GoHastings.Com Promotional Deals and Codes

AMARILLO, Texas - Texas-based Hastings Entertainment Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Company officials say the reorganization filing includes its parent company, Draw Another Circle, and sister brands Movie Stop and SPImages.

A statement posted Monday on the Hastings website says the Chapter 11 process will help prepare the business for an intended sale, while providing protections and financing to continue operations. Further financial details weren’t released.

Hastings will no longer accept or honor deposits for movie purchases and will no longer rent games. Hastings gift cards expire July 13, 2016. The company’s buyback program has been suspended.

General
Question: What is Hastings / GoHastings.Com?
Answer:
Founded in 1968, Hastings Entertainment, Inc. is a leading multimedia entertainment retailer that combines the sale of new and used books, videos, video games and CDs, and trends and consumer electronics merchandise, with the rental of videos and video games in a superstore format. Currently there are 146 superstores. Hastings also operates www.goHastings.com, an e-commerce Internet Web site that makes available to customers new and used entertainment products and unique, contemporary gifts and toys.

Question: Gee, this is a really long FAQ. Doesn't Hasting have their own FAQ for customers?
Answer:
Hastings does have their own FAQ. You can read Hastings' official FAQ by clicking here. However, this FAQ goes into many details that Hastings' own FAQ does not. So be sure to read through all of this before asking a question!

Game / Item Condition
Question: What is the difference between "used" and "previously viewed" items on GoHastings.Com?
Answer:
"Used" games and movies are items that have been traded in to a Hastings retail location by a customer. "Previously viewed" games and movies are items that Hastings has rented out to customers at their retail locations but are now selling to the public.

When it comes to video games, most CAGs report no real difference between the two other than some ancillary stickers, but both "used" and "previously viewed" games are subject to being scratched, abused, or incomplete depending how well it was previously taken care of.

When it comes to movies, the "Previously Viewed" rental versions often lack features from the full retail versions and may come in different boxes, have different UPCs, have white barcode stickers around the center ring of the disc, etc.

You may encounter a situation where a customer has purchased a "previously used" item from Hastings, then traded it back into Hastings, thus making it a "used" item. This practiced is frowned upon by most customers, but Hastings has shown next to no incentive to change it. It mostly happens with movies.

Question: Do used and previously viewed video games come complete with the original case and manual?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com states as follows:

Due to the nature of used products; booklet inserts, digital movie downloads and manuals are not guaranteed in our used video games, movies and CDs.
However, the vast majority of CAGs have reported that a large majority of their games do arrive complete. Incomplete games are more of an exception rather than the rule.

Question: Are used collector's editions and limited editions of games guaranteed to come with extras like bonus discs, statutes, and other items?
Answer:
No. Hopefully the used CE and LE games would at least come with all of the discs, but this is not guaranteed. And there is absolutely no guarantee other physical items or "swag" will be included for these used copies. However, CAGs have reported that they have purchased used CE and LE games and received all of the extras. If you order a used CE or LE and it does not come with the extras, just contact customer service and ask about a return/refund.

Question: What condition do "used" and "previously viewed" discs come in?
Answer:
Mosts CAGs seem to get games in good, playable condition if not better. However, there have been cases of receiving a game so scratched up that it would not load/play. These games can be returned to GoHastings.Com at no cost to the customer for a full refund.

NEW!
Question: Are New condition games factory sealed or gutted and re-sealed?
Answer:
As of mid-2013, Hastings retail stores have adopted a policy of gutting games then storing the game discs, manuals and DLC papers separately. This is so they do not have to lock up games or put security cases on games yet still allow the customer to physically handle the boxes in-store. When a new game is sold, Hasting will either re-seal the game or they will place the game in a bag that cannot be opened if you want to return the game as new.

Shipping
Question: Why are my items shipping individually? Why does GoHastings.Com include a shipping charge for each individual item ordered?
Answer:
Hastings does not have warehouses for fulfilling internet orders. All items are shipped from individual brick and mortar retail stores. If your order contains multiple items, your order may ship from multiple locations at different times if one location does not have all of the items you ordered. Because items could ship from more than one location, GoHastings.Com charges a per item shipping fee. Yes this can be frustrating, so its best to either get over it if you intend to shop at GoHastings.Com, or if you can't get over it, shop elsewhere. Like all "deals," include the shipping price per item into consideration for the total cost of the game being purchased.

