the metal gear ringtone i wish i had
When you open the pix message and hit options, what options do you have? Just "save as sound"? That's weird that you wouldn't be able to save it as a ringtone
Yea, that's all I can do, adn I can't use sounds as ringtones or alerts.

That sucks, Sneaky. I got a new phone yesterday and my old phone couldn't do it yesterday.. i'm glad this one can.

Alright.. I made a ringtone that very, very few will appreciate, but I needed it. I made the ring from Snatcher into a ringtone. Snatcher is the game before MGS on the PS1. It stars Gillan Seed and his sidekick, Metal Gear. If you haven't played it.. you're really, really missing out. It's my #1 favorite game of all time.

As usual, the second link is the direct link.
Sweet. Just used the Verizon trick (send it to "[email protected]") and it worked like a charm.
Thanks a ton for this trick! I hope it's free because I've sent myself quite a few things doing this now. :) Oh well, it's worth it.

I sent the Codec and ! sounds to my phone. My phone will only play the file once, so I had to copy and paste the Codec file 5 times into one sound file on my computer to give it enough rings.

Unfortunately my phone will only let me use preset tones for my text messaging, so no ! sound for me there.

The Codec sound works great though.

I've actually been using the Codec and "!" sound for about a year now. The funny thing is a lot of people don't know what those sounds are from. It really surprises me.

I am trying to upload a codec.mid that is 301KB and the friggin website clearly says 400KB limit and keeps saying its too big of a file. Anyone know what to do?

I wish I had the reading rainbow sound effect that plays after a kid finishes talking about a book. I'd like to use that as my text message sound.

Anyone know where I can find this sound in a .mp3 or .wav format?

I use the codec beep for incoming calls. It sounds like a call alert tone, and it's not immediately recognizable as a videogame sound. It's already got that Pavlovian "incoming call" response from playing the games.
Thanks for the Snatcher ringtone, Scorch.
no problem. I'm going to redo it and make it louder, it's really quiet as it currently is.

//edit: Can you upload it if you have it? All the links I posted months ago are down.

You know, I think that someone at 1up.com has that sound as a ringtone. If you listen to the 1up Yours podcast for E3, you can hear it ringing in the background. BTW does anyone have a website where I can have custom ringtones for my Virgin Mobile Kyocera Slider Sonic? Mobile 17 does not have that phone listed ,and I really want the ringtone from the movie Crank as my own.

I ripped nearly every sound effect in MGS back in the day straight from the game disc. Off the top of my head, I know I've got the codec ring, codec open, codec close, item browse, item use, enemy alert, oxygen alert, door error, and the game over jingle.

I used an audio program written specifically for ripping audio from PS1 discs; it must still be available for download everywhere so it should be easy for everybody to rip these sounds themselves.

Would anyone happen to have the proton pack power-up sound, from Ghostbusters, as an audio file?

Yeah, so I noticed. I said thanks before I tried to download it.

It seems like the codec ringtone link is down as well, damnit.
