The Mystery Limo Wrestling Thread

Justin Gabriel is going to be future endeavored because someone thought that beating up an old man and then having him legitimetely go to the hospital was too much for PG TV.

Oh, nonsense. The schadenfreude surrounding this angle is by and large WWE's own goddamned stupidity. The idea of a single fleeting segment of genius from 4-5 weeks ago crash and burn the way it has in the time frame it has is really fucking funny in my view.

Sullivan... Hogan... Can I get odds on Abyss being a part of Dungeon of Doom 2.0

edit. Myke is right. Danielson and the visa problem are completely the WWEs fault. This is the 1st bad thing that couldn't have been avoided/predicted.
Looks like Steamboat is in the hospital.
Well, that won't be shown again...

Considering it's not related to the NXT angle, I don't see why they wouldn't.

I like it. I'll submit it to marketing.

Bret Hart Responds to Martha Hart Lawsuit
From wrestlinginc.com:
Quote:
I feel that it's ridiculous for anyone to think they are serving the best interests of Owen's memory or his children to pretend he wasn't a wrestler. Not only was he a wrestler, he was a great one and proud of it. I personally believe Martha Hart has done nothing to keep his memory alive and sadly, he fades from view a little more every year. I do suspect this lawsuit is more about publicity, ego, and small-mindedness than it is about pro-wrestling and all of those that are in it.

I know Owen was always proud of his body of work. His fans have never forgotten him and most of today's WWE wrestlers and hundreds of employees have never forgotten him. They speak endlessly of loving memories that speak volumes on what kind of person he was. I saw Owen on TV a few weeks ago against a young Matt Hardy and it put me in such a good mood all day long. Why would anyone want to prevent that? Martha needs to accept the sad truth that he's gone, but we all deserve to be able to salute and honor him for being the great man and the great wrestler that he was. I stopped caring a long time ago about what Martha thinks of me.

We don't speak and I haven't seen Owen's children in 10 years. For what reasons, I couldn't begin to tell you. I personally found great inner peace by opening up to forgiveness and instead supported and encouraged current Hart family members now fulfilling their dreams in the complicated-but-astounding world known as the WWE Universe. She completely ignores the fact that Nattie Neidhart, TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd), and Harry Smith all made a pact when their 12 year old cousin died that they would someday carry on the dream of wrestling in the WWE, this was years before Owen's death and I don't see any reason they should forsake all their dreams. I can't speak more highly of the dedicated, hard working WWE superstars of today.

Having worked with all levels of talent since January, I can honestly say that you won't find a more wholesome bunch of athletes anywhere in any profession. Owen would be proud to be part of what they all are. Martha can say or think whatever the hell she wants but the Hart family as a whole found a way to forgive and move on for the sake of the next generation's well-being. Just because Owen died doesn't mean the Hart legacy from Stu down to his wrestling sons and grandchildren has to die too. The best thing I can do for Owen's kids is take them backstage and introduce them to all the people who love and remember their dad. Owen is loved and missed everyday. Why Martha would insist they never know these people is sad and pathetic.

I believe Owen would turn in his grave watching Martha erase every single thing he ever did, all for spite. Martha Hart needs to celebrate Owen's memory as much as possible, not block it away forever. How stupid and selfish is that? In her own book, she wrote how even though she was angry at Vince, she didn't hate him and that she felt he was truly sorry about what happened. She had written him a letter in order for her to move on and be at peace. Maybe she should practice what she preached.

Impact's got a good match listing, with AJ-Joe, Ink Inc.-Guns, and Wolfe-Kendrick. This Nexus angle seems cursed, but luckily, Steamboat's in stable condition and his aneurysm isn't believed to be caused by the angle. I doubt the 450 hurt him, but wouldn't be surprised if it was due to Otunga's spinebuster since he's so damned green. Wow, that Bret-Owen match came just two days after a Cap Centre match I saw them in.

Owen is on a very short list of guys that I feel deserved a World Title run and never got one. His work as a heel against his brother proved that he could go at the highest of levels and his "Black Hart" persona immediately following Bret's departure to WCW was pretty great as well. If Austin hadn't been so well positioned, and admittedly, a better candidate to replace HBK as champion/face of the WWF, a Owen/HBK feud could have been huge.

Downloading the match now, I hope it lives up to their steel cage match from... Summerslam 94?

I have a huge list of matches that I could put up. I just don't know what I can and cannot post.

I think I have their Summerslam match...
Can I call dibs on the next wrestling thread?
Ricky Steamboat's condition has been upgraded to stable, but he is likely to be hospitalized for some time after suffering a brain aneurysm last night in Tampa.
Get well Ricky.

Damn you. I just came to post about how I wanted the next thread to be the Titus O'Neil "Make it a win!" wrestling thread. :(

So is it weird that I read the Bret interview thing completely in his voice? Anyway, while reading that, I thought that he was right, Owen's legacy shouldn't just be swept under the rug. But then I got to thinking about it... Look at Eddie. He's mentioned every once in a while on TV. At the same time, how many times has he been used to continue a storyline, even subtly? It's a double edged sword, but I think Owen would have perferred the latter, just so he can remain in wrestling lore.