UPDATED!
Question: How much is shipping per item?
Answer:
Video Games and PC software ship for $2.28 per item.

CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays ship for $1.29 per item.

Books have a per-order charge of $3.00 plus $0.99 shipping per book ordered.

Game Hardware, Electronics and Trends have a per-order charge of $1.99 plus $0.10 shipping per ounce for each item ordered.

Full shipping information, including expedited shipping prices, can be found HERE.

Occasionally, GoHastings.Com offers free or reduced shipping promotions.

Please note, books used to ship for $0.96 per order with no per item charge but Hastings discontinued that pricing scheme as of January 10, 2014. CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays used to ship for $0.96 per item, but Hastings raised that price to the current cost as of approximately May 25, 2014.

Question: How long does it take GoHastings.Com to ship my order?
Answer:
Standard Shipping:
Order processed within 48 Hours
Shipping time is 3-10 Days

Priority / Expedited Mail:
Order processed within 48 Hours
Shipping time is 2 - 3 Days

Question: What service does GoHastings.Com use to ship items?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com primarily ships items using the United States Postal Service (USPS). Video games ship via USPS First Class Mail. Books, movies and music ship via USPS Media Mail. Larger orders may ship via UPS.

Question: Will GoHastings.Com give me a tracking number for each shipment?
Answer:
Every shipment usually has a tracking number associated with it. If you did not see a tracking number in the shipping confirmation email, check your order history on GoHastings.Com.

Question: What will GoHastings.Com ship my items in?
Answer:
It will vary. Hastings might use a yellow paper mailer with bubble padding on the inside. They might use a white plastic envelope with bubble padding on the inside. They might use a stiffer paper/lighter cardboard envelope with no padding. Hastings will try to jam as many items into any of the above envelope options as possible, resulting in frequently damaged books, broken game/movie/CD cases, etc. On rare occasions, someone at Hastings will have the common sense to put larger or heavier items into a box for safer shipping, but even then they will neglect to use padding. Hastings used to ship items in a white plastic poly-bag with absolutely no padding or protection, but after numerous complaints, the company claims these are supposed to be phased out and no longer in use. They still pop up from time to time.

Order Cancellations / Out Of Stock Items
Question: Why was an item cancelled out of my order? Why is that item back in stock right now?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com fills their stock from their Hastings brick and mortar retail locations. Additionally, GoHastings.Com sells items on Amazon and eBay. Their online inventory system is antiquated and does not update stock instantaneously across physical store locations, GoHastings.Com, Amazon, and eBay. Therefore if someone bought the same item first in store/on Amazon/on eBay, their order will be fulfilled first and your item will be cancelled if there is not enough inventory to go around, even though you thought the item was in stock. Yes this sucks, but now you know about it so you can simply choose not to shop at GoHastings in the future if you can't deal with it. No need to endlessly complain about it in posts. Consider writing a letter to the president of Hastings, whose contact info can be found below this FAQ.

Because Hastings' physical store locations accept trade-ins for the used items that they sell, an item that was out of stock may quickly come back into stock if someone trades in the same item, or if someone returns the same item. However, as stated above, GoHastings.Com has an antiquated online system, and they will not be able to fulfill any items on your order once they have been canceled. You will have to re-order the item, at which time the promotion you initially ordered under may have expired. You can try to contact customer service to see if they will create a new order for you with the price point your originally ordered under.

Question: I just ordered something and now it shows as out of stock, either on my order history page or on the item's page. Will my order be canceled?
Answer:
Probably not, but it is still possible. GoHastings.Com updates its inventory count immediately when sales from the website are made. Therefore if they had one item, and you ordered it, it will now show up as out of stock on GoHastings.Com. However, if someone ordered it off Hastings' eBay or Amazon Marketplace listings first, they may fulfill that order first and cancel your order. Also, if someone walks into the store and purchases the item before it is pulled to ship to you, your order will be canceled. Additionally, store employees may not be able to locate the item and thus cancel your order for that reason. Hastings also has a problem on their website where items in your order history show as out of stock, sometimes regardless of the actual stock. Your best bet is to take a deep breath and not worry about it.

Sale Pricing
NEW!
Question: How can I tell if one promotion or discount is better than a different commonly offered promotion or discount?
Answer:
The following guides are only for video games since they take into consideration the $2.28 per game shipping price. You will have to do your own math for music/movies, books, trends/electronics and other shipping sales.

