The new Bruce Banner is....

He's not the kind of actor that would just do any project. He's been in a lot of very good movies so the movie should be pretty good.

hes an awesome actor and all but that character is beneath him. if i were going to put him in a super hero role id go for somethign interesting like carnage , or hobgoblin, or vermin......shit those are villans eh heros.......maybe deadpoool ( and thats a stretch) or black tom cassidy, hawkeye, the black knight , or backlash or even grifter. and maybe just maybe gambit. maybe even banshee if he bulked up. oh yeah and that british pete wisdom.

Wow, that sucks, Eric Bana was the only redeeming highlight of the first film...

Well General Ross was a pretty good casting decision as well so...

Ok, well Jennifer Connelly was pretty good too but aside from those 3... ok fine so we can all agree that the first film got the casting right and everything else wrong.

I like Eric Bana but Ed Norton seems to me to be more of the archtype Bruce Banner from the old Hulk comic books. Bana was too muscular for the role.

I like this casting move.

I love Ed Norton's work (I own most of his films) but I'm finding it hard to picture him as Hulk. That being said, I agree with Korben. Norton chooses his roles carefully, and likes challenge in a role, so I think it will be very interesting to see what he does with Bruce Banner. He's one of the true chameleons of acting, he doesn't just do the same type of role over and over...his niche is that he doesn't really have a niche.

I think he'll do it just fine. If you remember the show fro mthe 70's the guy was just some tall white guy. So the roll is open to many people. As long as Ed Norton is over 6' tall, It'll work out IMO.

This is fantastic news! I love Edward Norton and he is one of the best actors of our generation. Mark my words, in due time he will be hailed up there with the greats (i.e. Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, etc.). This is definitely an interesting casting move though. I thoght for sure Eric Bana was locked in as the Hulk. I like Bana as well and thought he was a very good casting decision for the first film, though not much else can be said for the first.

Hit the nail on the head.

The casting was great, the director was the problem. I still enjoyed the film but there wasn't enough of Hulk being Hulk.

The thing I disliked the most about the Hulk movie is that it was too cartoonish. There was far too much focus on computer generated characters that were, in my opinion, oddly animated (sorta reminiscent of graphics from The Mask). It really took me out of the experience of watching a serious movie. And this is my same complaint for the new Star Wars movies. I'd rather see real props, actors, animals, miniatures/models then cgi stuff.

And I like the choice of Ed Norton. He's fantastic in everything. Rounders, The Illusionist, Fight Club, and The Score were all top notch.

I love Ed Norton. I'll probably give it a shot just because it's him.

As for typecasting though, yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there...yeaaahh.

Movies where Ed Norton plays a dual role of normal guy/bad guy:
Fight Club (Arguably)
Primal Fear
The Score (With his mentally handicapped persona)

And now The Hulk where he will be Bruce Banner and a giant green Hulk.

Same thing with Death to Smoochy and sort of Italian Job because of the double cross.

Anyway, my argument is that he often gets typecast in movie roles where his character is more than one person in the movie. :) (Ok, so my only good examples were Primal Fear, and The Score, and maybe I could argue Fight Club)

Grey Hulk? I don't read as many comics as I'd like. Isn't the grey one smarter, but less strong?
Ed Norton is a good actor but I don't know if I can see him as the Hulk.
I ecco this as well... Bana was good.

You forgoth 24th Hour and American History X. In both movies he goes from law breaking wildman to upstanding straitshooter.

ang lee was the real problem in the first movie, he tried to go deep with symbolism and story driven characters when all I wanted to see was HULK SMASH.

I hate Edward Norton, I don't know if it's because he looks like a ass or because he had sex with Selma Hayek and I haven't. Every time I see him I just want to knock his face off. Never really hated anyone like that, it's weird

Have not seen 25th Hour, and it's been a while since I've seen American History X.

But that's around 8 of 22 mainstream movies (according to IMDb)? Approximately 36.36%

I hate Ang Lee. he is one, if not the most overrated director in Hollywood. I simply have hated every single fucking movie he has made that isn't Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and even that I think is a fucking overrated movie. Crouching Tiger gets way too much praise and is lauded for its "flying" scenes that were done in other movies, but IMO incorporated better. His other works have been pure drivel as well. Brokeback Mountain....hated it. Eat Drink Man Woman...friend recommended it and said it was good...last time I listen to that friend's taste in movies before I can validate his opinion with something or someone else. The Wedding Banquet....garbage. Bleh, one of the worst directors in hollywood that gets tons of accolades and acclaim for doing shitty movie.

I think that's what most people disliked about the first movie. Personally, that's exactly what I liked about it -- after years of nerds complaining that nobody treats comic movies with respect, here's one that's not just an action movie, but an actual credible real movie about something -- but I can understand people being pissed that the Hulk wasn't a two hour destruction fest.

Anyway, Bana was fine, but Norton makes a much, much better repressed Banner.