That Bret Owen Ironman match goes into Sudden Death Overtime, the quality sucks, but the match is awesome, and it even kinda has commentary.

Great show match-wise, but man was the "acting" on it terrible. Humorously though, however, with Dixie doing an incredible job at seeming like the most gullible human being on planet Earth. Then there's So Cal Val's attempt at cowering in terror from King Kong to further add to the comedy value on the show. Abyss's Kang and Kodos-swatter was also pretty funny, which probably isn't the reaction I should have to a giant spiked board, but it's the only one I can have due to the Simpsons and also RVD and Jeff moving the weapon away from themselves, but towards the fans. Great move.

Guns-Ink Inc was a good little tag match, and while I usually hate the "dumb face gets distracted and loses" spot, at least they had it happen to the rookie here and not the veteran. Joe-AJ was a Cliff's Notes version of every match they've ever had, but was very good by Impact standards. Kendrick-Wolfe was also about as good as I expected for a TV match, and was made better by Williams being on commentary pointing out how stupid it is for him to be wrestling in a ladder match right before an Ultimate X match AND using the word "uncooth". Great man that Douglas Williams. Jeff Hardy-Abyss was perfectly fine stuff overall despite Jeff seeming to be on another planet during the show.

First, he asked Hogan and Eric if they saw what Abyss did in the ring WHILE THEY WERE OUT THERE, and during the match, he barely connected with stuff like a plancha, and "hit" a Twist of Fate in such a way that it appeared to break his shoulder. Abyss's new black and silver gear is a massive improvement over his red and yellow stuff and actually has a slimming look to it. Despite them building up Abyss for Hogan, he lost here. And just to make sure you know you're only supposed to care about Abyss-RVD in the PPV main event, they had Tenay say that Abyss was RVD's primary rival.

Lethal-Morgan was a little better than I was expecting, but the booking didn't really help anyone. The win didn't help Lethal, the loss didn't hurt Morgan since Hernandez jumped him, and Hernandez looked cowardly for attacking Morgan from behind. However, the video package they had for Flair-Lethal ruled, and it's a shame that the match isn't being given a spot on a more important show.

Pope's return couldn't have been better. They built it up with one of their best video packages to date that made him seem like the biggest star in wrestling, then he came out, got a huge reaction, cried as a result, and cut his usual Pope-tacular promo. Angle came out, put him over, said he was the future, but also said that he'd have to beat Pope to win the title again. I really could've done without them tacking on a retirement stip if he loses. The storyline doesn't need it, it doesn't add anything to the match, and the timing for it is terrible since it's the same damn thing Flair had to do two years ago if he lost, which he did, and now he's not only wrestling again, but doing so on the show that they're introducing the retirement stip on. Aside from that problem, oh, and Angle being billed at number 10 on the Pope-Angle graphic when he should be 9 since he beat Wolfe, I loved this.