Remember, stock and prices fluctuate constantly and may not be the same by the next sale.

The math in the Buy 2 Get 1 For $1 deal assumes you choose three equally priced games to maximize your potential savings.

Question: GoHastings.Com totally raised their prices prior to the sale! OMGWTFBBQSauce! Should I call the police / attorney general / president of the United States?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com claims to not raise their prices prior to sales. Their pricing is based on algorithms that consider things like supply, demand, competitor pricing, market rates, etc. If a game was $10 before the sale and $15 24 hours into the sale, chances are there were only a couple of copies of the game and someone bought one when the sale started, thus affecting the supply and demand. You are not the only one monitoring a Wish List on GoHastings.Com. However, there have been some clearly documented instances of raising prices right before a sale, especially with books rather than games.

Promotional Deal Codes
Question: Why is the promotional code not applying to my order?
Answer:
Certain M-rated games carry the disclaimer that "This item is only available for purchase by customers age 17 and older." If you have such a game in your cart, be sure to check the box by the "Check Out" button that says "I am at least 17 years of age" before clicking the "Apply Promotion Code" button to apply the promotional code.

Additionally, some promotional codes only apply to select qualifying titles. Be sure that your order only contains such titles. Occasionally the GoHastings.Com programmers miss something and games that are supposed to qualify do not work with the promotional code. If this is the case, please contact GoHastings.Com. Contact information can be found below this FAQ.

Question: Can I use more than one promotional code at the same time? Can I stack promotional codes?
Answer:
No, you can only apply one promotional code per order. This prevents code stacking. If there are two promotional codes valid at the same time that you would like to use, you must place two or more separate orders.

Question: What time do promotions normally begin / end?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com operates based on the Central Time Zone. Weekly promotions usually start on Sunday and usually last the whole week. Various other promotions may have different start times and durations. Promotions usually begin at midnight Central time. However, sometimes the new promotions take a while to go "live" on the website, so always double check your order that the correct discounted price is shown.

Order Problems and Contacting Customer Service
(Including Returns/Replacements for Wrong Item or Damaged/Defective Item)

Question: I am trying to place an order and have entered my correct shipping address, billing address and credit card info. The check out page says there is a problem with my information and I need to correct it, but nothing is incorrect. What is going on?!
Answer:
This is a random error that seems to affect some people and not others. There is no known cause for it. People have reported it occurring with different credit card companies (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.). Some people think it has to do with what web browser you use, so perhaps try a different one. Some people have reported they can't place orders from computers or IP numbers located out of the state where their billing or shipping address is located. The bottom line is there is no fix for this problem from the customer's end. Your only attempt to get it resolved will be to CALL Customer Service. Contact details for Customer Service can be found below this FAQ.

Question: GoHastings.Com sent me a defective game or the wrong game. How do I return it? Can they send me a replacement/correct item?
Answer:
Contact customer service to initiate the return process. Customer service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ. GoHastings.Com will not charge you to ship the game back, and they will give you a full refund, including what you paid initially for shipping. In some instances, they will simply refund the cost of the item and let you keep the defective or wrong item for free. GoHastings.Com will not normally send you a replacement item if you received a defective or incorrect item. They will usually tell you that you must place a new order, at which time the promotion you initially ordered under may have expired. You can try to contact customer service to see if they will create a new order for you with the price point you originally ordered under.

Question: Something went wrong with my order. How do I contact customer service?
Answer:
Customer service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ.

Question: Should I call or email customer service?
Answer:
CAGs have reported mixed experiences with both calling and emailing Hastings Customer Service. It is up to your preference. If you are contacting them regarding credit card issues, it may be best to call rather than put highly sensitive information in an email. If you call during business hours, your issue may be resolved right then over the phone. You might also have to wait on hold for a long period of time during peak hours. If you email, you may have to wait up to 48 hours to get a response, especially if you email over the weekend. Often the email replies fail to understand your entire issue with your order. Customer Service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ.

