the metal gear ringtone i wish i had

johnmirra

CAGiversary!
You know the sound that the communicator thing in the metal gear series makes, i want that as my ringtone on my phone. I dont know why i felt like making evryone aware of this hahaha
thanks for the praise guys, im surprised i didnt get flamed for like a week about this
It's kinda CAGs fault for having a posting atmosphere where anything and everything is easily ignitable

In fact, I'd go one step further into "annoy the people around you" territory and suggest the "!" noise for texts and such.

that would be great anyone know where or how i could get these sounds on my pc that link above was a wav file and the mobile 17 site dosent work with those

www.mobile17.com
I'm not doubting whether that site is legit or not, but they sure do put a lot of emphasis on not spamming you. Has anyone else here tried that site?

It's a quality site, I don't think I've ever gotten any spam from them, then again I used a junk e-mail to sign up for it anyway. The only bad part about the site is the waiting times between when you send them a file and when they send it to your phone. When the site is busy is can take as long as 3 hours.

OMG, I get my new phone next week and I'm so doing this. I'm pretty sure this would be easy to do with Motorola Phone Tools. Thanks OP for the idea.

Thanks for that also.

Seems that the file size is almost 600KB. For those CAg who want to save some memory, you can reduce the size with Sound Recorder and change the Properties to MPEG-3.

Great idea, OP!

I definately agree with the "!" sound for texts.

Maybe we can get the, "It's just a box," for a missed call or something.

:applause:

I actually laughed at that. What a good idea!
how do i save the file form the wikiupload page?
I think the brown download button on the right?
i tried that and all it did was play it in my windows media player
Go to the top left of your media player and click File and then Save As.

Alright. We have the codec sound. We have the alert sound. I just need one more sound. The sound it makes when you answer the codec thing in the game. That's going to be my "missed call" sound.. I can't find it, though.

I keep searching for the sound files but the closest I've found is a message board of people asking for these and others PMing them to each other.

This is why I love the fact my phone has a Windows OS and can use MP3 ringtones. It's so easy to transfer and use/make ringtones.

Though, I won't be using the codec. It's a bit too intrusive/annoying for my tastes.
You can get all the MGS (and other video game SFX) as alerts for AIM if you have a mac and Adium.
Is it possible to download them?
Sweet. Just used the Verizon trick (send it to "[email protected]") and it worked like a charm.
CAn you explain that a bit more in depth? I have the media on my pix place, but when I save it to my phone, it's just saved as sounds, and it won't let me use those as alerts.

I had this one and the Final fantasy Battle over song(like in the FF7 movie) on my razor when I was with Verizon. Right now Im using virgin mobile because the low amount of calls I made didn't justify me spending $30 a month. I just let everyone leave a voice mail and when I decide to check it I give them a call back and not use my own minutes.

I'm still in a Zelda mood from TP, so my ringtone is the overworld theme, but my personal favorite is the text tone. When i get a text, it's the item chest noise. Not the big long one for like a new weapon (I use that for my voicemail alert), but the short one for like rupees.

There's two possibilities depending on the phone you have. On mine, I have two options when opening the pix message in regards to saving.. save as ringtone or save as sound. I choose save as ringtone.

If you don't have that, just try to save it, then go to change your ringer (menu > sound settings > call sounds > call ringtone, or something similar) and choose it from there.. you'll either see it listed there or "use custom ringtone". If you see the latter, the sound you saved will be at the bottom of the ringtone list.

Gay, I can't do either of those. All I know is I have the V, and I can only save them as sounds. I even checked on my girlfreinds phone (same phone, newer firmware), and she can't do it either.
i started using that codec one. lol

whats good is that it doesnt sound nerdy to normal ppl and only gamers will recognize it
Exactly.

When you open the pix message and hit options, what options do you have? Just "save as sound"? That's weird that you wouldn't be able to save it as a ringtone

What I do for verizon is

1. rename the MP3 file as a wav file
2. Transfer it to my phone via transflash
3. Send it as an attachment to a random number 555-555-5555
4. Once sending is failed, save it as my phone as a sound file
5. apply it as a ringtone.