AT 80%, I STILL HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO BE THE POPE OF THIS CONGREGATION! AND WHILE I’M AT 80%, I wanna make this real clear - Anderson, I called ya Julia, this thing between you and I isn’t over, and while you’re pulling the wool over some eyes, but not mine. I can get dirty too, just ask one man, four syllables - Sui-I-CA-DEE! People ask why I’m in the top 10, simple, I’M THE CADILLAC OF PRO WRESTLING. DIGGING THE GREEN WITH A GANSTA LEAN DADDY! Onto this ranking. Pope is here for one reason - to stake my claim. I’m not backing out of this thing. Pope wants to get back to the numba one position so I can rightfully take on the TNA World champion and make history in this company, the greatest company in the world, TNA! TNA, THE CONGREGATION, AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT POPE IS PIMPIN. That’s right. CAN POPE GET AN AMEN!? (Angle comes out)
Angle - First of all, welcome back, Pope. We all missed you.
Pope - Good to see ya.
Angle - Lately In TNA, since you got here, you been making a lot of noise. You and the congregation. And I wanna tell you that I’m a big fan. When I see you, I see the future of TNA, and the future is bright. but like you, I’m trying to climb the rankings for a shot at the TNA Title. Unfortunately, our paths have crossed in the rankings, so at Victory Road, it’s gonna be the Pope versus Kurt Angle. For you, that’s good because you’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose. But for me, I’ve got everything to lose since my next loss could be my last match. I want to shake your hand and say may the best man win.
Pope - I look forward to It.
Angle - One more thing, Pope. I MUST BE VICTORIOUS!
Tenay - IF ANGLE LOSES IN HIS QUEST, IT’S HIS LAST MATCH EVER!
Velvet - Go to ShopTNA.com and buy something.
Lethal - Last week, while wrestling Kazarian, AJ and Flair, a man I no longer respect, BEAT UP MY BROTHER. I’M BEGGING THEM TO COME OUT. I SWEAR TO GOD, I’M NOT LEAVING THIS RING UNTIL AJ OR FLAIR GET THEIR BUTTS OUT HERE!
Morgan - Jay, I’m sorry to interrupt ya like this. WHO AM I KIDDING? NO I’M NOT! 2 WEEKS AGO, FLAIR CAME OUT HERE AND TOLD THE WORLD THAT HE’S GONNA FORM FORTUNE! AND MUCH TO THE SURPRISE OF NOBODY, I WAS THE FIRST PERSON HE ASKED TO JOIN! Thank you! I respect Ric Flair for having the wisdom to come to TNA’s biggest and toughest dog, but I haven’t made my mind up just yet. Jay, you might wanna listen to this part. There was one thing we could agree on (cheap shots Jay) AND THAT’S KICKING YOUR ASS!
Tenay - JAY’S USUALLY SO HAPPY!
Tenay - Have you had any confirmation of Morgan’s claim?
Taz - I dunno. I’m not on Ric Flair’s e-mail list.
Tenay - Really!?
Taz - I would not wanna be strapped inside a steel cage with Hernandez if I was Matt Morgan.
Abyss - WITH EACH NAIL, I HELP THEM COME CLOSER TO HELPING THEM TAKE OVER TNA! THIS REALLY LOOKS LIKE IT’LL HURT SOMEBODY!
Tenay - It’s strange that Taylor’s partner isn’t here. I’ve heard about some issues they’ve had on Xplosion but I’m not sure what they are!
Taz - Watch the product - you’ll see.
(as she beats up Taylor)Sarita - YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT!
Dixie - Steve, we need to talk.
Sting - Great, so now you see?
Dixie - Yes. THAT YOU’VE BECOME A CANCER IN TNA! Effective tonight, you’re suspended for 30 days without pay.
Sting - After everything we’ve been through? 30 DAY SUSPENSION!? YOU THINK IT’S ABOUT MONEY!?
Dixie - No. YOU KEEP SPEAKING IN THIS CRYPTIC LANGUAGE!
Sting - YOU’RE BEING CONNED. I’VE BEEN SAYING IT ALL ALONG. I’LL SPEAK IN CHILDLIKE TERMS FOR YOU NOW.
Bischoff - ENOUGH! DIXIE, THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS. YOU NEED 24/7 PROTECTION!
Tenay - THAT BOARD IS LOADED WITH NAILS!
Taz - WHOS THE THEY!? We’ve seen Raven, Dreamer, and the other former members of the original ECW - ARE THEY BEHIND THIS!?
Taz - I guess RVD is letting Jeff use the chair since, you know, Abyss tried to murder him and everyone else with the board.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Bret/Martha thing because the Hart family is so fucked up to begin with, it's hard to "choose sides." However, the fact that Bret mentioned the "WWE Universe" in his diatribe makes me hate him just a little bit more.

The Steamboat thing...terrible. He was my first "favorite wrestler" when I was a kid. Hope everything turns out ok.

Steamboat was never my favorite wrestler, but I do know he is a really good person, let alone wrestler, and he has earned my utmost respect.

I'm also tired of all the wrestling deaths.

I never really appreciated Steamboat much as a kid, but after learing more about his history and seeing some of this old NWA matches, I could tell the guy had truckloads of talent.

Here's hoping he makes it through this okay.

I became a Steamboat fan during his NWA feud with Flair. He was one of those guys that never really broke through, but should have.

I actually remember Wrestlemania III and seeing the IC title match cemented Steamboat as one of my favorites. When he showed up on World Championship Wrestling Saturday Edition as "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert's mystery partner I jumped around my living room high fiveing my friends. We all gathered together to watch NWA Wrestling on Saturday.

How come the Nexus guys don't attack on Smackdown! That would solidify them more as a threat instead of coming out and beating up on Cena or some old guys who clearly not going to pose any sort of fight. Then I remember, this is the WWE and Smackdown is pretty much a turd.

LOL at that Straight Edge Society video. And I like the SES :(

They would rather keep them on Raw to build them up. Then only to have Triple H come back & squash them all.

I don't think you can post here anymore.

I mean, you don't really have to watch MTV to know who he is. They've literally been all over the place since last November/December doing press and whatnot, but I guess WWE fans aren't your average bunch.

I'm perfectly average. I just choose not to watch things that are fucking stupid.

Perfectly understandable. Who wants to watch that when you can see Hornswoggle bite someone in the ass or spray someone with a water gun?

Don't get butthurt over the fact that we don't care about whoever the fuck "The Situation" is. Go back to your regularly scheduled posts of rooting for African-American CAW #8.

I do not think it has anything to do with not watching MTV. I think it has more to do with the fact that Jersey Shore was a pop cult phenomenon. Leno, Conan, Saturday Night Live, News, every website, etc etc etc were all talking about Jersey Shore. Snookie, J Wow and The Situation were overnight reality stars. The video of Snookie getting punched in the face by another guy was an instant hit on youtube for all of the wrong reasons. The main clip has 4.5 million views. The other clips of it all range from several hundred thousand views to a couple of million views.