Question: What is GoHastings.Com return policy?
Answer:
The GoHastings.Com website states their return policy is as follows:

All items purchased through gohastings.com may be returned for a full refund of the purchase price, if they meet the following criteria:

 • All new items are in original unopened packaging.
 • Return of product is within 30 days of shipping date.
 • Returned product(s) must be in the original packaging and include any manuals, cabling and accessories in saleable condition.
 • Video Game Systems that are found defective within the 30 day window must make a return using the manufacturer's warranty.
Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.
Note: Products purchased through goHastings.com may not be returned to a physical store location for refund.
However, this can be confusing considering used items, such as games, come in opened packaging. Normally GoHastings has no problem with returns for defective or incorrect used game shipments that are promptly requested. At the very least, if a game item was found to be defective within 30 days of the shipping date, you would have a good argument toward customer service that you should be able to return the game item. Abusing the return policy to replace your own broken items with items from GoHastings inventory wouldn't be a good idea.

Question: Where are Hastings brick and mortar retail stores located?
Answer:
Question: Are the online prices the same in store? Are the online specials valid in store?
Answer:
Generally speaking, no. For used items and for some new items, GoHastings.Com uses algorithms where prices can change multiple times in one day. Hastings retail locations have their own set prices. See your local store for more information. Additionally, online special sales and promotions are not valid in store. Sometimes Hastings runs the same pricing online and in store for certain items.

Question: Are the brick and mortar retail location advertisements valid online?
Answer:
Generally the prices in the retail location advertisements are not valid on GoHastings.Com. Sometimes Hastings runs the same pricing online and in store for certain items.
DC is not tracking, its just delivery confirmation, so therefore post offices are not required to do anything but scan on delivery. A lot of post offices are pretty good about scanning it along the way, but sometimes things dont get scanned, so if you dont see anything on your DC #, then I wouldnt worry unless in a few weeks you dont get it.
That's not true. Delivery Confirmation comes with tracking info, but only if you check it online since the post office does not have a record of it. I've always had tracking info though for my packages with DC.

This is from the site directly
Delivery and/or attempted delivery information, including date and time of delivery as well as the delivery location of the item, can be accessed through the following (you will need the Delivery Confirmation label number):
probably sent via parcel post, it wont update until its at your local post office. Its more delivery confirmation, than actual tracking.
It always tracks, but the speed the tracking info updates seem to be varied depending on the type of service it was sent. I've had faster updates with First class and priority, but media mail and parcel are always slow to update. But of course this is just from experience as I don't work for USPS so I have no idea how it works. It does track, but very slowly sometimes.

Got King of FIghters XIII (PS3) for $21.94 by pairing it along with the latest Smashing Pumpkins album and a DVD for my daughter.

I freakin' love GoHastings.com--I've scored so many great prices on books, CD's, and games in the past year or so that they're probably my favorite site next to Amazon. The used stuff they sell is always in like-new condition, and any issues I've had are a result of USPS damage.

squarehead, my point was that delivery confirmation doesnt not HAVE to include tracking information other than delivery information. What you quoted off the site basically says the same thing, that you get information about DELIVERY or ATTEMPTED DELIVERY. They are NOT required to provide more than that when you buy DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, which is what it is that hastings buys. Any time you buy postage off paypal or anything like that, the only thing they guarenee is confirmation of delivery.Thats not to say that postage sites WONT scan in transit, just that they are not REQUIRED to. Most of them still do.
You need to chill out Bro. Don't bring that hostility here.
Look brah, people need to think before they post and stop spreading outright wrong facts and rumors. Nothing that guy had to say regarding Hastings' shipping was factually correct and if no one speaks up, he's going to continue to spread the BS he was spreading in that post. And that's only going to confuse or put off people who are new to Hastings or don't understand Hastings as it is. Just because its the internet and people can spout off whatever they want, it doesn't make it right to do so.

Understandable.

I ordered from hastings 3 times.

They are legit

Oh, so it does have to include it. ;D

I j/k. But yeah, I understand what you were trying to say.

Yea, thats what happens when you type at work and dont take time to proofread

I received several books in the mail today. I'm a bit disappointed. One of them was a paperback with a non-glossy cover. The cover is really dirty and there is a library stamp across the top of the pages. (I assume it got dirty being handled as a library book.) So I can't clean the book if I want to keep it. And the library stamp annoys me because ex-library books don't qualify as "Very Good" from an Amazon or eBay perspective. Had I bought that book on those sites, this would be in dispute. So I might return it. I received a TPB comic with a remainder mark on it, which was kind of annoying but I paid like $1.40 for it so I'll let it slide. A paperback book I bought had a huge cover crease and had a giant permanent marker X across the top of the pages. I don't know if that's a remainder mark, or someone's own fucked up way of marking a book as no good. I'll probably keep that book and try to sand off the permanent marker. Another TPB comic I got was in decent condition. The three hardcovers I got were also acceptable even if I wished they were in better condition.

