The Last Guardian officially canceled (Not canceled according to Sony)

Just a rumor... Scott Rhode on Twitter deconfirmed it. And IGN further discredits their credibility. Hats off to you IGN.

Didn't know there was an IGN Russia until tonight.

I'm usually an IGN fan, but a story like that MUST be approved by Colin, Tal, and Fran collectively to be published, not published by IGN Russia. Too many people giving fake info and as you all have said, ruins IGN's credibility.

Isn't Steve Butts (the person who published the article), the Editor in Chief of IGN?

IGN is now reporting their source as Sony Russia. I'm not going to say I completely trust Sony in this until I see something.

The last time they showed this publicly was E3 2009 I think... It would make a ton of sense for it to be a PS4 game and E3 is just days away, so I'm hoping we see something. If not, I'm going to go ahead and assume it's been canned.

Except the developer themselves announced it is not canceled. Honestly if after all this time they were going to cancel, they just would. The fact that people keep saying it is not is actually a promising idea

I'm well aware of who said what but that doesn't change the fact at hand: since it was shown in 2009, we've seen almost nothing new, outside of Ueda's shaky relationship with Sony.

I honestly don't believe it is cancelled, given that it probably cost a crap ton of money to make. However, if it was cancelled, I doubt Sony would admit to it just before E3, since they would be a huge distraction.

The fact that IGN had to issue an official apology yesterday is obviously a good sign though.

It's kind of funny how the only things I would pay full price for in a second aren't even close to becoming reality. Last Guardian is one of them. I wouldn't even read a single review. That's one of two games I would buy blindly and not be cynical about. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is another one. They just aren't ever coming out.

Spirited Away on Blu-Ray is another when it comes to movies. I would pay MSRP right now.

I'm just going to trust IGN for no reason because Sony said nothing about TLG at E3.

So it's cancelled and doesn't exist and I'm putting my head in the sand.

At least then I can't be disappointed.

Really? Keep waiting? That's the best he's got? We've been waiting over 5 years!
That seems like a perfectly fine answer to me. It's honest, takes responsibility for the game not being out yet, and admits that they'll have more information when it is ready to be presented. Sure, it's disappointing that he doesn't have more information for us now, but everyone who got hyped to see it at E3 have only themselves to blame.

Honestly, this is a win-win for IGN. They get a ton of hits saying it's canceled, then more hits when they retract. Now that it didn't show, they can post a new article every month along the lines of "Here's why we think TLG is canceled", whereas had it been announced, there would have been a ton of articles about the game and how it "fought to avoid being forgotten". In short, fuck IGN.

If they aren't showing The Last Guardian yet, but are not afraid to show games 2+ years ahead of time, I don't know quite how to take that in terms of where they are in development exactly.

Of course, the games they show 2+ years ahead of time haven't had the trouble TLG has had...but just sayin...

I'm betting they are waiting for Gamescom or TGS, especially with it being a Japanese developed game... I can hope?!
