Since many peoples taste in music vary quickly, (and since the old thread is already off the first page) why dont' we resurect this old dog? I'm currently listening to Radiohead and that one Eamon song (damn its catchy!!!).

I like to listen to GOOD rock bands and music I can skateboard to. Bands like Hot hot heat, interpol, Shins, Sea and cake, Beulah, raveonettes, moving units, Modest mouse, rapture, saves the day, walkmen, broken social scene, built to spill, david bowie, flaming lips, gray matter, guns and roses. I bet a lot of people didn't even read all of that.

I hate those crappy rock bands like the popular ones on MTV and the ones you hear on the radio.

i too like the bands from that list of yours, only a few though: hot hot heat, the shins, raveonettes, modest mouse (gotta love that song, with the chanting..), and the flaming lips. also, flogging molly, with their one single "the likes of you again" it reminds me of hobbits ice skating. ice skating because of south park, brian boy-tonnel(?!). new pornographers, and finally dizzee rascal.

if anyone knows the group that my screen name refers to... yah, they're the best. if u need a hint the guy in my sig is a member...

other than that Im totally into Linkin Park and Evanescence rite now.

but I grew up mostly with rap, Lost Boyz, Capone N Noreaga, Boot Camp Clik, Mobb Deep, DJ Quik, Warren G, Snoop, Bone Thugs. (nowadays rap bores me tho... even the best new albums like Gangstarr and Black Moon are quickly pushed aside)

and you cant forget 90's rock. Green Day, Nirvana, freakin SMASHING PUMPKINS!!

dang I listen to everything...

yeah new pornographers are pretty dope. I have the fake headlines on my MP3 player. Glad to find someone who isn't into the more "popular" rock because I just can't stand it. I don't even know why but I just can't stand it! i wish rock was what it was back then.

Yep, I dont' get it either. Just because people like popular bands/singers doesn't mean their lower than you or media brainwashed. They just like the sound of it. So few people listen to a certain brand of music for the "look", but that seems to be what everyone wants to believe, and its what leads to fights between the mainstream and underground scence. Just accept what people like and stfu about it.

I'm not saying that their dumbasses or anything. I'm just saying that I can't stand it. I like some of the popular bands like Radiohead, Postal Service, the vines and the Strokes but I don't like the other one's like Linkin Park and whatnot (nothing personal to the above poster). I like wahtever sounds good, but to me, the underground bands sound MUCH more better than MOST of the pop ones. Just my opinion!

i'm listening to slightly stoopid, pepper, sublime, eek-a-mouse, dubcat, bargain music, the expendables and the bfoundation.

As Hope Dies, End This Day, As I Lay Dying, The Agony Scene, Zao, Undying, In Flames (pre-clayman), Cannae, Wings of Scarlet, With Dead Hands Rising, It Dies Today, and a lot of Game/Anime OSTs.

I just went through my cd collection and traded probably about 75% of it in. Just got tired of it sitting around collecting dust - too many disks with only one or two good songs. I kept my collections of a few artists that I really like tho - Bjork, The Smashing Pumpkins, KMFDM, NIN, Nirvana, and of course my Roxette.

Yes, freakin' Roxette. :)

yeah, i guess most people tend to listen to those more mainstream rock bands because they're more well known or something. but sometimes, they just suck, COUGHlinkinparkCOUGH, and their songs get on my nerve, too repetitive(?) and such. and yes, the new pornographers really are dope, even though i don't have the cd, i do have like 3 of their songs. but i would like to go out and get their cd though, see, downloading music CAN be good. anyways, best single of theirs, Mass Romantic.

Okay, I'm old--I have heard of maybe three of the bands anyone has posted about.
Recently I've been listening to:
Butthole Surfers
King Missile
Inkubus Sukkubus
Christian Death
queued up next in the player:
soundtracks to Run Lola Run and Rock and Rule

i listen to different music. Eminem, Tupac, (sometimes Fiddie cent, though he gets annoying after awhile) Linkin Park fo sho', Limp Biz, Audioslave, Ludacris, basically anything rock/metal, hard rap (aka DMX eminem).