And the poly bags are out in full force. I got 2 bubble mailers and 5 poly bags. I don't think the packaging played any noticeable role here because all of these books were significantly handled before ever getting shipped to me.

Hastings won't take my money. :(

I was getting the "your billing address doesn't match even though it's correct" error. Saw it in the FAQ here but the purchase would still go through after trying the suggestions. Contacted Hastings and they said the same thing it says in the FAQ.

Now I'm getting a different error that says "Sorry, go back and try again".

Anyone else getting these errors?

Anyone else getting these errors?
The Go back and try again one has been popping up for me over the past week and a half or so. The only solution is to go back and try again. One time it took me a couple of hours to place an order. Other times it just takes two or three attempts in a row.

My first order shipped and I know complained about their shipping but they shipped it in two packages, both Priority so I'll get over it.

Hopefully my order package ships soon.
Well Hastings has yet to refund me on my order even though they emailed me last week telling me they would. Emailed them.back. Hopefully its sorted.
Refunds take awhile to process from them for some reason. I always have to wait about a week and a half to get a refund processed, but they always go through.

Hastings has always told me to allow up to 10 days to get a refund back. I usually get it that week, 4-5 days later, but have had to wait the full 10 days before. Im sure there are probably factors that vary it, maybe method of payment, debit vs credit or what card you use? Not sure.

I'm getting the same thing and trying multiple times is not helping. This is a common problem I have on their site however, and then they usually flip or switch or something and it works normal right before the sale is over.

They ship via USPS and yes they use tracking. You will receive a notification when it ships, and it will contain all tracking information.

Keep in mind that most (if not all) of your items will be shipped separately from various store locations, which is why the shipping charge is what it is. It is actually a bit cheaper than expected as when I ship via a USPS kiosk, a game (DVD size case) will cost me $2.85 on average -- if I take it to the post office, it's closer to $3 if not over $3.

but then again, you can ship 3 games in one packet for $3.25, and gohastings charges you $7 dollars, so I guess it all works out in the end.

since you cant ship games media mail, id be very surprised if it only costs $3.25 to ship 3 games in 1 packet, although Im not familiar with parcel post rates a 1 lb rate was about $5 last time I checked.

Thanks. It looks like one shipped yesterday and the others today. I still don't have a notification but I'll be on the lookout for one.

Is it the standard 5-7 days shipping?

I just returned 4 games to them, and paid my own shipping because I wanted delivery confirmation, and 1st class (not parcel, which is what they offer with their return labels) and it was only $3.28. Games are not heavy, especially since most skim on manuals nowadays.

if you didnt get a tracking number with the shipping email, then you wont get one. The tend to ship first class with shipments of 3 or less items. Which is usually 3 days. If it was a shipment of more than 3 games or just heavyieritems, then they ship parcel which can be from 2-8 days depending on how far you are from where they shipped it.

Sorry, I should have been clear earlier that I never received an email at all for the shipping. I just checked on the Order Status page. Yesterday, 1 item shipped while the others were in Progress and today they all say Shipped.

They offer Media Mail return for books, DVDs, and CDs, not Parcel Post. There is a slight difference between the two. Their return label for video games is First Class Mail. I'm looking at it right now.

Are you trying to imply Hastings is somehow making a profit off of their shipping?

As you know, games in general around usually over 3 ounces, closer to 4 if not higher, when they have solid cases and manuals. If a company is skimping on manuals and using those lighter recycle friendly cases, it's probably closer to 3 ounces a game. So you can get 3 games in a package and mail it First Class Mail. 4 games would be cutting it awful close but its still possible.

13 ounces (the max for First Class Mail) does cost $3.28 to ship using the eBay/PayPal discount w/ DC, not counting any handling costs (i.e. packaging, other resources).

But say you ship one game at 4 ounces, including packaging? $1.81 w/DC using the PayPal/eBay discount. That means Hastings charges $0.47 more, assuming they get a shipping discount too. Without the discount I think its like $2.12 at the Post Office (without DC, which I think the PO charges $0.75 for?). Anyway, that $0.47 then has to account for shipping materials like labels and ink and packaging. And probably the employees they pay to solely do online orders. If Hastings has to send you every game in your order individually, they might make a few dimes of profit, maybe, and that's assuming they get a shipping discount from USPS.

