CAGiversary!
Anyone here play in a softball league?... tonight during my first at bat I ground to the shortstop, see him bobble a bit, and know I will beat the throw... just after touching first... I feel my face smash and I buckle to the ground... after being stunned for 30 seconds, I use my tongue to check for missing teeth, luckily none...

2 skined knees, a huge cut inside my mouth, and a ballooned out left side of my face later, I'm pretty out of it.

Anyone have similar stories from softball.. it's supposed to be recreational... it's not HS baseball or anything.

No.

After I went to get ice our RF got hit in the back with the same play, the first baseman was a fat old fuck who shouldn't be playing, get off the bag to stop the throws asshole.

I should have been more pissed at him, but I made out the best possible way.

It didn't hit my temple, jaw, eye, ear... I could be severely hurt.
This thread would be better with a pic or two.
Yeah, really. If there's no "and then I kicked his ass" story, at least show the damage.

+1 pics or it didn't happen ... this is the internet after all.

In exchange:
I was playing center field with some buddies who play on semi legit teams. We were just knocking the around a few and hanging. Needless to say I tried to showboat and took a nice line drive right into my shin...

"What Would Destro Do"?

Before I jacked my shoulder up I would play third base. During tournament in Florida some 260 pound mountain of muscle hit a line drive that hit off my chest and rolled all the way to the backstop. I never saw it until it was twenty feet away from me rolling away. Everybody there said you could hear a ping and a loud thump of it hitting me in the chest almost in succession. I had a huge bruise from that and had a hard time breathing for a week.

My friend was playing 3rd and had a hot grounder hit to him. It took a weird hop and smashed right into his cheekbone. It swelled up about 2 inches in less than 30 seconds. Freaky.

I was pitching when someone hit a grounder right back at me. I've never seen a ball come off a bat so fast. It smashed right into my left shin. This was the third inning of the first game of a doubleheader and we were already short a man. 11 innings later I finally got to put some ice on it. The point of contact eventually was raised up about .75 inch and my entire leg, from ankle to knee, was completely covered and encompassed by a giant purple and yellow bruise. I wear a shinguard when I pitch now.

I've actually been hit 5 times by line drives hit back to me while pitching. Twice I've been drilled on the right thigh which leaves a massive bruise. It's only sore for a couple of days since there's so much muscle surrounding the bone. The worst are the shots right on a bone, like the shin or ankle.

I'm left-handed, and once, just for fun, I went up and batted right-handed. I somehow made great contact and hit a home run. Sorry, no hilarious softball accidents for you!

I'd much rather have that story under my belt...
Shouldn't this have been a Blog too?
My dad dislocated his knee playing catcher in a softball league when a dude twice his size ran into him at home plate.

There isn't a slide rule in my league but no contact is allowed with the catcher. However, the catcher can't block the plate if he's not able to make a play. Basically, it's at the umpire's discretion and their first priority is to make sure no one gets hurt.