As for that catchy new Eamon song, I thought that the world couldn't get any more stupid until a gay guy grabs his crotch a lot and swears with his annoyingly high pitched voice song in the entire music video. Then he waves his hands up in the air like, 'yeah, feel me bro, i'm the shit because i grab my crotch' even though his hair is poofy and he has some tight sweater that makes him look GAY. and the fact that his voice still hasn't cracked and he looks about 20 something. What- what- what up Gangstaa.

hey, hows everyone doing? i normally dont post, just lurk and read the boards, but this post caught my eye. i currently listening to acceptance, stutterfly, dead poetic, jenoah, blindside, and the new lost prophets cd. peace out

the Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Songs: Ohia, are a few of my faves.

I definitely agree that people listen to popular music just to be cool, but it also goes the other way some people listen to underground music just to be "underground" (see scenesters). And to me most of the "scenesters" are just as annoying as the people who listen to popular music to be cool. I definitely agree that you should listen to what you like regardless.

I usually don't post to often also, but thought I would throw my 2 cents here.

Right now I am really digging The Horrorpops! It is like 50's surf and 50's Do-wop combined with the sound of a "B" Horror movie. Okay, okay, I am not a reviewer, but that is the best description I could come up with. If you haven't heard of them, check them out!

Other bands I like - Jet, Raveonettes, Jack Off Jill (Lead singer is in a new band now, Scarling...pretty good too), Pearl Jam and the big kicker, Christina Aguilera! I had this whole paragraph writing to defend why I like her, but I am just going to give the short version: I didn't want to like her...not at all, then I heard her music. I loved it! That says a lot, when you go into something wanting to hate it and you can't!

Anyways, love the thread, I need to check out some of the bands that were listed here! Have a good one!

Sounds fun, I'll try them when I get home.
Have you heard the [I think] most recent Misfits albums, American Psycho and Famous Monsters? They're not surf or doowop, but they're 'power pop/punk' [ie, there's actually a little bit of melody and tune to it, and you can understand the lyrics, which in some cases are actually *sung*] based on a lot of B-horror/cult movies, ranging from Them! to Poltergeist and Boxing Helena [not quite a horror movie, but the way they do it, it turns out being one.]
I actually *sacrilege* think I like these couple of albums better than most of the original Misfits' work. Part of that may just be te improvement in mastering technology recently, the new ones are easier to listen to.

I will have to try them out. I go enjoy a good Power Punk song and mixed with B-Horror....It has sparked my interest! Thanks for the heads up. I will give those discs a listen. I do enjoy the Misfits other stuff, but really haven't listened to them in long while.

i still listen to rammstein mainly, and rob dougan. hell i also listen to the beatles on top of that. but recently ive been listening to a lot of oc remixes. some of those people are skilled. ben lewis's brinstar remix stands out as superb. down load it. now.

Haha, yeah, he does have a REALLY high pitched voice, but that song is catchy as hell.

I know. Hell, it looks to be almost strictly a Canadian tour.

i listen to whatever. mostly comedy cds or talk radio, though, since my favorite albums are the two that were put out by lewis black (the white album and rules of enragement) and the only thing that's ever on while i'm commuting in the mornings is howard stern.

Does anybody Listen to Counting Crows ? There one of my Favorite band along with Pink Floyd . I also listen to alot of old school punk Opperation Ivy, Rancid's older stuff , The Clash , Black Flag and Against all authority .

Anybody like the clarks here. (or even know about them) They're huge in Pittsburgh and Penn State but don't seem to have a national following. I think their music is great. A couple good songs from them are Penny on floor, and Cigarette. I'm also into Rage against the machine, Pearl Jam, and Incubus. Oh and Radiohead's good stuff too.
