarrier.gif

When you have the bolt in hand, look at it so that you can see the flat part with the sproket-like protusions. This is the bolt face. There should be a plunger looking thing on the left, and a claw on the right, with a hole in the middle. Are there any ring shaped markings around the hole, and if so, are they very pronounced? If they're really pronounced, then you might need a new bolt. Are the sprokets a non-reflective black colour, or shiny and silvery? If they're silvery, then they're worn down and might need replacing. Next look at the firing pin, the long silvery nail-like piece. #2 in the picture. Inspect it to see if there are any cracks, or if the point of the pin is too flat. If it is flat, you might need to replace that. It should be round and somewhat pointy, but not sharp. Also look at all of the components and make sure there aren't any cracks or heavy dings. It may be dirty, but that's okay.

Next:

upperReceiver.gif

See that rounded cut inside the upper, towards the front and below the carry handle? That's the ejection port. Take your finger, and turn over the upper (it will still have the barrel and hanguard attached) and run your finger all over the inside to see how dirty it is. Looking inside the reciever after running your finger through, look towards the front of the receiver, and see if there's a small silvery black tube sticking into the assembly, and make sure that isn't bent or anything.

I can't really think of anything else... Just make sure he knows how to take the rifle apart, and have him show you how, and make sure you watch. Ask me any more questons, I'm not sure what else to say. Study these diagrams, too.

I'd love to see Kojima rererelease MGS2 with the third person camera from Subsistence. Still fun, but I don't like running towards the camera blindly.

In a nutshell:

Buy the shiniest one, shoot the motherfucker till it jams, then take it apart and clean it a little bit.

No. Shiny is bad. Don't shoot it until you take it to a gunsmith and have him check the headspace. Buy the right ammunition. Make sure the inside of the barrel is clean, then shoot and clean it thoroughly.

AR15s are dirty thanks to the gas impingement system. Gas is taken from the explosion of the round and shoved back into the breech to make the bolt carrier go backwards and eject the round. This gas cools and condenses into sooty black carbon and will coat the inside of the rifle and after many thousands of rounds will cause stoppages. The thing needs to be cleaned, and often, just as a precaution.

TFN, to be honest, I can't explain everything over CAG. It's much easier in person with the rifle in hand. Take it to a gun shop if you buy it and have them give you a run down on everything.

Oh, and Ryles suggested the P22. Actually Walter makes the P22, not Taurus, but I would stay away from it anyway. It's tempermental with what ammo you put into it, it stovepipes, it's a lot of plastic, etc. Stay away from the P22. The sole plus is the proprietary laser they might give you, but even then it's quite flimsy. The SIG Mosquito has an accessory rail, IIRC.

I don't mind the shitty camera angles in the first two because the AI is pretty stupid. Not to mention that the angles add to the scene sometimes too.

Wife came by and dropped off the kitten. Cute little thing, I'm guessing 6 weeks old. She took Juggerbit to the store to get him out of my hair, since I have a pounding headache. (Too many fireworks for him to sleep.)

Home alone...what to do...what to do? Think I'll clean and go to bed...