I think it would be pretty rare to have three games ship together in the same package from Hastings. I've ordered hundreds of items from Hastings and usually 2 items together is the max I've personally received from them. But I'm sure someone will chime in and say Hastings is always shipping 4 items together to them so Hastings is constantly ripping them off with shipping. But I'd still say instances of them shipping multiple games in one package and pocketing a few bucks from the combined shipping are just a small fraction of all of the individual packages they send out. So their shipping costs are pretty legitimate for shipping one item out per package.

Yea, 3 oz is really cutting it light. Ive shipped thousands (not an exaggeration) of games and movies and average about 5 oz per package, about 1/2-1 oz of that is packaging material (invoices, envelope, etc), so each one averages about 4 oz. 4 games X 4 oz would average 16 oz. + packing materials. If you shipped for 13 oz, then you got better than average for weight, but Id hardly use that to create an average shipping cost.

The point im trying to make is whoever was trying to sugarcoat the shipping prices was plain wrong. Look you get items in single packets, I tend to only make large orders from them, and I tend to rarely get items in single packets. Just from my last order on Sunday, its 3-2-2-1 as far as shipment sizes go. There's no way Im not getting screwed on shipping from that, but whatever I deal with it, yet I would never try to justify it.

Also, Ive never had a return label in first class form from them. Perhaps its because I usually only do returns of multiple games that were damaged because they were sent via parcel post across the county in an envelope, which anyone who ships via USPS knows thats a risky ordeal. I wish they offered me first class returns, it would be nice to get a refund in 5 days like this last one that I shipped out myself, instead of the usual 10-12 days.

Anyways thanks to the CAG hastings guy for lifting my security hold, so I could make my final order.

Ive made a lot of orders that total over 20 items, and rarely do i get more than 2 together at a time. Its all circumstantial evidence, just because you get lots of bulk package doesnt make it the norm, just because i get individual packages doesnt mean thats the norm either. But they really arent making huge money off shipping is something almost everyone can agree....

Hovering over the Place Order button for FFXIII and FFXIII-2, plus a blu-ray, for ~$22 but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger since the majority of the cost is attributed to shipping. :(

EDIT: Pulled the trigger when I found out they had an anime DVD I needed in order to finish a collection. :p

I just don't think it's practical for Hastings to trust in the customer to know the exact weight of everything they are sending back to them to give them the option of sending it back First Class Mail. The customers who are not CAG or savvy shoppers will probably not know the different between First Class Mail and Parcel Post in regards to the weight limit. For Hastings to put that trust in the customers' hands is too risky since if the customer doesn't use the right packaging, or somehow gets the package overweight beyond the First Class Mail limit, the ones who will be paying the extra postage for the upgrade in price will be Hastings. And the USPS usually from my prior experience upgrade it to Priority shipping just to spite the person sending it as incorrect postage. It would be logical for them to upgrade it to Parcel instead to be fair, but I've had packages that were sent Media Mail with games inside, but arrived as Priority Mail at which time the postmen asked me to pay for the difference, which I reject and it has to get sent back to sender, and then it just got messier from there.

They may be making a little bit off of the shipping initially, but you have to think about how much they are giving back each time somebody returns something, and with how often things are returned, I can't imagine them really making out like a bandit, even when things are sent in the same package. They not only refund you the original shipping they spent shipping your order but they are also paying for the return postage label as well. If anything, it's probably evening itself out in the end with maybe some profit from the shipping, but I doubt it's their biggest money maker.

In regards to the single packages though, it doesn't really matter how big your order is to be honest. The order I just made with 10 items in it are coming from 7 different stores, and only 1 of them is a multiple item package. I've also had separate orders that were made at different times but one item from each order shipped together. If you're ordering common items they will most likely ship from the same stores. If you order more obscure things or titles that aren't the most popular, they'll most likely come separate. But really the point I want to make is that Hastings has no way to tell exactly what the weight of the package the customers will be sending to them. If the weight of the package is over what the label printed out has for them, then the only difference is that they pay for the extra cost of the weight, but not for an entirely different type of postage cost. Your average customer will not be as savvy as you think to be able to work out of the weight of each package and say,

"Well, if I want to send this first class, I'll have to make sure the games don't have a manual in it that way it can average 2.5oz -3oz per game, but I also need to make sure this calculation only applies to eco cases and also to 360 games. Conversely if I look at PS3 games, the calculations per game weight will be...." and so on.

It would be great if all customers thinks like that, but unfortunately many of them do not or ever will.

hmm...I ordered Kane & Lynch Dead Men previously viewed on Friday and it still says in progress. Never had a hastings order take this long to ship. The item says out of stock now. I wonder if they can't find it in the store or something.

usually when this happens you'll get an email with them appologizing and canceling your item
its happened to 3 items in one of my last orders. And yah the email came about a week after I placed my order. If it goes through though lucky you.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm about to get 3 cancellations tonight since its been a week for one of my orders and 3 items haven't shipped.

You can also check your order status through their website. If an item is canceled sometimes you don't get a cancellation email from Hastings due to a glitch on their website, and you will only get the final email from the order after everything has been fulfilled in that said order. The best way to check a status of the order to see if it's been cancelled is to check the order status online directly. That's what I do if it's been a little too long for some of my items in an order to arrive, and it is most accurate through the order status online if it has been canceled.

Put in an order about four hours ago for 2 games and 4 books for ~55 dollars and now my order screen says "in process" but out of stock on all times. Awesome.

*Sigh* Read the FAQ if you can't figure it out for yourself. As in, you know, maybe it was your order that claimed the last of the stock on those items.

Eh, that's one thing that was also brought up from the conversation a couple weeks back.

That's actually not even supposed to show anything but it's actually a glitch with their website. I asked the Director of the e-Commerce team about it and she says it's actually NOT supposed to show anything at all, lol. So yeah, sorry to get back to you so late on that one kodave, lol.

I understand its semi-confusing, especially if you don't look at it right away, but most of the complaints in this thread are along the lines of "Just ordered, checked order history immediately after, it shows OOS, WTF?"

To me, it seems like with a little common sense, you could easily deduce that they only had one of the item in stock and you just purchased it, so now it is showing as OOS to prevent other people from making orders that can't and won't be fulfilled. I have a feeling these same reactions and complaints would pop up if people just went back and randomly checked certain items and saw they were now OOS.

That still doesn't prevent some of the other reasons for cancellation, but it should quell the freak outs about "everything going OOS right after I ordered!"

After code...

Uncharted Vita around $20
PS3 DMC Collection around $20
Sly Collection $13
SSF4:AE $13

Really tempted but damn my backlog is screaming at me and I spent a ton already...

Me too, been shopping there now for what 3-4 years now. However I can remember 2-3 times now they've sent packages to me stuffed with DVD's I think they've been 6-8 in a big mailer, I was literally shocked to see that smashed into my mailbox every time. And then got a bit angry over paying $15 for shipping and seeing on the label they spent $7 to ship it to me.

I know those are exceptions rather than the rule, but still....when I do upwards of $100 a purchase on good sales and have like 15 items being sent to me, I would like for them not to be send clown car style considering I'm paying for separate shipping for each item. 2-3 per package is acceptable, but 6-8 is NOT if its coming in a bubble mailer, if they want to do that in a box, I've got no problems with that, but not in bubble mailer or plastic bag shipper. NOT for the price I'm paying for shipping anyway.

This was/is an awesome sale coupled with the lowered prices on a lot of the items I bought, but I would like to know the status of items as well as I'm still waiting on a chuck norris movie and a game and their limbo status right now, I'm hoping for the best as Hastings has only cancelled a very small number of my orders in the past. My first order on Sat. morning, I seriously expected cancellations and everything shipped within 1 day, order 2 placed Mon., one shipped out right away, then two others in progress (what I mentioned). So we'll see, but I'm hoping to see shipping confirmations today or tomorrow, **crosses fingers**.

They're not a perfect company, but they will continue to get my business if they continue with great deals, good prices and cheaper (than most) shipping costs and good customer support.

My other items should be showing up soon, so the mail lady isn't going to be thrilled with me in the next few days.

I just tried placing an order on Hastings and thought it was completed.

Then I checked my bank account and the amount was deducted/paid to Hastings.
But when I checked my order history on Hastings, the item doesn't appear.

Already e-mailed them since it's still too early to call, but has this ever happened before? :cold:
